Anyone else worried about upgrading your equipment?

I've got some pretty nice equipment. However, the more and more I upgrade the more and more worried I get. I've dropped several high priced items during "regular" death. That is, death against a mob. Luckly all but one of these times a friend was close by to grab my stuff. Like my brig tunic last week *sigh*. That was a close one.

But I am worried that if I upgrade and upgrade I'll eventually have a day in which I drop something so expensive that it makes me quit playing for the day...or the week out of disgust. Anyone else feel this way?

I think item drops should only occur during PvP or when you're red. Never when you're white. And never against a mob.

Re: Anyone else worried about upgrading your equipment?

Absolutely! See here - Although not a brig tunic, at that point in my game life a forest bow was a big big deal. It's what prompted me to start over on Gustin and say screw it to all the jerks on Bartz (not you guys of course - but there are a lot of them).

I don't necessarily agree with NO drops when white and/or vs mobs - I think perhaps it should just be non-equipped items. Or items under a certain value, or items under a certain value pertaining to your level... Stuff you could recover from. Or, like other games (UO comes to mind), have your corpse un-lootable except by consent. That way you have to make it back to where you were to get your things or at least get a friend to grab it. Dropping your best items for the scourges to snatch up is ridiculous. Yes, if I dropped my bastard sword at this point I'd be hard not to just say "the hell with it" all together. Something definitely needs to be done.

Re: Anyone else worried about upgrading your equipment?

I feel your pain.....the ONLY thing I've ever "lost" was a Forest Bow.

I would rather lost more experience than lose a 1 mil item. I'm against item drops for whites. I fully plan on getting into PvP when I'm tough enough to do so with confidence and will equip myself then accordingly. But til then....I don't wanna worry every death if it's gonna be the one that cost me millions....

Re: Anyone else worried about upgrading your equipment?

I'm currently upgrading to the first C-grade weapon (3million+!) and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. If I were to drop it, it would take a good month or more to farm enough money for another and I don't know if I have the patience to do it again. Item drop is harsh, one drop of your main weapon with no friends nearby and you're basically screwed unless you have friends or a clan which are willing to lend you enough to re-equip yourself with a decent weapon. Even then you would have to farm, farm, and farm some more to owe them back.

I think once I get to 1mil+ weapons and armor I'll not be venturing alone anymore. Even if not grouped, I'll make sure I have a friend nearby!!

Just ask SWARM about his experience helping out one of the farmers who was about to die... :P Wanna fill that in SWARM?

Re: Anyone else worried about upgrading your equipment?

I think the rush of there being a chance to drop my items makes the leveling more bearable altho I have to say I am very happy they are making it so you never drop your equiped weapon in c1 patch. The only Item you have to have is your weapon everything else is easy to replace as long as you can keep killing. Rite now I can make between 60k and 100k per hour killing light blues so replacing a 500k bp isnt that hard now when I get to cgrade and that bp is 4mill then I will be pissed but thats what clans are for. I have given 2 full suits of brig to clan mates and 1 weapon a guy lost on death (SoR).

All I have is base D armor, nontheless I would be pissed if I lost my armor. Thankfully the one time I did drop my gaitors I was given it back.

Re: Anyone else worried about upgrading your equipment?

I think that there should be a penality for dieing. The drop of an occasional item is not that harsh. But the price difference for small gaines in an item's ability does seem a little artificial. If you solo alot, carry items you can lose if you die. You choose which items you carry and so in the end, you decide what items you can afford to drop. Yes it hurt when i lost my bone shield, but i also was really happy on the short spear drop. It all balances out.

I personally havent played the game as of yet, but I believe that you should be able to only drop a bit of money, and un-equipped items(well ones that arent in a pack or something) , if you drop armor that is on your body that really isnt believeable, although the weapon drop it highly believeable, seeing as how your hand can open if hit in the right place, the armor should be damaged if it falls because of the straps that are used to hold it in place, and breaking all those straps is quite hard to do. I play DnD so I know a little about item dropping, I also roleplay so that also helps.

Re: Anyone else worried about upgrading your equipment?

LOL

what you guys are talking about is small fry stuff, im carrying about 80million adena worth of equipment, my sword alone is worth 20mil. and im about tp upgrade to a 40 to 50million sword.

I did howerever hear, that in c2 you dont drop your weapon, at least not as much. I cant say for sure, so dont go out there killing yourself to find out.

But all in all, you guys still have it easy.

Re: Anyone else worried about upgrading your equipment?

Here's the skinny on that. The chance of you dropping anything while White during PVP is next to nothing. Your chance of drop-on-death increases as you fight mobs that are higher level than you. A good way to lower your chance of dropping a good item is by loading up on Maps in your inventory. They weigh nothing and you have a better chance of dropping one if you have like 30 on you. The chance of dropping an Equipped item is low, as well. Unless you are red of course. Hope this helps.
