Teleporting the person to a safe location however does sound good.

Yup, that's pretty much it. You don't use it in the middle of combat as they are ressed with low health anyway, so the energy loss is insignificant. It is useful for ressing people who have died in aggro range of enemies, and pulling them to a safe spot. It also allows you to cheat on Dunes of Despair bonus :P

rebirth has saved me in many tight spots, i have my tahlk and my ele hero equiped with rebirth, if my team is going down i send them away, whichever one can make it. they heal up then come and can rez the whole team one byone out of harms way. i used to think rebirth was a waste too, with the lose all energy and all. but i have grown fond of it now during mission and exploring. a hero with rebirth in a tough mission you dont wanna do all over again, and they can rez you out of harms way and get your team back up and running? thats all i could ask for

I prefer touch rezzes myself and flesh of my flesh better but hey rebirth is good for b/p and trap groups.

Best used during Abbadons Mouth when you are in the aggro of the Lightning towers, they will ko you before you can get up.

In PvE I figure that someone who isn't going to be ressing mid fight like the Monk should have Rebirth. It's a lifesaver skill imo and a last resort. If you have to use it the whole team probably got wiped in bad agro!
If I put it on a Hero I lock it off so that they don't zero their energy half way through a fight.

I find it has the best use in elite missions and god areas. Not so much in huge boss fights and long drawn out fights.

one thing you can do if you have it equipped on your skill bar is create a weapon set with no weapons in it. that way you can switch to it, use rebirth then switch to your real weapon set that gives you energy bonuses and what not. you can essentially
"save" some energy before you use rebirth.

yeah Rebirth is good for party wipes like once we had 3 aggromaniacs on Mayhem and we all had 60% dp but the monk managed to run past the afflicted's aggro range and rezzed the team with rebirth and we did the quest without having to restart^^
and yeah Bubbada's right you can also use a -energy weapon and a armor with no bonus then swap after rebirth.

My monk is pretty much all smiting, with 1 or 2 non-Smite skills. I also bring along Blessed Signet, though, yes, you have to wait for it to recharge, it helps with the Energy regain. Couple that with the aforementioned reason and that's why I use Rebirth.

O.o do people do that? I only use hard rezzes in PvP; no need to do long casting skills for rezzing. By the time you rezzed your teammate; you will be ganked to death if not interrupted and making the whole rez useless.

Lol...as Mriswith says, there is no good reason to use it in PvP, it's a PvE skill. Usually the only hard-res skills used in PvP are ones that res the target to near-full health in the middle of battle to save your teams res-sigs. Skills such as Res chant - usually combined with Mesmer Fast Casting or Elementalist Glyph of Sacrifice.
I'd take a guess at the person you saw using rebirth as a Wammo in RA. Don't ever do what a wammo does, as a general rule of thumb..
