Made a Empathy/Energy defender on Monday and have gotten him upto 14. But if I'm staying back and just healing all the time would Health and Stamina really be necessary?
Im nea as long as I had some blues i should be fine right?

Defenders have vigilence for thier inherent, which gives them an endurance discount for every member on your team. Awhile back I made an Empathy/psionic defender for teaming, and got into fights where I was healing constantly, and my end bar was barely moving. after the fight, which lasted about 5-10 mins, my end bar was about one third gone. But I didn't get her very high, cuz I 'm not very good with defenders, so I can't say if stamina is necessary for your toon or not.

Hi welcome to gameamp. I would suggest that if you are not interested in taking the fitness pool dont. Play the way you want and see how it goes. Your playstyle might be right for not having it. If you decide you need it then respec it in at a later date.

Yeah, what he said...
Honestly, I look at fitness as being exactly what it's called. Some of the more physically active characters (like blasters and scrappers) would probably be in better shape, hence, would need Fitness a little more. But a healer who sits back from the front lines wouldn't be getting as much activity, and as such wouldn't really need the Fitness to stay in shape. I'd go with the try it without and if you feel you need it, then respec.

I have a friend who has a couple of builds without Fitness. He is rather successful, but tends to have a bit more downtime. Toggle heavy characters will want Stamina, but if you slot end redux liberally you should be fine. On an empath defender, you will most likely never have endurance issues. Vigilance is designed to give you an endurance discount whenever a teammate is low on HP. When you need the endurance to use heal powers most, you'll have the discount to make sure it's available. No other Defender can make as much use of Vigilance.

Since my first 50 happens to be an emp/dark def. I can tell you that fitness is not necessary on empaths. You get recovery aura which is like stamina on steroids, and with hasten and a couple recharge redux, its up almost whenever you need it... combine that with the inherant def ability (can't recall its name right now) which reduces end cost during those stressful healing battles, and you should be good to go.

with an emp build that is made specifically to team and heal 'mates, I don't think that fitness is really necessary... on the lvl 14 Emp/Dark def that I have I haven't and prolly won't choose it... on my lvl 27 Storm/Elec Def tho I have Fitness because my end bar constantly is running with hurricane & snow storm on bosses... I have alil bit of a break because the bolts from elec give me back some end when they hit... but it's just not enuf most times...

I don't think you need fitness, but it has advantages. I have fitness pool on my lvl 50 emp/dark defender. I can use heal aura and heal other while flying (not hover). This allows me to stay out of of melee range but stay close to the team and also respond quickly to a stray team member in trouble. If I didn't try to fly while healing during the mission I wouldn't need the fitness pool.

I opted to pick it up with my emp/rad defender and for one reason.... I run out of end, people die...
just a thought...

The way I see it, if all you plan to do is heal you won't need to pick up any attacks. This leave more than enough space for fitness, so it can't hurt to pick it up. That being said, it isn't necessary.

My opinion (jeez we're an opinionated bunch, lol) is that you can never have enough end. Like Hob said, if your just picking up heals then you got room. And like Nasali said, if you run out people die. what happens when you start hitting Arachnos in your teens, or clockwork for that matter, and they start draining your end a lot. I hear all the time that with a regen scrapper you don't have to get it. I get it anyway. Why? You can never have enough end. If the battle is real long and you are healing non-stop for 10 minutes (think AV) you will run out. I have it on my 50 emp/rad and he can still run out. doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. And don't say AV's are much higher so you don't have to worry about it for a while. There are tons of them now in faultline you can get in your teens. Just my cent and a half worth.
