Have you every encountered any Celebrity Superheros during your Patrols of CoX?
Who have you seen? Please provide a name and a description, a screenie would be even better.
I saw Eartha Kitt once - A Claws/Regen scrapper in a cat flavored costume, a nice homage to the original TV cat woman.

Battle Axe
I was planning on a Chuck Norris character, but it would be a robot and "Chuck Norris" would be an acronym. I'm afraid to spell it out, though, for fear of the idea being ganked before I can get my CoH up and running, so I'll let you know when it happens. Please pardon my fear, but it's just too good of an idea to loose so easily, but he'd also be a MA/SR Scrapper.

A couple of friends of mine were telling me the other day how they crashed a CoV Halloween party with toons dressed as Manticore and Ms. Liberty.
To be honest, my SG on Pinnacle was created from characters that friends and I play on a DC-themed MU*. Kid Standard is based on Superboy (my avatar is his civilian guise). Ghost Revel (our Scrapper and his girlfriend) is based on Spoiler. Kid Instant (kinetics/electric defender) is based on Impulse, and our primary controller (mind control/empathy) is not only based on but -named- Lilith Clay (a Titans character who died around the same time as Donna Troy). We have, additionally, had or still have characters based on Umbra, Sensor, Brainiac 5, Cosmic Boy, Kitty Pryde, Pete Wisdom, Atom Smasher, the Riddler, Supergirl, Batgirl and Wonder Girl. There are probably others I'm forgetting.
Kid's my only 'rip-off' toon, really, and he's taken on a life of his own that I think is significantly distant from that of the character he's based on -- none of our characters look or act exactly like they do in the comics. It's just sort of fun to play these characters we like so much.
Granted, half of the primary group are dead canonly. Sad.

I've seen the bad spiderman knockoff, probably the one you saw too. I can just bet to you that all of those toons were made by the same person.

I kinda doubt that. There are a lot of people who enjoy playing knock-offs of favorite characters from comics and movies and whatnot.

I know for some people coming up with original names and looks can be hard. It is these same types of people that hire interior decorators. They just dont have the imagination to do it. *shrugs* I have inspiration from characters sometimes but it always ends up turning into something original very quickly.

I 'm not against some copycating.
In fact, i think it is pretty hard to find something really new.
I have some toons that base on celebs to, but i don't copy them 1:1.
My "Spiderman" is a Bug.*gg*
(Did you know that Jumpkick/Thunderkick/Flurry are an attackchain without a break?^^)
@greenix
I think most people just copy their favorite comiccharacter and have some other toon they invented on their own.
I'm listening to real music.

Each time a Spider-Man movie came out, I saw at least one clone of the web-swinger running around with a name like Spydermin, $p1derman, Spider-Guy, Webhead etc.
When the Incredibles came out, I came across Violette Parr, mrs Parr, Bob Parr and all sort of ''Mr something '' everywhere wearing red and black thights with an i on the chest.
When the Hulk Movie came out, I saw at the same time over half a dozen green-skinned behemoths wearing purple pants with various names like Bulk, the incredible one, Hulk 2 etc. and some interesting variations tho' (Grey Hulk, Stone Hulk etc)
When the Fantastic Four movie came out, I saw John Storm and Fantastic Woman (good name idea that one for a Energy/FF defender).
In 2004 there where a few Ultraman clones to be seen.
In 2005, there where a lot of WWE wrestlers running around Paragon City (Heartbreak Kid, Batista, The Game etc)
I once saw Billy Lo, name, costume, background and all exactly patterned after the Bruce Lee character in the Game of Death movie (the Robert Clouse rip-off, not the well-reconstructed documentary by John Little).
I myself am guilty with a few friends of founding two celebrity-inspired SG just for the fun of it: we are visibly inspired by classic well-known characters but not copying them outright in name, background and looks; just enough to see where the inspiration came from, as in a kind of parallel universe variant. So we have:
The Paragon City League of Justice (after DC'S Justice League obviously) with the following characters in the present roster:
- Supra-Man (a 1939 Superman-style tanker but with a Doc Savage inspired background)
- Supra-Woman (another tanker matching the 50's Supergirl with a background inspired by Hugo Danner in the 1930 The Gladiator novel)
- Bat Maiden (a pure Batgirl style character but with the Tim Burton style of looks and story)
- Orion Light (a shapeshifter patterned after the Martian Manhunter)
- Living Ray (a blaster inspired by the Ray)
The other one we did is the Paragon City's Avengers (taken from the Marvel team of course) with characters being;
- The Canadame (a tanker as a loose female version of Captain America, in another country's colors and without the WWII background)
- Power Hand (martial arts scrapper inspired in looks by Iron Fist and in background by Shang Chi)
- Unyielding (a tanker as a less brutish, black & grey, well-clothed version of the Hulk)
- Captain Canadian (a rifle/device blaster who, despite the name, is more inspired by Nick Fury than Cap in everything but looks)
- Felina (Tigra as a scrapper without stripes and with wolverine's claws and attitude)
- The Red Sorceress (a defender somewhat like the Scarlet Witch)
Those 2 SG are still minuscule and not very active, the characters of low to mid-level only, since we prefer to play our more original toons; but it is always fun to pretend to be one of those classic heroes from time to time.
Ain't classics always inspiring ?

one time i saw a person with the same costume as me in atlas park, they were lvl one and said they saw me and remade their toon to look like it. it was a little creepy, but flattering. oh yeah, and i have seen so many hulk and wolverine impersonations, most of them are not generic'd. one that i saw was a hulk and the oly invuln power he had was the first auto, and the rest were attacks and travel powers and the attacks before travel powers. ugh.
Current Projects
CoX
SpecOps Wink - level 42 Claws/Regen Scrapper
Aurelei - level 28 Warshade
Alexis Silver - leveling Energy/Kinetics Corrupter
Guild Wars
Avatar Korren - E/Rit level 20!
Arya Quinn - N/Rit
