Most heroes have them,Some heroes need them.Yep that's right,a sidekick.I was talking on the forums earlier today and a discussion came up on City of Villains Patron pets.I envyed it so much,Being any Archetype and haveing a Pet to follow you.I was thinking that the City of Heroes epics should be able to pick out a pet to,but this being a Sidekick.
The Sidekick can be controlled like any controllers pets but have a Defense,Acc and Damage bonus when there near there Mentor.The pet is defenseless when away from mentor and can be killed instantly.The Sidekicks powers will be the Opposite of the Mentor.Example being,A Tank's Sidekick would be a blaster or a Controllers Sidekick would be a scrapper.It did take me awhile to think of the idea and wanted to hear suggestions on the Sidekicks that should be recieved.

Oh, this this idea has been brought up a couple of times. Not that you couldn't try again, but the answer has already been "no" a couple of times for a couple of reasons.
I personaly think it's a great idea. But we'll have to settle for live players to be our sidekicks. There are a bunch of my characters that I rolled, Asphalt Mage specifically that were created soley to be someones sidekick. I rolled up Asphalt to be the SK of a Dark/Dark Scrapper. I knew very little about the game at that time, and it just seemed like a good pairing.
Well, since then that Scrapper has left the game and I'm still here. It's hard to find a good hero sidekick for the child of Bealzebub who is only out being a hero to piss the old man off. When you're nearly immortal, a couple hundred years makes you still an adolecent =P

I'd say very low possibility.

Part of what they have done to appease the requests for this was to introduce the escort missions where the escort actually fights next to you for part of the mission. Unfortunately those missions are also more prevalent on the Villains side. It's just easier to put that into a new game than it is to cram it into some of those existing Heroes missions and arcs.
From a development prospective adding new missions with a new feature is easy, but going back and changing existing code without breaking it is hard.
Because hind sight is 20-20, the Villains are going to end up getting little perks like this that we won't. Heroes were the basis for the platform, Villains get the benifit of 2 years of player requests before it was developed and released.
What I expect in the future is more of the "assisting escort" missions on Heroes too. But I doubt we get anything as permanent as the Patron power sets offered. With the remote possibility that a Veteran Reward might offer up a power like this to summon a sidekick. But because that would apply to so few.......doubtfull.

I never brougt myself to actually post this on official forums when I had concocted my version. I know others have brought it up.
It would be a great implement to the game, sort of on the lines of Henchmen/Heroes for GW. Maybe if they ever do a CoH 2 or something.

I am sorry. Yesterday I got some really bad news and I just have not felt very chipper since. Hopefully sometime I will get back to being the old happy Lunar.
