servers for tourneys

there's a few simple steps to ensuring a smooth running demorecording during a match on a server (and demos are nice to make during olb events).

1) in UT2004.ini of your server, find any lines containing 'tickrate' in them, and set them all at the same value (preferably set them all to the higher value that you find).

2) easy way: in webadmin, go to server console and type in 'demorec filename'

3) to do it automatically, look up UTComp settings in webadmin and check autodemorec.

on a side note, if the tickrate values you find are all like 20 or 30 in step #1, bump them up a little and you'll find it runs a little less laggy ;) a good # to try is 50. that way pings are helped a little without the nasty side effect of overpowering the minigun/linkgun. if you notice your server cannot handle it (symptoms of high tickrate are artifacts, skipping, invisible projectiles, etc.) then lower it back down, but i haven't yet run into a server that couldn't handle that.

if you have any other questions regarding servers, post them here, i think you can all handle mutators/voting configs fine (don't forget the spawngrenades mutator!)

**note: any changes to the UT2004.ini should be done while the server is OFF. in GriffinRun servers, you can just type 'quit' into the console, do your changes, and wait for it to start up. if you have a shell account on the box, you can enter quit in the webadmin server console, then ssh/telnet in and restart it from the command line manually. ask your server provider for details if you don't know how to do this, they'll be happy to assist you.

That's for anyone that doesn't have a link for it.

Put all of the files into your servers system folder. Restart the SERVER (not the map). It will show up in your mutators list in webadmin, just enable it, and then under defaults, then rules, "grenades at spawn" and input a value. Restart map and enjoy!
