Hummm,
Cheat'r'us is a 1) Waste of money and 2) a good way to get booted if you get caught using any cheats they may have up their sleeves.
While buying Influence/Imfamy is also considered a bootable offense, NCSoft is a tad more forgiving in this area. {Don't ask, don't tell.} If you DO it, don't go boasting that you bought 20 million. people like myself will turn you in. {evil grin}

Alright, to avoid people taking this personally, I'm going to say that I'm saying everything as a personal opinion, not trying to pass it off all matter-of-fact-like:
--IMO, if you get others to basically level your character for you, or you buy influence/infamy, you don't deserve what you get out of it since you're not doing much (if anything) to actually earn it.
I don't see why you'd play a game if you're just going to get babied to the end...IMO it takes the fun out of the experience, not to mention the fact that you'd be a level 50 character without the skills to back it up.
Random luck with some random person giving you money, or getting into an awesome team is fine IMO, but purposely getting others to make the game easy for you is not what I'd consider earning what you get.
--IMO, buying fake money with real money? Doesn't that sound a little crazy to anyone else? That's like me bribing the banker in a game of Monopoly with real money, so he gives me some Monopoly money or property. >.>
--There are actual, tangeable consequences with people getting PL'd with ATs/builds they're not already familiar with.
The endgame things are, obviously, the most difficult and strategy-oriented parts of any MMO. If people are getting PL'd all the way through to 50, they're not able to develop good skills or strategy with that AT/build, so they potentially become a huge liability to whatever team they're a part of at the time.
I've (obviously) never fought Hamidon before, but I wouldn't have to to know that a team where the best person in it has the skills of a level 10 player is pretty much destined for failure. And if there's a player in there that actually has the appropriate skill for his level, he'd understandably be very frustrated and angry with the group because they wouldn't know what they were doing.
Personally, it'd bug the crap out of me if I knew I got by without earning what I got. I guess if you want to do it then that's your choice and I won't really try to stop you beyond what I said here, but you really have no bragging rights over where that character gets to.
*edit* I appologize if anyone's offended by what I say here, and can PM me all you want about it. I'm just stating my personal opinions on the matter, and truely believe that you're robbing yourself of much of the fun of building up your own character, as well as building up skill that you'll need later on.

I tend to agree PL while it gets you to 50 in a short time is detrimental to you and your character. only playing your toon to 50 do you learn how your powers work and great strategies that make you a great team member. It only makes you a poor player/teamate. And as for paying for influence that just is silly once you get your toon into your 40's and above the influence starts rolling in faster than you can spend it. But that is just my opinion.
Thanks to Death Fetish for this cool "siggy"

Let me not get into pl-ing, but please, please, please, never buy influence/infamy.
In COH/COV it is not such a big deal as it is in WOW, Lineage2 or Guildwars. All the hackers, account stealers, and bot runners in the world only exsist because lazy people are buying gold from them. In COH/COV the goldsellers probably don't have to steep as low as to steal accounts since influence is so easy to come by, but anybody buying influence here is still promoting the whole gold selling industry. And because of that many Ampers got their in-game characters ransacked, and did we have trojans and viruses here on GameAmp which resulted in the network being down for two weeks. And GameAmp as a whole is still trying to recover from the losses because of it. Please remember that when you feel to lazy to play.

Hummmm,
Don't know how this degenerated into a PL fight, I never mention PLing. Cheater'r'us claim to have exploites, duping and cheats for City of Villians. Now, I don't know about you, but to me using anything they provide in that area is a clear TOS offense. If they offer PL'ing services, those are legal, sort of.
NCSoft has been quite clear they also consider buying/selling Inf/Imf a TOS offense. Again, they don't really enforce it unless someone forces them. One of the things that annoyed me about WoW was constantly being spammed in game by people selling gold. I don't want to see that happening in CoH/V.
SInce someone asked, PL is a personal choice, one I've never subscribed to. After 3 years I still have never had a 50th level character. I don't Power Level, I don't assist in PL'ing and still don't have a date for the Prom, but I move on.

I would like to make a comment about what those services are and how they are illegal and should not even be discussed on this site.
1st, it is strictly forbidden, per the EULA, to have anyone access your account for any reason what so ever, especially for the purpose of providing an added advantage in this manner.
2nd, cheats and exploits are also forbidden, per the EULA. If any are 'found', they should be reported immediately. These again, provide an added advantage to a particular person.
These items are definitely against the EULA of the game and by the same token not discussable on this site, as we also uphold the standards and rules of said EULA.
A discussion on PLing...well those happen all the time, however, providing means and methods of cheating and exploiting the game are not allowed in any form or fashion what so ever...I believe that sums up this discussion and thread.
Because I do believe there are punishments, in game and on this site, for anyone that is 'found' not abiding by the EULA.

Dang, all someone has to do is mention powerleveling and everyone starts getting offended. The powerlevelers i see are paid in HO's or trade Powerlevels with someone else, which means the person who wants to get powerleveled already has at least a 45. I've pretty much learned how all the powers work on CoH in only 4 months. So I don't see where the problem is, skipping level 1-20 is a good thing most of the time. Life before stamina is just too hard.

Ok, just to drop in and make a comment. Most of the comments I am reading all state pretty much the same thing. Most of us are against PL'ing, buy in-game items/money, and other "cheater" like techniques for games. I think that is fairly obvious, I haven't yet seen anyone get upset or bothered by any ones comments but I firmly state that I don't want to see this thread plunge into the opaque depth of flame hell thus invoking me to lock this thread. And I will lock it faster than hummingbird on crack.
Here is the best solution, until gaming companies can do end it, ignore it. If you don't like it, you don't want it, then dont pay attention. Its like anything else in the world you dont like, if you don't want it then don't use it. Very simple, very easy. I'm not sure why Metal posted this thread, and most likely I should of just locked it because its a very odd post. Any person that checks those sites should be able to realize they are scams, most likely illegal for the game. The word " exploit " just shouts....I am legal. But I allowed the thread to continue, so keep it civil, don't overreact.
Also, I am removing the links that Metal placed on the thread. From this point on if we see anymore links as such in a thread we are removing them. Its one thing if they are ads placed by google or such but another thing for an Amper to be posting them out. I should of taken action sooner but I hadn't see this thread to late last night and was too absent minded to post.

*dims lights, whips out a projector and old roll of film and signals assistant to lower the white screen*
...now if we slow the camera down to 24 frames/second, this would be the normal speed of a hummingbird. But let's take it a step farther and yet again lower the frame rate to 8 frames/second, which is the speed that a normal bird flaps it's wings. but for us to fully comprehend how quickly grif moves, we must slow the camera down, once again, to 2 frames per second. now you can actually see grif sitting at his computer moving the mouse cursor to the magic lock/unlock button that staffers get.
*undims lights and shuts off projector*
there are two things we can learn from this little film.
the first being that grif moves at super human speeds that cannot be seen by the human eye.
and B, this thread could have potentially been locked and unlocked so many times that extreme chaffage would have occured and every amper would need to sit on a inflatable hemorrhoids donut not to irratate the area any further.
Luckily, grif was 'out of it' last night and doesnt 'bathe regularily' or 'wear deoderant' so scenario B did not occur.
This has been a message from the Wildlife Staff Preserve Department of Gameamp. Please drive safely and do not feed the staffers. They might get sick and poop everywhere.

On the PL services that are offered you have to be very very careful who you give your login information to.
Do you use the same loging and password to pay your bills online?
Most people use consistent logins and passwords so they can actually remember them.
Do you by chance have any other important personal information that uses those login/password combos.
I'm not so much worried about the banning from the game as much as the stealing of my financial identity. They can't get all of the information about your accounts from your login to a game, but they can get more than you really want them to have.
There are pros and cons to the whole PL thing. It does tend to get people riled up. I myself experienced a little powerleveling on my first character. I was a n00b and joined an SG whos main goal was cranking out 50's for their reputation. After about 2 or 3 sessions of sitting on a rock and watching someone kill wolves I realized that I wasn't getting the game experience that I wanted. So I searched out more active teams.
What this game has to level the playing field is something that I have not seen many games give us. SideKicks's and Exemplars. Getting a character to level 14 and a movement power is rediculously easy. Then after that, why PL when you can just be SK'd up?
Can a long term player that has a couple 50's in their stable run a PL'd character efficiently? Sure they can. But they have also spent a lot of time playing and understand the game mechanics and watching those whom they ran with.
I actually like that they opened up so many zones that I cannot get all of the content with one character. It makes my alt experiences much more pleasant because I can grind levels and missions in completely different zones.
To pay $15 a month to PLAY a game, and then another fee for someone else to Experience it for you does seem silly to me. I'm not mad at them, I just don't understand them. If I want a mid level player to start burning through levels, I just throw out a message in my SG's channel and get a team. Any team for that matter. Whether I'm SK'd up or just running in range the EXP does seem to flow well.
The really odd thing to me is that there isn't much reward for being 50. End game content is still a little weak, but still there. The fun of the game is really from about level 22-45 for me, then I start worrying that I'll be 50 soon and then park this character I'm having a blast on too.
Like Grif said. Try and keep this topic civil. Let others play as they wish, just hope that they know what they are doing once they find their way into one of your teams. No one is getting too steamed, but this is a touchy subject to a lot of folks.
Just be very cautious with your login information folks.
