How ya doing? I'm new to both GW and Gameamp. Now, I've purchased the PvP edition of Nightfall. I must say, it's
really fun. My primary profession is a Dervish, and my secondary is currently Monk. At heart, I'm one to fight aggressively. Yet, I chose monk for the reason I would like to help the team more. Now I come seeking advice.
My Question:
What would be the best thing for me to do to fulfill my dream to be a great aggressive fighter?
Suggestions like Nightfall only builds, a better profession choice (primary or secondary), or strategies would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you in advance!

First off.. WELCOME TO GAMEAMP!
Okay it honestly depends on what you would like to do.
A). Beat the crap outta people with a hammer, axe, or sword
Warrior
B). Become the Grim Reaper
Deverish
C). Annoy th 4311 outta some1:
1.) Mesmer (takes a while to master)
2.) Ranger (many builds that deal great dmg and you can get a pet!)
3.) Elementalist (Basically high dmg in a short amount of time)
4.) Paragon (IMO, they are not that great, but the shouts and chants are helpful sometimes)
D). Be in the back of the group, healing Protecting, or in the front owning.
Monk

EDIT: Actually, what would you suggest, and how would one act in that profession? I personally prefer A or B. But then again, I would like to have help making a good strategy.
ADDED: This isn't a very active forum is it?

Well, imo Dervishes shouldn't be used as Backup/Protectors, Derishes can deal great damage, I think you should take advantage of that and check the build archive for some good builds.

Well, since you only have Nightfall, you're only melee options are going to be warrior and dervish. If you really want to get in there and tear things up, your better bet would be the dervish, as they can attack up to three foes with each attack. Honestly, I don't know any good PvP builds for dervishes, I rarely PvP, and I play dervish even less. My advice would be to try to come up with something on your own. I'm not sure exactly what the PvP package gets you, but since you're new, it's going to take awhile to get used to the game mechanics and play style. So just put some skills into a build that look good (don't spread yourself too thing, three attributes is good to focus on, maybe even two), and try it out for awhile, making changes as you see fit. If you spend some time in RA, you will learn a lot even if you don't have a good build.

what he said ^
seriously though, if you only have the nightfall skills available, i would recommend either a dervish or paragon.
why?
because all the builds for them are going to be nightfall only, as they are nightfall only, if you try a warrior or monk, you'll load a build, there will be 3 non-nf skills missing. So my advice would be play a little with derv and if you wanna play other profs you would probably have to buy at least one other pack.
But yeah, look on the internet for a good build and get used to using the profession in Random Arenas.
EDIT: Just looking on my guild site at the moment for a build, try this:
D/W
Nightfall Wearying Strike
Scythe Attack. If this attack hits, you deal +33 damage and inflict a Deep Wound for 10 seconds. You suffer from Weakness for 10 seconds. (Attrib: 16 Scythe Mastery)
Nightfall Chilling Victory
Scythe Attack. If it hits, this attack strikes for +21 damage. Whenever it hits a foe who has less Health than you, target foe and all adjacent foes are struck for 63 cold damage. (Attrib: 16 Scythe Mastery)
Nightfall Victorious Sweep
Melee Attack. If this attack hits, you deal +33 damage. If the target foe has less Health than you, you gain 83 Health. (Attrib: 16 Scythe Mastery)
Nightfall Burst of Aggression
Stance. For 2..8..11 seconds, you attack 33% faster. When this Stance ends, you lose all adrenaline. (Attrib: Strength)
Nightfall Avatar of Melandru
Elite Form. For 62 seconds, you have +100 Health, you are unaffected by Conditions, and your attacks deal earth damage. This Skill is disabled for 120 seconds. (Attrib: 13 Mysticism)
Nightfall Pious Haste
Stance. For 11 seconds you move 33% faster. When this Stance ends, you lose one Enchantment. (Attrib: 13 Mysticism)
Nightfall Guiding Hands
Enchantment Spell. For 20 seconds, your next 3 attacks cannot be blocked. (Attrib: 2 Wind Prayers)
Core Resurrection Signet
Signet. Resurrect target party member. That party member is returned to life with 100% Health and 25% Energy. This Signet only recharges when you gain a morale boost.
if you need anything else pm me on GA or ingame:

Well, if you really want to beat the crap out of everyone, going melee, the best choice would be to have a combination of either Dervish/Warrior/Assassin ; with that, you would have the best of all of those professions as for the fighting skills. That would leave you a little bit vulnerable to the attacks of other people though and would leave only small place for self healing, which can come handy at some times. To compensate for that, you could take either Monk or Ritualist as a secondary. Some also say that Paragon can do the job, but as for myself, I have never tried that class.
If you don't care of going melee and just want to do massive damage to others, well, I would then suggest you to make an ele. They can do really awesome damage, but they are very vulnerable to the attacks of the others, so you have to stay out of trouble at the same time as casting.
Those are my 2 cents.
And BTW, welcome to gameAMP!

Here's I build I made just for you.
Strength of honor
Judges insight
Vow of Strength
Veil of thorns
Zealous renewal
Heart of fury
Signet of pious light
Rez
8 smiting
8 mysticism
13 scythe mastery
8 earth prayers
If that doesn't add up right lose some in scythe mastery
You throw up your main enchantment soh before the battle begins. Before you actually get in the fight throw on judges insight zealous renewal vow of strength and heart of fury. If they start attacking you throw up veil of thorns. If you start dying keep using signet of pious light. It has high dps and quick healing so it should work well.
