When you say similar do you mean just like or do you mean other fun MMO's?
CoH/V is pretty much a one of a kind game. Unlike WoW, GW, or some other MMO's on that line...CoH/V lacks (until recently) loot system. Also the lack of a endgame and pretty lackluster PvP system.
So what are you looking for specifically? A similar setup like CoH/V?

Lord of the Rings online is pretty cool. They are in open beta at the moment.
Vanguard is a good game with alot of different classes of playing characters you can make.
Guild Wars is fun and there is no monthly fee. That is always a plus.
I could keep going but I am tired and my eyelids are closing to much right now. =)

Yes, there are other games using similar game engines and many of them are good, but there is only one superhero MMO.

The answer is still none. Only NCSoft uses this particular MMO engine and they have not used it for any other games as of yet. It's unique to CoX.

Well NCsoft has got some cool new games comin out. Go to their website PlayNC to check em out.
1. Tabula Rasa - Looks kinda like a mix between CoX and some futuristic shooter.
2. Exteel - Well if you've ever seen Gunz Online, it kinda looks like that. Not really similar to CoX but still looks like alot of fun.

Lord is right there isnt anything out there with the setup like CoH/V.
*Lord of the Rings Online is very fun, I am loving it right now.
*Guild Wars is fun but very short and mostly a PvP game. But if you like to solo, its a great game. You can utilize CPU controlled Henchmen or Heroes to help you in your fight.
*There is always WoW, its a fun game and has a pretty easy learning curve but grows harder as levels progress.
As for Beta Games: Tabula Rasa is in Closed Beta and is special invite at the moment. This game is some distance off before it goes to Open Beta. Exteel, I believe is Closed Beta also. So again tough to get in.
Age of Conan just went to Beta sign-ups and that looks to be a great game. Pirates of the Burning Seas, looks like a very fun game and is in beta also. Hopefully going to Open soon. There are many games out there that are just as fun as CoH/V but not exactly same setup.

Actually, if you pull down the list on the top right of your screen you get 20 very cool games. They are all based on the principle of massive amounts of players in one world fighting the forces of evil. The best one of the list is Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. But I might be a bit biased :)

I find it interesting that Cryptic is listed as being involved in the development of the Marvel MMO.
See full article here >> Go Baby, GO! <<
That said, I've tried a few other MMO's: WOW, Guild Wars and Anarchy Online. WOW was really fun, I was able to lvl my hunter to lvl 40 in about a month, it was a nice change of pace from CoX. However, I stopped playing when I read about the Warden in WOW.
>> Snoopers <<
**Edit**
Here's a more detailed article on the WOW Warden.
>> Lights out <<
That was enough for me to say no more WOW.
Guild Wars is pretty good, the game is beautiful and the characters are like greek gods. But it doesn't hold my attention for more than an hour.
Anarchy? Played once, not worth it.
So now back to the one and only CoX.

Phe and all the wisdom, yeah check out the network of games we have here too. Pretty much most of the ones we suggested, minus a few here and there.
And I tried Anarchy....well I dont even know if you can consider 15 minutes trying. Horrible graphics and strange....strange....strange game play. Too much, too confusing.

Sorry, I just had to revisit this. CoH/V actually has what is recognized as possibly the most fast-paced PvP system in any MMO. While WoW may have the most subscribers, their PvP can be incredibly slow. With Ex Libris helping out more with PvP in this game, sending it in an entirely new direction, this ame is far from "lackluster PvP"
Sorry, Im a pvper, and I just had to defend it.

PVP in CoX is awesome, fast paced, and merciless. the people who dont like it quite frankly, dont like it because they suck at it. yes there are incredibly cheap ppl and ppl who overuse the emote /e teabag way to much, but thats why we have an all-powerful SG to come and help you PWN them. in short i like how its so open and brutal and your not being some WoW pansy saying zOMFG i didnt agree to teh dual wiht you n00b!
next dont play GW unless you like being called a Noob. dont play it if you dont like to farm because ive spent a ton of time farming and im still poor. next the game is centered around PvP which is constantly evovling and where no one build is unbeatable. there is no /regen scrapper who completely PWNs so some thought goes into it
Hand of Blood Lvl X Spines/Regen Stalker...Triumph
Mystic Entity lvl 24 Katana/Regen Scrapper...Champion
Panzer Faust Lvl 23 SS/Energy Brute (retired)...Protector
Arbiter Darkwind Lvl 33 Thugs/Dark MM (retired)...Protector
Thanks to Mimori for the great sig

I dont hate the PvP in CoH/V its just um....in the arena...its fine...but when you walk into the PvP zones...watch out. Just to give an instance, I went into Siren's Call on my MM. I took two steps and then was teleported out of the "safe area" into a group of 3 max level heroes who put a stomp on me before I could even sneeze. If you go in alone (either side), its frightful to say the least. If you were lucky enough to get into a fight..if it wasnt melee, it was nearly impossible to tie them down. I understand thats the strategy in all but at least in the arenas there wasnt an unlimited ceiling or safe zones to run off to.
Other times I went in and it was dead....no one in there and if they were...they ran away. My main is a scrapper and I back away from no fights. I was looking forward to PvP in the game but just didnt think it was fun. It wasnt long ago but this was all less than 6 months ago.
As for WoW, it was fun too but at times it got to be boring and tedious. Waiting in queues and getting in on groups that performed rather...horribly and lose miserably. But overall I prefered the setup of WoW than CoH .
As for GW, I never got to try out the PvP. I was too busy exploring, questing, and leveling to actually get into that aspect of the game. I heard its very fun but can tough if you dont fully know the abilities of your character (which still learning). Maybe one day I can max my GW guy and get into some PvP. Maybe.

I'm pretty excited about the Marvel MMO. I hope that its success will spark an interest in more MMOs with superhero themes. I really enjoy CoX, but I need something fresh.

I like that one game, where you can be a superhero or a villain, and go around looting or saving the day. What's the game called again? Oh yea, City of Heroes/Villains. :P
Sorry, only game I've experienced. Don't have enough time to try'em all. But if I did have the time, I would try....none, I really like CoX, so none. :)

I agree with ya there. When I first got CoH, My first toon was a Wolverine clone (needless to see he was almost instantly defaulted). Silly me, never read the EULA, as if anyone does.
But the thought of at least meeting my favorite marvel heroes in-game is most exciting. I'm sure it won't be possible to let anyone be Spiderman, or there will be thousands of them running around in the game and quite frankly that would suck.
I guess we'll soon be doing Captain America's TF or something like it.

Yeah, I think they should put in RPGs. They could give them to the Outcasts or maybe the Hellions.

I am looking forward to the Marvel MMO for the hope there will be different powers that you can have. Being there so many characters in the Marvel Universe using the assortment of things. It should be interesting. Wish DC was putting out one also.

Anyone tried BOTS from AKKlaim?
It's free to play it seems. Might be fun to check out this weekend, when I'm not playing CoX of course.

Guild Wars is as pathetic as possible, yeah you heard me... it's free but it's so filled with cheaters, thieves, and foul mouthed preemies it quickly becomes tedious.
Yeah there are exceptions to the rule, but very little you can do about it when it happens.
Now if you like games like that then more power to you. I prefer to pay to play, then the company has incentive to keep the game relatively cheater and poor sport free.
My friend is the leader of a GW clan and has told me many things about the game, I personally tried it once... and that was enough to know I don't like it.
There is no game like CoH/CoV and if they ever make one similar it will always be compaired to CoH/CoV.
Games like WoW and GW and such allow you to buy items with money, so basically you can buy skills, no need to play or get good, just purchase the armor power or weapon you need and go to town, now I know it's supposedly not allowed however I have yet to see it not happen.
I have also heard that our government has been thinking about taxing ingame virtual items you buy with real money, I kid you not, they say even though the item you buy is virtual and not real your still spending real money to buy it, meaning it can and should be taxed.
They are also planning to tax items you win ingame just because they could be sold for a profit, like having money in the bank they will tax you for what you have because they will consider it a financial resource.
There have been estimates of Millions perhaps more in lost tax revenue due to these types of sales, and the government wants it's cut.
You can currently farm premium items in other MMO's, then sell them and make a real financial profit, not only that but the sales are tax free cash n carry.
If there is money to be made our government will find a way to make it.
You can only spend so much Influence/Infamy in CoX and even with max lvl Enhancements your not given THAT much of an advantage over others.
Even if you buy a lvl50 account for CoX or buy Influence/Infamy (both illegal btw) you still need to play, and anyone else in the game will be as good or better then you without spending more then the monthly fee.
CoX rules all the way around.
The new invention system will certainly change this some, hopefully the Devs will keep this in mind when implementing the i9 changes.
Should CoX ever become like WoW or GW, I and many others will pull our accounts, CoX will no longer rule or be the exception, it will become just another hohum yawnfest clone mmorpg.
May CoX stay as exceptional as it is and never lower itself to the level of plain vanilla MMO's.
