Hello everyone! OK so I know I'm amongst friends here when I say this and I would like every ones opinion on this.
Yesterday at my school it was basically a do no work day at school. It was late in the day and everyone was talking in my Spanish class. Me and my buddy were talking about something and all the sudden I started playing around and I actually got slapped. Now before you make any judgements of anyone you must consider this
*People have been calling hi ma punk for weeks now for an incident previously(I am not part of these people)
*I was in no way planning on physically harming him
*After the incident we immediately made up and were friends again
Now even though this was the case me and him were suspended. Me for 2 days him for one. Now me and my family have already established that this is unfair for both me and the guy who hit me. What I want to know is what could the school administration possibly be thinking? I can see this from my perspective and the other students but not theirs and considering they are the ones that went overboard their point of view would be most important.

I'm considering suing the school if they don't let me make up my work. They can't just screw with my grades beacuse they think getting slapped in the face is wrong...

I know what you're saying I got suspended for 45 days for having a pocket knife at a football games..WTH...and they wouldn't let me do my work. But w/e got 45 days off school. ^^

if they don't let you make up the work you can sue for future income lost due to grades. its total bs that admins will just suspend someone for something stupid. our whole cafeteria was luaghing one time, our admin came in and yelled at us and said that this was unsafe and endangering to our health.

You shouldn't have been suspended of course, you should have been arrested that way you get a real punishment.
To the main issue: You mean you started scrapping and he slapped you? Or you started calling him a punk and he slapped you? Unless you retaliated in a stupid and offensive/agressive way then neither of you deserve to be suspended. The sheer fact that you two were friends straight away that should have been plenty of proof that there was no malice or harm. Emotional or physical.
Don't sue the school. You lost 2 days of work, big deal, ask a friend to help you catch up or find out what it was on and get a textbook from the library.
Before you know it shaking hands will be counted as an offensive act, I mean come on, think of all the bacteria you're sharing you could kill someone.

Well the 2 days of work will make me fail two classes this quarter. 2 tests and 3 projects. Oh and he hit me in the face and then the teacher told him to get out. I didn't ahve time to respond. I was shocked. Also I didn't provoke or make fun of him. He is again my friend.

Then they have no right to suspend you at all. Especially on what are obviously two of the most important days of the semester. That's disgusting of them. I changed my mind, sue their for the tuition fees that they've made you waste + some more so it hurts.

thats crap,
but teachers in US(im assuming) must be really really strict
coz me and my mates used to jump across tables n staple each others arms n stuff with the teacher there, and nothin happened 2 us

Yeah, I almost got suspended at school for LEANING BACK IN MY CHAIR in art class. It is ridiculous. Just try to blow it off and don't worry too much. Try to get the work done from a friend or fellow classmate.

word.. my teacher thought that I thought my chair was an airplane -.-
I made an airplane of paper while we were doing origami..
...and I got suspended because I said that a girl must crack the ''ding dong'' if she is about to get raped (if you know what I mean ^^)
Now we moved, and I'm currently at another school xD

Well pending the meeting me my mother and the other students mother have with the principal that may be the case.

I only bothered to read the first post, but i used to be a substitute teacher and i really don't see any point to that. So all i can think of is two words: Zero Tolerance. So yea....sucks....

VT has nothing to do with any of this. WTF happened to schools these days? It's only been 10 years since I graduated and we use to do all kinds of stupid things. Maybe got a few detentions for horseplay, but getting suspended for a slap?!! That's just ridiculous. A lot of the things people wrote about on here are stupid. Who's running these schools anyways?

Something close to that happened to me before.. cept i was suspended for about a month.. so i say the the principal ( I actually said this btw.. ) " What the hell is your problem!? " which got me to 40 days.. cuz i used the words "hell" Heres the thing about my school though, you CANT make up work.. so if you get suspended, or w/e, your screwed. when I came back I had 0% in all classes because this happened at the end of a grading period. took me forever to get my grades back up to A's

I'm not believing that you got suspended for being slapped by a guy [I would suspend him just to teach him how to throw a punch]. Come on, there has got to be more of a story, a school just doesnt do that. And i dont know what the big deal with being suspended for a day is, if your a person who likes to work so hard that if they miss a day of school you need to cry, then just revise what you think you would be learning at home. And who ever said sue the school im hoping that was a joke.

CHINA is a country, its in Asia. and i can kinda see why he thinks africa is a contry as in the news and charitys etc. its always referded to as a country, ''Donate £/$ 3 a month to save people in Africa''. <<[Sorry if i sound as stupid as this guy]

Don't mis-understand. I'm not calling anyone stupid or anything. My point is that kids are kids. You're gonna horse around. There's no need for schools to be so strict and try to make your time there miserable.
I say that VT has nothing to do with this because it was one crazy guy who went on a rampage. This happens in other places besides schools too. Your chances of being in a school where someone goes homicidal are about as good as winning the lottery. We can't love our lives in a plastic bubble under constant surveillance. A pocket knife at a football game? Leaning back in your chair? Laughing in the cafeteria? There's nothing wrong with any of that. Now societies gone nuts and look what happens.....YOU get suspended for getting slapped.

schools are crazy now a days. at my school if ytou start geting hit/beat up and not do anything YOU and him get suspended. makes no sense to me.

LOL! Arrested? I took it out once relizing I had it..I was working in my backyard and then went to the football game. And some kid saw and said I was threatening him and I wasn't doing
ANYTHING!

oh thats rough, i mean, i got/get in plenty of trouble and had my fair share of suspensions and such, whether i deserved them or not. but for being the one who was hit? was there anything else to play in this role? even if he is your friend you werent egging him on? it just seems strange for them to do it that way, suspending you for being hit. ive been sent to the office so many times whenever i was asked to see anyone people knew it was cause i was introuble. but the one that got me ticked off the most was getting a 4 hour detention on a saturday for correcting a sub and having an arguement with a sub on how to say MY OWN LAST NAME! but since i was in and out of trouble all the time my story never held up and i was writtin up for disrupting the class and causing an arguement and delaying the learning process for the other students, bleh
