I9 Issues?

Not sure if this is intended or a bug and I can't find anything about it in a quick search of forums, so I'll put it out there in case someone can shed some light...

Ran the Inventions tutorial and made a lvl25 ACC IO on my 32 blaster, ACC increase from it is 32.0%, a lvl 30 ACC SO is 26.7% and the lvl 35 SOs she's got are 38.3% so it's a nice bonus vs. SO's. lvl 25 IO comparable to say a lvl 32/33 SO.

So I run off & blast things, get the salvage & recipe for a lvl35 DMG IO, great, boost the DMG output, so I make it, and the 35IO grants a 36.7% bonus, my 35SO enhancements grant a 38.3% bonus... who's math is that? shouldn't a 35 IO grant a better bonus than a 35 SO?

just wondering if I've been missing something about this new IO setup or if maybe there's a bug with the 35s? just glancing at lower ones, the only ones I can check vs. stock on different alts, an IO is stronger at the same level than an SO/DO but maybe this changes as you get higher in level, in which case, why bother inventing after the 20s unless you're going for the bonuses?

any thoughts would be appreciated!

Nas :)

RE: I9 Issues?

If I can remember what was told to me, an IO between 20 and 30 is better than a DO but a tad worse than a SO.

I think I read/heard that a 50 IO is slightly less effective than a SO, but could be mistaken.

The point of IOs is to slot them early so you don't have to continually repurchase enhancements as they expire.

RE: I9 Issues?

I saw a chart somewhere -- and I don't remember where, might've been paragonwiki -- that showed the difference in increases between IOs and SOs (distinguishing between the rare set IOs and standard IOs that only enhance one aspect of a power). The rare set IOs increase stats more than anything else, and I think that standard IOs are slightly higher than SOs at high levels, but you can't combine IOs, so SOs may offer slightly higher enhancements in the long run if you have, for example, a 40++ SO instead of a 40 IO. I also recall that the chart showed IOs getting better than SOs in the late 30s. If I can find the chart again I'll drop a link.

I can't find the chart, but I do find something that may help a little: Paragonwiki on Invention Origin Enhancements.

"There is no maximum slotting level with IOs, and strength is based only on the enhancement level, not on the level of the player who slots them. IOs never expire/go red, and their strength never decays. If a level 10 enhancement gives a 10% bonus, then it can be slotted by a level 7 character or a level 50 character for the same 10% bonus. Though the same enhancement built with a higher level will give a higher bonus, so there is still incentive to upgrade as levels are gained.

schedule A enhancements are set to 10% bonus at level 10, up to a maximum of a 40% bonus at level 50."
