actually, i had a feeling as i read the update notes for hard mode that it is kinda like a preparation for the way the GW:EN works, just a personal thought maybe?!?

Well, while they're two completely different things, they are similar in that EotN's purpose is to keep the experienced gamers around until GW2 comes out, which is pretty much the same as hard mode.
