| Where are all the paragons? |
|
|
|
I dont see any paragons from the last 10 days in Elona. I was playing AB and i found two kurzick paragons. But they sucked, they died less than 5 seconds with the Shadow prison BoA assassin build. Why doesnt guildwiki have an "Effective" build for paragon? Are people still having fun with their paragon?
Thank god i already deleted mine. No regret.

:O I love my paragon
Great support class, many people don't like them because they prefer to see more direct effects from their skills, the paragon runs around buffing himself and others on the battlefield whilst providing some nice 1 vs 1 damage.

Paragons are amazing, I will never delete him. I love playing around with different builds becuase paragons can do so many things. They have really groovey armour aswell!!
But 1 problem is it is hard to get into a PUG with them :(

I played a paragon in PvP and I played one in PvE... I couldnt' stand it for the reason you mentioned... You spam and use all of these skills... but you havn't the slightest idea if they are working... it they are still up, or if you're actually doing anything at all.
It bores the crap out of me. It's really hard to start off a paragon in PvE as well because of the small gorup sizes and the lack of any useful skills. Since most builds revolve around elite skills you're pretty much boned for a while.
I guess it's a preference but I'd rather play my Rt... and now that bloodsong has been moved to channeling.. I have to figure a new build (or modify a VERY old one). Oh well.

I don't think this is true. Paragon skills do work, and ppl in a party can see the effect. If every party member is suddenly healed for about 150 health, and every attack they do causes burning, i think they do see an effect. [Aura + Song of restoration, and anthem of flame]
I play with a paragon myself, and i feel usefull as a player in a party. Paragon builds are often based on combinations like anthem of flame + they're on fire, but so are many other builds. I know there aren't many basic paragon builds here, and that is the reason i have made one some time ago. Paragons can rly help a monk in game, to take some stress away from him and by providing some energy.

I would never delete my paragon, he makes a great storage character and emptying his inventory would be too painful.

The SoR paragon build on guildwiki is excellent in my opinion. I have used it for a long time, and it works incredibly well.

the only reason i made a paragon was to make an old man with a beard and shabby hair...
i played with him for about an hour and decided that it was time to put the old man to rest!
R.I.P Old Man Stan! *kisses finger then raises it in the air*
one love!

There are several Paragon builds posted on this site as well. Just because wiki doesn't have an "Effective" build for the Paragon doesn't mean that theres no point in using them, make something for yourself.
Paragons are one of the better classes I've played as. I only say that since I try to play on the proffession of the chapter that tends to be less popular, and I find it much better than what people tend to lean against.
And Paragons aren't just about spamming skills to see if they work - Rt Lords are similar to that, but are just as effective.
That being said, just because you see two paragons that die in 5 seconds doesn't mean that they're a waste. Give it time, builds for those classes don't just fall in your lap half the time. And maybe the lack of said class may have something to do with the lack of builds anyways.
So don't get in a hissy fit if an unpopular class fails because their build isn't very good, if there aren't many around. |

Paragons just aren't that exciting to me. Before the nerfs they were REALLY powerful, but since they just don;t seem like that much fun to me.......
They are sorta like rangers in the sense that they are adequate at everything but they excel at nothing. Paragons certainly are an asset to a party, as is any class, but imho they just aren;t that exciting.
I have finished the games with all classes and usually when I am doing a mission it is to help someone out, I have yet to have someone say , hey I NEED a Paragon to come help with mission-X....
They usually want big damage or a healer or a tank.....
I had a good time taking my paragon thru the 3 games and I have no intention of deleting him, but I just don;t think the class is that exciting to play in PvE or PvP

My paragon is freaking awesome, almost legendary survivor too. Can't wait to get so i can actually attempt some of the masters rewards.
It is only when you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

Well, the Paragon is similar to the Mesmer in the fact that they're under appreciated. They don't deal their damage directly, but are superb support characters. Like the Monk.
Maybe it's just me, but I love being support, let the other worry about dealing the damage. Just like in RL, I'll delegate. :-)
My paragon remains, got her Vabbian armor, missing 2 skills to cap for my elites.

Paragons are the Sins of Elona (This of course right after Factions was released)
I think there will be a surge and a large amount will show up again as soon as someone finds a decent build for them. Just like the sins :)

I remember in the preview that Paragons were so impressive, massively overpowered and great fun to play. ANet in their attempt to balance them seem to have made them impotent and I've never got mine past lvl 8. Mind you I completed NF with my Dervish and now she's on a shelf holding all my dye's.
I'll get around to him eventually but atm I'm finally making a Rt.

Builds? Go to Wiki's build section and look in the general builds of either PvE and PvP. Theres several paragon builds. Search here in the guides, theres another 5.
Like I said before, don't expect builds to just fall from the sky. Someone has to make them. Just for example, here's a Support Build I made a couple months back that works like a charm. Everdream made a Spear Damage build as well.
Playing support is really fun, but it just depends on the style you like playing. I've gotten comments that the build I used can double as a secondary monk, and everdream's build is awesome for beginning Paragons since most of the skills can be gotten early on.
If you've tried a Paragon and didn't really like it because "there aren't any decent builds," look again.

Never Give Up!
Never Surrender!
I have a stable of Mesmers, and I felt obliged to include the Paragon class. Like it was mentioned earlier they are very under appreciated (more so than mesmers). anet did nerf the hell out of their skills. and some of their best skills take awhile to recharge.
although i do love the burning + bleeding attacks. hoho that you do see right away.
Paragons also like rangers have an amazing range with a spear. Crap I can shoot a spear well outside my white aggro circle. The lightening dmg is ok.
But stick with it, it takes a little understanding to figure out how they work. And just because someone else sucks at it doesnt mean you will. My paragon kicks a-- in PvE, still need work on PvP tho.
and sorry you wont see my paragon in AB, because my paragon cant take the heat, get it? heat, as in savanah heat.

Paragons are fun, if you like support.
It's similar to monks, but to an extreme. Not many people like to play a support build, which is too bad.
I like playing support, and paragons definitely do well at it. A Motivation build is probably one of the best non-monk healers out there. Not as powerful or spammable, but party wide and unstrippable once applied.
Command/Leadership Builds are fairly nice for damage dealing. Think along the lines of a smiting monk casting Judges Insight on another char. Or on themselves.
The only reason paragons seem to stand out as an unplayed class is that Dervishes are the most popular of the 4 new professions.
