I have heard lot's of things about add-on's to Azeroth and Northrend and Ashara's part and anything else would be added in time. I read this thing on the internet a couple days ago and Blizzard was suggesting an expansion to WoW or a huge-ass patch that would expand the world and characters alike. As of right now the latest patch just unleashed a new place that went along with the Night Elves so sooner or later they shall do Arthas of course, this is what I read/heard from other players and the net. But the thing is, is that Blizzard would have to make a whole new thing instead of coming out with a $50 expansion that would just be for some little parts. But a new patch that had everything new in it would take FOREVER to DL even on the good hardware many people have. At least this is what I heard/read, maybe it will help and maybe it won't. ^-^

A common way to integrate expansions in MMORPG is that you can only access certain parts of the world if you have the right software installed. The way Guildwars works is that you will pay to buy different continents or land masses you can visit (at least i believe thats right).
Ultima Online has been adding expansions for years and EQ is no stranger to expanded the already populated worlds. Blizzard will find a happy medium as per usual.
