Ok i have played GW now for about 8 months and have pretty well mastered the role of monk, warrior, ranger, and dervish. Does anyone know of an effective (still works) build to solo the UW or FOW? Every build i have found is either old and no longer works due to nerfs or simply does not work at all. Any help would be much appreciated!!

For UW
W/Rt; a guide can be found for this on these forums.
there are other professions that can solo UW as well and which are very good. Ill just post them to be a bit more complete ;p
E/Rit; kills aatxes and smites
E/Me; aka terra tank (can be found on wiki); only for the smite area
Rt/Me; vengeful farmer; only smite area

Theres many builds that still work for normal mode UW. If you wish to farm HM UW, you will have to use a duo build.
I personally use the W/D build:
Flail
Victorious sweep
Counter attack
Power attack
Rending aura
Dolyak signet
Enraging charge
Defy pain
14 strength/12 scythe mastery/8 wind prayers
That setup requires a scythe with 20% enchanting, and zealous makes things easier.
If you cant get a 20% enchanting, use 11 wind prayers and 10 scythe mastery.
That also uses a helm with +1 str and a minor str rune.
Its simple to use too, pull the graspings with enraging charge, then put up dolyak and hit them, put up flail, hit them again, defy pain....now Victorious Sweep will heal you every time you use it, and if you use a zealous and are hitting 3 things, you will get 21 energy for every counter attack. This build is known to be as fast, if not slightly faster than the W/Rt.
Another change, if you would rather be able to run through the aatxes with a constant speed buff, use Pious Haste in place of Enraging Charge, you wont get the adren boost on your first hit, but you have a chainable 33% speed buff. I personally use Pious Haste, so I dont have to wait for Enraging Charge to recharge.

Its not an easy farm to master but practising on wardens in Autrumn Ruins will be an asset. If the wardens cant interrupt the build anymore and/or if you can keep yourself alive even with interrupts; then you are ready for UW.
Also mind; its not the fastest farm; but it does take on aatxes, graspings and smites.
When a dying nightmare pops up; run back to the startpoint and seek refuge behind benton. As a little trick; if you have unmoving aatxes gathered in a group of 3; then there is a dying nightmare nearby. If you see that; aggro; run back behind benton. Aatxes wont attack then and you can wand the nightmare. Wait for energy to regen then cast enchants and take out the aatxes.

Not sure if that's worth it or not. Personally, I screw up the terra tank build enough to barely make a profit not including ectos, so I probably wouldn't do so great with that.

all i can say is; practise makes perfect.
Other easier ways are trapper builds.
For solo you will need the speedtrapper but i am more fond of 2, 3 or 4 man trapper team. You can do one run in 30-45 mins. It pwns Aatxes, graspings, smites and if your feeling like it; also the coldfires.

Wow thanks for the great content! I will try several of these.
I currently three man the UW and it's ok, but after making two runs last night and between all theree of us on two full runs we only got 1 saphire i think it's time to start soloing it to make it worth while any more.
I tried a build that used mo/me and illusionary weaponry, but it failed. I practiced on the Jade brotherhood outside the market and it worked great, but the aatxes smoked me in no time flat. Bleeding etc. etc. Brotherhood was 1000 times easier than the cows.
Anyway, thanks for the input! Will be practicing with several of these builds.

theres a very simple solution to that; engage the aatxes but dont attack yet; cast SV or AV and wait 8 seconds... why 8 seconds; because then deadly riposte runs out and due to AV and SV they cant recast it; and therefore you will stay free from bleeding :) then cast IW and beat them :)

There's the Rt/W with Gladiator's defense, Cruel Was Daoshen, Splinter Weapon, Cyclone Axe and other stuff..
It's really fast for smites only but it takes a while to get used to. (only recommended for experienced solo UW'ers :D)

I tried this again last night three times to no avail. Still the bleeding issue until i run out of energy trying to keep up my hp. I must be missing something here.

You have tried just standing for 8-10 seconds? no attacking or whatsoever; only casting AV/SV? start attacking in the 3 cast of AV/SV then; that should give enough margin to let riposte wear down.

The w/rt is the easiest one to do, watch a video on youtube
so you understand how to comeplete the quest and run through,
i can do this easily but my freind always aggros the aatxe or something and always i have to run to the smites then run back and res him.
I wouldnt recommend the Illuisionary weaponary build because its quite slow, ok you can hit a lot of people at once,
but the aatxe are good at regenerating there healt so it takes ages, and also the whole power spike thing is dangerous
( even more so now because the cast of rend enchants has been reduced ).
Theres a technuiqe called lure and bite which is particulry effective ( it involves running away and actually losing your enchantments , but if you want to do 55hp it takes a lot of skill and practice.
But the plus side of 55hp is you can kill anything which means you should be able to farm for longer without drop reduction.
BTW i use spoil victor instead of IW , its very fast, slight speed reduction on a monk though.
A lot of people are using the solo echo trap build now for ranger, i find this build dangerous and difficult because
usually when the attaxe get hit by the traps, they still have about 50-100 hp left

How i use it? Whats "the beach"? I never understood "beach" i done a lot of FoW but never saw a beach?

The beach is the area where the scales, dryders and driftwoods are. The build is easy to use. Cast Vow of Silence and pious haste and run to the right, past the mobs and let the patrol that comes from the right pass. While running keep up Vow of Silence and Pios Haste up. Dont let Pious Haste run out or you will lose Vow of Silence. When the patrols are past, run into there and attack the 3 driftwoods. But before engaging cast physical resistance and your health enchantments. Keep them up at all times. In between upkeeping them use your attacksills. When engaging the dryders upkeep Vow of Silence and attack them with the 2 attackskills. Dont put up your enchants. Without a 20% enchantment mod on your scythe there is a 2 sec gap in between in which they can use shatter enchantment and do a lot of damage. For running past the scales, use VoW of Silence and Pious haste, with a 20% mod you can upkeep VoW and dont have to worry about the possible degen. This is pretty much the tactic :)

After entering FoW if you take a right and hug the wall for a bit you'll go past a couple of patrols and there is a pillar to your left. Ahead, there is a gap in the right-wall which leads down to the beach. You gotta watch out for a couple more patrols of Shadows which run out of there when you get near it. Hide behind the pillar until they've gone then you can go and start wacking the driftwoods.

Yay! After trying and dieing (getting some shards meanwhile) I got used to the build/run.
Just now I finished a run, first time to actualy clear all the beach/cave. Here is the outcome :D
All that in 1 full run (I sold Shards when I died before to have money to enter lol...)
The only downpoint is I done it like 5 times and died. I did get some shards but I kept seeing 2 Obi Chests but I never got the key.
6th time. Full run (Pic Above) oddly enough NO FREAKING CHEST!
7th run is run to bed and sleep ZzZZZZzzz :P Thanks for build !
