I'm confused.

Why when an enemy is confused and beats up on his fellow gang memebers they don't defend themselves.

A controller runs up to a group of Outcast and cast a confuse on an Outcast brawler. The brawler starts beating on a gunner. The brawler is pounding on the gunner. Another Outcast says "Nice weather were having, huh Ted?" The Outcast gunner on the ground bloody, bruised, and getting pounded says "Sure is." The Outcast gunner is unconcious and is teleported to Bricktown prison. "So, what do you think Jeff?" The brawler now unconfused says "This town is too boring. I'd wish something would happen...hey where's Ted?" The other Outcast says I think his mom called him home." Another Outcast yells out "Ha ha Teddy loves his mommy." The rest of the group laugh out loud.

RE: I'm confused.

Humph,

I've often pondered that myself when I use to use Deceive a lot. My best quesses are as followed:

1) It is traditional in gangs for one guy to start whailing on another for no good reason. The rest of the gang ignores it, waiting to see who wins.

2) The confused/deceived lands a Stunning blow, preventing the other from responding. The rest of the gang fears the attacker and does not respond.

3) The lazy Dev. did not want to encode an aggro response to a teammate gone good.

So, then lets fight to get it changed to that way. Confusion powers should earn XP like any other power.

RE: I'm confused.

Actually if you think about it when using confuse you do not directly cause the hit points of the enemy to go down. You only get xp credit for the hit points you actually remove from the enemy which I think is fair. you do get penalized slightly for using confuse. I do agree it is strange that the other gang members do not react even when hit. But I think another answer might be that if they start fighting each other than they will deplete there hit points making them easier to kill. So that might be the thinking behind it were as if one confused member attacks another member the one being attacked will lose hit points but the attacker does not and neither do his gang members so when the confuse wears off the all attack you at full health minus the one who was attacked by the one confused. Does that make sense?

RE: I'm confused.

Soloing a mission and going through it by confusing everyone is like a better way of ghosting. The Devs are trying to prevent that by makeing it so you don't earn Experience points by cheating your way through.

RE: I'm confused.

I've always been a little on the fence on this. If my Illusion controller uses Decieve, basically the same power as Confuse, and his "Puppet" defeats a villian, he gets no XP. If he launches Phantom Army or Phantasm and they Defeat Villians I get XP. Seems as though in either case I am not directly defeating the Villians. It takes quite a while to defeat a mob using this power, so I guess I think it would require a ton of patience to do a whole mission that way. Personally I think it should earn XP because, (1) If it misses, you could have a whole mob on you & (2) It is a power in the set and because you used it the villians are defeated, it's not like they just decided to beat themselves up and you are enjoying the benefit. Guess it will probably never change but it is a odd power compared to most.

Marine

PS ( the first time I went to Warburg someone used this power on Marine, I defeated 2 of my teammates before I realized what was going on, they got very real Debt but neither I nor my Puppetmaster got anything, just seems weird )

I Guess it all boils down too is how things are done. When using Confuse you are using an enemy to do your dirty work so whatever power they are using to fight their gang member is not directly yours so even though you put them in a state to fight their gang member it is not your power that is hitting this gang member it is thiers therefore you are not depleteing their hitpoints the enemy is. When using Phantom army or Phantasm they are your minions or representation of your power so your power is causing them to deplete the enemys hit points so you gain xp that way. If your power mises than like any other power that misses than you aggro the crowd.

It is a little different with PvP and teamates. When you were hit with confuse You were not hitting an enemy you were striking a friend and teamate. I know in Warburg you can attack a hero or villain but it is diffrent when they are a team member. You said you did not realize you were confused so you did not intentionally strike out at your team mates. Unfortunately you only get xp by defeating enemys and since this was a friend and not an enemy you got no xp. The puppetmaster did not directly deplete the enemys hit points so he/she did not earn xp either. If this was PvP then your teamates should not have earned any debt from this experience.

It's possible that they've changed some things since I last had Deceive, but, originally, misses didn't cause aggro. You could target and fire all day, and it didn't matter. I remember spending a half hour trying to Deceive an AV. I finally got a hit, and the AV cleared the mob around him. It was fun...But I wouldn't waste that amount of time again.

RE: I'm confused.

Hummm,

Yes you are correct Mal, you can throw Deceive all day and not draw any aggro. And yes, when I was young and foolish, opposed to being old and foolish as I am now, I did use to clear missions using Deceive. I took down a number of tough villian like FrostFire by getting their minions to reduce thier health to almost nothing, and then rushing in to finish with Blind and Spectral Wounds.

Get experiance for doing that? Phift! It was poor play on my part, why should I get exp for that? I've refined my attack plan over the years and long ago discarded Deceive.

Now, lest someone think I am flaming them for using Confuse/Deceive, be assured I am not. Each plays as they see fit and for me Deceive no longer fits my style. But Gads, it use to be so much fun to watch one bad guy run over and start beating down another.

RE: I'm confused.

That is a good point. I've always thought that if were looking in "Real life=Game" terms then I would say that each minions knows not to hurt each other because they are "Brothers". So when one is confused the other may take damage but a "Brother would never kill a "Brother". In non gaming terms its that there is a code that has been programmed in their artificial intelligence is to only attack players between their lvl +3 and everything else below (unless some other random code bit is stuck in there to attack opposing gang members). So either the designers were too lazy to put in an exception or they didn't on purpose. I'd write the code but i'm a little rusty and lazy. More on the lazy.

RE: I'm confused.

When you are confusing an enemy you are making them your pet. It's not argoing to make a pet like any other controller summoning there pet. With all the times trying to hit and wasting endurance you could be doing something else. As for not creating argo. Other controllers are doing the same. They're sending out their pets and standing back. So in a way they are ghosting missions as well. If they changed decieve and confuse to draw argo like other controllers pets it still wouldn't be fair. Because their would be many minions verses your one minion. Which mean that minion wouldn't get very far. So you would have to make sure your temporary pet that doesn't last even a quarter long as other controllers pets stays alive to have any effectiveness.
