Guildwars Going WoW?

Ok, everybody knows GW2 will feature new, playable races. Everybody also knows that Guildwars and WoW are two very competative MMOs as everyone is always compairing the two. And at that end, what if Guildwars is going to become more like WoW?

World of Warcraft has two alliances to choose from, and several races differing from those alliances. And since WoW and GW are competing, what if GW is going to do the same thing? Kind of like Factions how they are fighting for territory only your race depends on which alliance you choose. If thats the case then I am quite intreged.

What do you guys think? I for one find this very possible and think it would be interesting to see how they do it to make it unique to Guildwars.

what makes you so sure that "GW2" will have playable races?
i've heard speculation about that since beta lol... never heard a confirmation...

not saying your wrong, i've just never heard that, please correct me if I'm wrong

There will always be people that like or dislike something. Let's just enjoy our current GW, and wait for the first beta results to start making comments or decide whether you like things or not... Flame something based on something you do not know yet seems a little odd in my perspective... But hey, who am I...

Im gonna start off with this: Im really tired of hearing about "Guildwars 2 is gonna be like WoW" one thing that Anet is gonna do is steer away form that as much as possible, i can think of 2 solid facts and 1 opinion to make gw2 and WoW 2 different games.

-Monthly Pay of WoW, Free gw1 and gw2

-GW1 Graphics are better than WoW's current gfx and Gw2's Graphics are gonna be better than Gw1's

-WoW Sucks ;D

I think you will find actually, that him saying GW2 is like WoW, from him is a compliment, it's something he likes the thought of, unlike most other ppl saying it. It's like when i say sum1 has an Irish accent and they are American (they know who they are :P) and it's a compliment from me cuz i love the Irish accent, even tho it's not ^_^

Now... have you ever played WoW? If not you can't say that, try the 10 day trail and if you don't like it then you have the right to say that.

If you have tried it, well then maybe you should give a reason to why it "sucks".

This is not a flame, just saying that you should try something before saying it sucks.

GW2 will have 4 races to play from..
humans-char-assuro-and a vikingdwarf race

But plz before you start comparing GW2 with WoW..
Read all about the released info plz..

I for one will be sure it won't be like WoW
As Arenanet is a company, it needs to make profit..
It needs to make new stuff..
Not copies of other games

And that's just what they'll do ;-)

i don't mind the idea of gw turning like wow. as long as the graphics and game play remain the same or get better.

GW only allows 8 skills, i like this cuz it adds strategy to the game and you're not totally dependant on your equipment. WOW in the other hand, you can carry all the skills want but if you're not equiped with the right stuff, you're screwed. my point is i hate farming, at least in gw it's not much of a big deal but in WoW, you have to do a lot of farming (raids w/e) to get the drops you need. that's the biggest thing that put me off from WoW. i heard must of this stuff from a friend of mine that plays WoW (i myself never actually went that deep into it). the cartoonish style was another put off.

GW2 might have a bigger lvl cap, i don't like that idea but if they make it infinite that's fine by me.

alot of fantasy games mirror each other.
to say WoW sucks is bit hasty, I have played the begining WoW games. I enjoyed playing my part of the horde.

But know that despite the similarities, GuildWars will never be WoW. The story is different and so is the campaign. The overall feel of the game and how the characters interact are very different. How many music videos do you see of WoW characters dancing?

Guild Wars will always be Guild Wars and I welcome the new playable races. Despite this you should not assume its a rip off from EQ, or WoW, LOR, or any other fantasy game.

Guild Wars appeals to me because of its unique story, and I for one would like to see more of it. I am ready for GW2 no matter how it looks from the outside eye. To me Guild Wars is about the struggle in Tyria, the never ending story of Gwen, the up & downs of alliance battles, the random nerfs and buffs that drive everybody crazy. I accept Guild Wars for what is and what isnt. It always has been a game I enjoyed playing and if Anet thinks they can make it better. Well I'm going play it and see for myself.

GW2 is going to be open world? what you mean? like in WoW that other players come with you to explorable areas? O.O what i heard is stuff about hall of monuments which lets you transfer title,weapons, armor and stuff and about dungeons/armors/skills/heros...not that it's goin to be open world? someone clarify please? i really hope it's not going to be like wow :S imagine 500 farmers overloaded in FoW, everyone shouting about HEY I WAS HERE FIRST!!!!! THAT SHARD IS MINE NOOB! lol

Im not of the oppinion that GW and WoW are competing.. WoW is truelly in a class of its own and nothing is coming close.. Just look at the vids of TBC release, insane. It has more then 8 million players!.. They are also 2 extremely different MMO's there is nothing really the same or even comparible. PvP works differently, PvE is a lot broader then GW and just a whole different experience. GW and WoW will never be alike, thats something Id put all my life savings on (thats $0,00 :P)

I'm really getting tired of all these people who start crying that GW2 will be more like WoW, true, based on the RUMOURS that have started to flood the web GW2 would indeed look more like WoW (different races, open world, etc.)

BUT PEOPLE, THESE THINGS ARE JUST RUMOURS!!!

Let's all relax a bit and play the game we all love and then we'll see how GW2 will be when it's out (which is still several YEARS away so quiting GW simply because Anet's working on GW2 is just plain stupid)

Whats bad with with looking more lik WoW anyway? Who doesnt want open terrain, believe me thats a lot more fun.. It doesnt mean its a copy of WoW... WoW and GW will never be the same.. the style is just way to far apart.

Hmm, it seems WoW was the first ever MMO and every MMO that came after and before copied it. Some people are being ignorant generalizers. Probably the same people that say WoW sucks because it's the cool thing to do. WoW is fun, GW is fun. There's no reason to hate on WoW because you're playing GW. They're both fun on different aspects (GW has the best PvP, WoW has great PvE and pretty fun PvP).

In any case, GW2 seems like it's gonna be original and fun too. Now, they should add Tengu, then I'd be happier.

Amen to crossbow.. I think you're ignorant if you think WoW sucks, you might not like it but it defenitly does not suck. Neither does GW.. You see WoW players say that too but they are just as ignorant.
