Here's the latest from the Guild Wars Dev Team!
In listening to players, we know that you have been concerned about the difficulty of acquiring the Ritualist Hero, Razah. In the near future, those who complete Nightfall will have a new way to acquire Razah. And those who already have acquired Razah will be in for a pleasant surprise.
What the designers have done is (1) add a quest to Guild Wars, and (2) change the existing "Finding a Purpose" quest (the 'Get Razah" quest). There are four categories of players in this situation. Simply find which of the categories you belong to and you'll learn about your new options.
(1) I have not started the "Finding a Purpose" quest.
Proceed as you desire once you have beaten Nightfall, but note that there has been a significant change to the quest: you are longer required to pay gemstones to complete it. You can get the "Finding a Purpose" quest from Chaplain Phyratyss in the Gate of Anguish and when you complete it, Razah will join your cadre of Heroes.
(2) I have completed the "Finding a Purpose" quest.
A new quest has been added for you. Take the "Money Back Guarantee" quest as offered by Keeper Shafoss in the Abaddon's Gate outpost. When you complete this quest, you will be rewarded with one of each type of gemstone.
(3) I am in the middle of the "Finding a Purpose quest and I've already paid my gemstones to Keeper Milzesh.
Complete the "Finding a Purpose" quest, and then speak to Keeper Shafoss in the Abaddon's Gate outpost. When you complete the "Money Back Guarantee" quest you'll get one of each gemstone back. Special Note: If you already have paid the gemstone fee but have not completed the "Finding a Purpose" quest, do NOT abandon the quest. If you abandon the quest, you will not be offered the "Money Back Guarantee" quest and will not get a gemstone refund.
(4) I had "Finding a Purpose" on my quest log, but I had not paid the gemstones to Keeper Milzesh and the quest is not on my log any longer.
Due to the change in the gemstone requirement, the "Finding a Purpose" quest has been removed from your log. Simply talk to Chaplain Phyratyss in the Gate of Anguish again to add the revised quest back to your log. You can then complete it without the gemstone fee.
So, in a nutshell, players who have already paid the gemstones for Razah will be unaffected by the change to the "Finding a Purpose" quest, but will have the option to complete the new "Money Back Guarantee" quest. Upon completion they will receive a refund of their one each of the four gemstones. Players who have not paid gemstones simply need to accept the "Finding a Purpose" quest from Chaplain Phyratyss in the Gate of Anguish and complete the quest in order to gain Razah as a hero.
On, and more good news: We believe this update will be live in a couple of weeks.

Brillant news, finally everyone has access to the ritualist hero. Another shining example of ANET listening to players and correcting a design fault.
I do realise some may feel slighted as the cost of gems has gone down - however I think they received their moneys worth. Not only do they get their gems back, they can still claim to having/using the Ritualist earlier, and having ample time to show it off.
I can't wait to have a ritualist in my party! who knows it might increase the want for real ritualists in parties... (if only).

Yeah this is insulting. i went thru a lot of trouble to get Razah for each of my 10 characters....
Now not only does everyone get to have hiomn for nothing, but i have to go and do a quest on all 10 of them to get my gemstones back ??
NOT FAIR - Give us a special mini pet or twice as many gems or SOMETHING.
I hate stuff like this........
Oh well at least the 10 new quests will give me something to do =/

Haha! I win! And personally, I don't see why a rit hero should be so exclusive in the first place. I happen to love playing my rit, and think that a rit hero would be very handy to have in a lot of circumstances, but I haven't been able to ever have one. I appreciate this update big time.
Edit: Plus, now when I start doing DoA, I can just sell the gems and get super rich!
Edit: Though apparently it's not all it's cracked up to be, since all you rich people do is complain.

for 1 thing; i think its great that they have made it easier to get razaah.
On the 2nd hand; the people who have worked so hard in getting him are neglected. They have done all the effort in gaining him; and now it has been made so easy in getting the last of heros.
Still my respect goes out to anyone who has gained razaah the hard way; they have really worked for it and spend time in getting him.

I got Razah the hard way, am I bothered that it's going to cost less to get him? NO. Getting Razah after aquiring the Gems was a real source of celebration amongst my guldies, it was a good feeling and having played a Rit I really wanted to see what the hero was like. Now it's become easier it means that sense of aquiring something 'special' will be gone so I'm glad I got him when I did, it was a good gameplay moment for me and my guildies to share :)
I'm pleased Ive got another high level quest to do to get the gems back. I don't think this is a bad update at all, more people get to see what a Rit can do (don't bother with a Rit Lord Spirit build for him though, he's not very good at that).
I think it's a good move on Anets part to make him easier to get, you still need to finish the game to get to DoA so theres still gonna be a certain sense of accomplishment when you do get him.
For me the best things in the game arent the ones that boost my bragging rights, its the things that give me a sense of achievement. I got him when it was 'harder' and I'm glad I did it when I did, I see no point in sour grapes now its 'easier'. I enjoyed my moment for what it was :)

Very true geek!
The enjoyment of getting razah not long after he came out is an awesome feeling..
I don't mind he will be easier to get now either, it will just make me gamble a bit with a coffer of whispers i assume ^^

Now I can get him, for once I dont have to get a group to gether and get the last hero for my Derv, + It will unlock him in PVP with out the cost of 6,000 factions points.

Personally, I'm determined to do it the hard way at least on my primary character. After that I don't really care much about how I get him.
I'm not really sure how "elite" he is though, as I've seen more and more people just buying the gems anyway, rather than doing the quests for them. I think he lost standing once he became more of a buy-and-sell thing. But thats just me...

I must have missed them, but where are the henchies in DoA?
I thought you could only take heros?

u get the quest in DOA... then the quest leads u to abaddons gate where u enter a chamber where razah is kept
at this stage u can take hench with u :D
back to topic:
im proud that iv got my razah the hard way... but it would be nice if anet would rename razah like "razah the mighty" for those who got him the hard way so that poeple will notice the difference ;P

Getting Razah really was never about 'z0mg a ritualist, we really need one' it was more of a way of flashing your cash. He's a pretty crappy hero so it's just kinda dumb to make him free. They should have added in Razah's retarded ritualist brother, Waldo, for people who couldn't afford Razah. That way we'd still be rich with our Razahs, and you cheaper people could have a ritualist with a collection of silverware stuck to his head following you. :D

I was never interested in Razah, the hench ai stinks for spirits. I tried with an ath shot ranger build on Margrid and all she did was spam oath shot.

I dont really care either way, although i have to agree that yet another high end achievement now means nothing.
But anyway i'm happy so i can save my stones for an Armbrace of Truth so i can exchange that to the Deacon of Whispers for my..
