This is the buid I'm currently using for my rogue:

Take Combat first, then after you're done with that Assassination, and Subtlety last.

I don't have a whole lot of experience w/ rogues, mine is only level 21, and has become mostly my extra bank slots. But there is a really great guide here.

Combat is pretty fun, that is what I use on my rogue, and the guide the Jeni posted is very good.
here is what I have found out about rogues:
Subtlety rogues use dual wield daggers or have a dagger in the main hand. They get a lot of their damage from Backstabs and Ambushes.
Combat/Assassination rogues dual wield a combination of swords, maces, and daggers.
Combat speced rogues get most of their damage output from Sinister Strikes and Eviscerates.
For PvP daggers are the way to go. If you are interested in the player versus player gameplay.
I can't remeber my exact build atm because I am at school and can't check, so I will finish my post once I get home.

Don't know much about the other recipies for cooking up Rouges but I made one, (Gnome) awhile back for PvE thats all Subtlty and played her up to 50 & had a gas with her.
I like to solo mainly & I wanted something stealthy so I stuck to that line completely till I almost ran out that talent tree. I'm now starting the combat tree. She uses daggers & there isn't much in the game that she can't take down on her own. Combined that with Engineering, (Goblin, I like blowing up things), so I have access to to a lot of neat little Gizmos & Mineing so I have the raw materials to make the things.
All in all a very powerful little toon that can go just about anywhere & a real pleasure to play, no regrets that I can think of......
