BlackPhoenix's forum games gave me the idea of doing something similar, but in a way that is also "useful" for our gamers. Also, the Vangaurd site misses a Hints & Tips section, so lets do it as a thread instead. :-)
The game rules are as follows:
After I start it of you can reply with two kinds of posts:
- Yes, I did know that :-p
Did you know that you can....
- No, I didn't know that!!!
Did you know that you can....
Where of course, at the ... you give your own tip or other piece of wisdom.
Allowed:
- Any short bit of advice concerning the game, its mechanics or related things you can think of. Preferably it doesn't take three pages to explain. That'd be a Guide (which the site also doesn't have at present), so make a separate post for those.
- Anything you yourself didn't realize for a long time and suddenly went "Doh! why didn't I think of that".
- Any of the "20 things you always wanted to ask about S.. Vanguard but were afraid to ask".
Not allowed:
- No superlative compliments on any of the previous posts or (the other side of that coin) any "Boy how could you be so stupid/ingorant/e.t.c. to not know that".
Abuse is in room 12B across from Arguments in 12A ;-)
- It's not a discussion thread either.
Just the tips and hints!
For those who enjoy the credit game, I'll be giving 5 - 10 points to good contributions and 0 points to those who violate the rules. I'm sure good advice will get more points from others too.

Did you know that...
putting stuff in the Saddlebags of your horse means they don't count against your carried weight?
Obvious when you think about it, but it's not clearly shown.
Put any heavy objects in those bags. Your pony/horse/Camel can worry about it then.

Yes, I did know that! And it's pretty handy for plate wearers to carry some corpse recovery gear there =)
Did you know that...
When crafting, on a stage that has two "steps" to complete, each step will become unusable once its progress hits 50%? (In general... some complications can lower this number slightly)
So if you use a certain step to increase your quality, make sure you get to whatever quality you are shooting for before you hit the progress cap for that step! And don't waste expensive actions that give high progress when you're already close to 50%... better off to use one that gives low progress for fewer points, or one that gives low progress plus some amount of quality, otherwise you're wasting points for progress you can't get!
Also, this applies to stages with 3 or more steps too (starting around level 20), except in those cases the steps become unavailable after you hit 33% progress, etc.

Did you know that...
If you go to the audio settings and there do the following:
- Put every slider to half of what they're at when you first see them.
- Then put the slider for "User Interface" to max
- Finally, set Master Volume to max...
You'll actually hear a beeping sound when someone sends you a tell in the middle of combat.
I also started hearing it when I could do a chain reaction as that makes a sound too.
You may need to tweak your master volume or windows volume a bit as well for maximum effect.
I don't run music in the background as it rarely fits with the game, so I don't know how that would affect things.

Did you know that...
you can start and stop auto-attacking by pressing ` (that key next to 1, above tab). That way you can clean up another spot on your toolbar.

Did you know that sometimes when an NPC won't talk to you, pressing the H key will "force" him to talk to you? :)

Yes I knew that but thanks for the reminder :-)
Did you know that once you process your Harvested goods (like mangled Strips or Jute Sheafs) into their stacked counterparts, they become part of the Crafting sphere rather than Harvesting?
Knowing this can help you locate them on the Exchange Broker when trying to narrow your search.
(I thought nobody was selling the bloody things for a week)

Nope, I didn't know that!
Did you know that, when you buy thrown weapons in stacks of 50, you can combine the stacks and equip them as a single stack of 100?
