Japanese rock bands/artists

Right, this might sound a bit odd, but I listened to some Japanese rock and I really liked it, even though I can't understand a word :P

The problem is that there are a lots of Japanese rock bands/artists and I have no idea which one is good, so that's why I'm asking your opinion.

I have some songs from 'High and Mighty Color' and 'Nana'.

So, is there anyone here who knows something about Japanese rock? xD

I'm very fond of X-Japan. ^_^

Malice Mizer, Luna Sea, Moi dix Mois, L'Arc~en~Ciel, V6, The Pillows, D'espairsRay, High and Mighty Color, HYDE, Kanna, YUI

I find that all those bands are great. ^^

I'll look for songs from the bands and see if I like it, when I have time. Have to go back to my study now =.=

Normally I hate Aya Hirano, but she has A good song called: God Knows. Check it, it's decent.

Other than that, the usuals, L'Arc en Ciel, High and Mighty Color, Uverworld (is decent), Jinn, Move (Highly recommended)

I'm perfectly willing to help, however due to real life, I can't get on very often. Still and all, feel free to PM me in game or here if you need help.

Well if your a fan of Final Fantasy try The Black Mages. They do 'heavier' versions of the tracks in the Final Fantasy games and movies (Advent Children at least). They were formed by Nobuo Uematsu, the guy who made most of the music in the first place.

Wiki's page on them.

RE: Japanese rock bands/artists

Why stop at rock? There's alot of popluar rockish pop and other forms out there, here's a sample of what I have on my computer:

Nami Tamaki
Eiko Shimamiya
Rie Fu
Boa
Ayumi Hamasaki
The Seatbelts
The Black Mages
Yokko Kanno
etc...

If you take some time to watch a little anime you'll find alot of great works. Some dark, some lighter but usually of very good quality. If you really want something nice and dark check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmhZ6FYoNEs

It's originally the theme for a really dark anime, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, and the video is equally disturbing.

Another vote for The Pillows.

I've got their songs Bran New Lovesong, Sad Sad Kittie, Ninny and Funny Bunny on rotation right now. xD

Personally, I prefer to not understand the lyrics of many songs, as it allows me to project my own feelings and interpretations on it.

When it comes to JPop & JRock, I have ~1500 GB og MP3s and vids, growing steadily.

I saw some Japanese bands live (e.g. D'espairs Ray, Dir En Grey, Mika Bomb), had Meet & Greets (e.g. Harenchi Punch when I was in Tokyo) etc...

So, if you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

Have to go with High and Mighty Color, L'arc~en~ciel, Yoko Kanno, Utada Hikaru, I've heard a few songs by FLOW and Nana Kitade which were good. Definetely YUI is recommended and pretty much whatever's been said above.
