You seriously need polls! What else would we have to do in our spare time then answer mindless polls!
No seriously, people can laugh at your designing skills for not adding polls. Polls are what put the R in Forums.

Its been talked about, discussed from every angle and its been decided they arent useful. Most of the time if they have a forum discussion connected they deteriorate into flame wars.
Gameamp has been poll free since inception and its never hurt site activity or such. I have yet to meet a members that said....what no polls? Im out of here!. And if that is reason to leave (or hate) a site then I laugh in mockery. And didnt you know....

I think it falls under Satire of the three Ss of comedy. I may be wrong though, anyone know?
I really have never seen a poll turn into a flame war unless it was used stupidly.
This is what a poll should be:
What Epic Archtype do you favor?
A: Peacebringers
B: Warshades
That is why polls are fun, but I can see where your point is if someone is being a complete @$%$#@% and says:
Do you think (some username) should go to (underworld term)
A: Yes
B: No
but even if someone does that, they should have already been banned for just being a complete loser. So I still don't see how polls can turn into flame wars, sure someone may start a poll that is rude so you just warn em and delete the topic. The only other thing that comes to mind is fierce debates but that will happen even without polls. If anyone has a link to the topic that debated this please let me know.

well, if we did have polls, they wouldn't be like the ones you described above. they would probably something small on the side of the page like done on ESPN.com or other sites. i think i'm safe in saying that they would not be member generated.
there are always topics brought up like the ones you described above. i.e. the invisibility for scrappers and tankers thread that has been around for the past week or so. technically, it is a poll, but those types of threads always pop up.

I agree with this. I have been viewing this site for over a month now, and realised that GameAmp members are so tight and friendly, that polls aren't needed. In general, you have a topic/question added to forums and opinions, choses, suggestions and comments and so on are added within minutes of the thread being posted. There is no need to add "numbers" (caus thats what polls do) to members prefered choices.
I do enjoy the odd poll, but pretty sure that you can start a thread about a would-be poll topic and you'll get your numbers just by the posts added without having an actual poll.
