Certainly seems that way, though I haven't tried it. Hey, you never know, maybe it means it gives you more drops when you're alone. One can always hope.

If only it worked that way...

no, you get less drops going solo. what i havent tried is bringing a full team of hench and flagging them out of your way so that they dont take drops, then maybe the drop amt. will still be scaled to a full party? no time right now, so if someone could test this that would be great.

Seems to be something to this. I was doing some of my farming runs in hard mode, and I got barely four drops (crappy whites, all) out of twenty four monsters.

I dont think this update is bad at all. Yes; solo farming might be less profitable then it used to. But last time i checked; this game was meant to be played with several people in a team. In missions/explorable areas nothing has changed. If you want to 'solo' still; equip a 8 man hero/hench party; flag them at the nearest rez point and get to your farming spot.

As usual people will find a way around it.

Nowadays; as soon as an update comes out; people start screaming murder, fire and nerf. Try it out for 1 week first and THEN see what you think of it.

I think hard mode drops as many items as before...I hero/henched a zone of 79 monsters(got 1 point towards vanquisher) and I got 3 golds, and 2 purples, and about a full inventory of whites. I've never cleared a zone until now, but it was a small zone, one of the smallest you can get to right outside a town in prophecies(Traveler's Vale), but I dont think I would have gotten that much killing the entire zone with hero/hench before. So even if they didnt increase drops from before, I definitely got more golds/purples than ever before. To put this in perspective, before hard mode, hero/henching my way through NF...I got maybe 3 golds by the time I got to vabbi. In hard mode, hero/henching a single, small zone, I got 3 golds.

Had rogue test that out real quick, it didnt work...I assume its made to where it only counts party members A) within aggro of the monster when it dies, or B) within radar range when it dies.

It gives more loot .. i took 3 heros n killed em and solod uw :) got ecto btw

Basically that's what happened, I did however get about the same amount of drops as when I went solo before this update.

According to rogue, hero/hench there were off screen had no effect on drop rate.

But will personally test it tomorrow....take 3 hero's into UW, get them killed then solo the graspings(they cant drop crap anyway), then proceed to the smites, and see if I get an ecto or two.(havnt gotten a single ecto in the past 10 UW runs, no joke, and they were spread out over a month in time)

Well see, that changes things.....soloing before this update, the same thing dropped for a single person, as it would for 8 people. Now, if you solo'ed with hero/hench off the screen and got the same amount as before, then I would say that it worked.

As I said earlier(maybe in GC?), it seems a full party drops like the normal item drops were before, except more golds/grapes, whereas solo drops a lot less than before.

From what I can tell, loots from solo farming have decreased dramatically... and seeing as how the loot system was modified to reflect on party size, would that mean if a solo player went out to farm, he'd only get enough gold to feed his family for a day now? :P

I went through twice, once with the extra henchies and one without. Both times I got about the same as a run before the update.

Played hours today including the hard modes. The drops seem to be getting worse. What is with char carvings worth 3g doing in hard mode missions?

The mm has been weakened from the last nerf really bad,while the foes have increased in lvl and speed. This unbalance is even more extreme than the other nerfs that I know of. Although, the paragon is not seen nearly as much as before the last nerf on him. The sin is nearly a waste of time except in pvp, gvg. Guess we were having too much fun. Hopefully there will be some big changes or I will soon retire alot of my characters..including myself and two accounts of all three games. I play games to have fun.

Now maybe I'll finally be able to clear UW!

But seriously, this is great for those of us who don't like repetitive farming. For those of us who enjoy a full-team outing with our guildies.

Now you no longer have to sacrifice drops for more people.

4 Ranger trap team perhaps? Maybe something along the lines of two 2-man teams working together, that way each team could do their own thing and you could clear the areas a little faster than the usual 4-man trap team idea of all 4 trapping the same spot. Of course, you'd need to find at least one other, ideally three other, person/people you could trust. Not to mention they'd need to be competent in 2-man trapping which I don't think most UW trappers have graduated to, but its still an idea. Plus, with trappers you can kill the Aatxes which have a slightly higher ecto drop rate compared to smites.

I'm a UW trapper and I don't mind take people with me, they can learn and get some nice drops:)..

A while ago I got in UW with henchies and flagged them out of mt radar, but still have my normal drops.. Maybe it's away to avoid the solo drops or just my dumb luck:P

Guess yo can never make anyone happy. I like the update, its going to be rough and definatly drive some prices up (ectos were 11K at merchant when I got off last nite) But overall I think it is great. I was thinking that since drop rate is based on party size now and 8 man ranger trap team with 2 monk would be awesome. You could go through very quickly and effectively trapping multiple groups.
I really think this will increase the number of people getting to UW and FoW /bc there will be more full groups. Maybe I'll even get to complete that last quest in UW finally (the 4 horsemen). I clearaed one zone last nite and did one mision, and this is going to be a challenge. For those who are complaining about the speed buff and stronger enemies...stay in normal mode. It wouldn't be hard mode if they didn't make it difficult. I can't wait to get owned in the realm of torment this weekend working on my LB title.

on a postive note....think of it this way when you get a better drop youll become insaingly rich :) hope theyll stop nerfing skills that are used for farming AND pvp, pve and stuff.

I personally like it. A few guildies of mine dont like it at all. I always like clearing areas of creatures, just to see if i could. I cleared the first explorable area in NF, which has 207 foes to slay, for those who like to know, got over 1000 exp and a little bit over 600 gold. As well as 5 golds that droped from foes and 3 more from the chest in the area, and gained over 300 sunspear points. Sold all my drops, salvaged the good mods and ended up with over 6k. Took bout a hour to do it. It was fun seeing that many golds for just me, that was with a full team of heros as well. Good luck to everyone with hard mode and if you want to come with me clearing zones, the toon im playing with for these titles is Gotta Nuke Them All. GLHF.

Argh there are so many ways of encouroging players to farm 8 man, I hate to see nerfing solo farming as the way :-/

The Rt/R barrage/splinter farming that I used on Battle of Turais procession to farm 82 margonites before resulted in a pile as big as the screen of loot, more then one full inventory with 2 10 slots bags and a belt pouch could hold.

When I tried now, I got 13 white drops..
Frustrating

Actually I couldnt care less aboput solo farmers, and this just about kills the bots(imo is great). If you wanted to solo play just pick up any old game like Diablo 2 or something, I really cant understand the greatness in solo play/farm. People are so hung up on the idea of " I WIN " button in every game. But hey the "Hero flag" trick might still work so dont cry so much... ;)

try it no with 4 r/rts will go faster and drop rate will improve. only 1 person need quest.

Does this work in hard mode? I figure with the speed buff you would be unable to break aggro.

you cant do a coordinated barrage... more than one doesnt work, there, stygian veil, anywhere... so the other 3 could walk along and watch...

besides, it only took 4 barrages to kill a group anyways, there isnt much faster
