I have a new awesome comp, but for graphics, I only have the intel 82945G chipset. I'm on Vista. The graphics are way awesome, but glitchy. When I'm in a mish, the screen "hops" and I can sometimes see through walls. I'm going to get a new Graphics card, but that's a month away. I have the latest driver, but the login screen still tells me that my driver's too old. Does anyone know anything I can do until I get the new card?
this happens to me every once in a while too. i'd say unless it is really bothering you then just stick with what you got. i like being able to occasionally see if a mob is right on the other side of the door.

Your problem is called 'packet loss.' There's two ways it happens.
First of all, your firewall might be throwing away the packets. Make sure it's turned off.
However, it's much more likely that your modem is feeding information to your video card faster than it can handle. In effect, it's choking on too much data. You need to let it eat smaller bites. (Bytes? :P)
If your video driver has a settings manager, see if you can find a setting to limit your maximum download rate. It should be no higher than about 80% of your modem speed or so. That leaves enough other bandwidth for non-video streaming (such as reporting your actions to the mapserver) and gives your video card a chance to catch up.
If you don't have this option, you can open the options menu in CoH and turn down the frame rate. This does the same thing, though not quite as well.
One other thing that might be happening is that your video card may be overheating. If this problem doen't happen until you've been playing a while, then add another fan to your computer. Mine has a 3" box fan shoved up against the vent to force more air in (leaning against the outside of the tower). It's sloppy, but it works.

Blasters kill everything, usually before they get killed themselves. When it comes to dealing pain, a blaster has no equal. We just have a hard time taking our own medicine! So we love Tanks and 'fenders!

Vista works JUST fine with CoX. It just needs a couple little tweaks. In the properties for your shortcut for CoX, make sure this is in your "Target" line:
\"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe\" -compatibleCursors 1 -renderthread 1
The back slashes before the quotes should NOT be there. That's something funky the forums does.
A system that can handle Vista OK can handle XP perfectly. It's like, a car that can carry 500 tons without falling apart can handle 300 tons easily.
Vista has a much bigger system requirement, without giving you any improvement that you REALLY need and which would REALLY justify the extra hardware. I mean, shiny buttons - who cares ingame? A system that asks you 4-5 times if you're really sure you want to execute that program you just doubleclicked on? PITA.
Noone needs Vista, especially not at this stage - it's full of bugs as every MS softwares, but it's not really supported by hardwares or drivers.
Get rid of Vista and don't install it until there's no other choice (like, when XP won't be updated for a year or so, or people point a gun at your head)
And if you think that Vista's graphical "improvements" really justify that hardware requirements, watch this...
