Epics help

Ok I got my main to level 44 last Saturday and I want to ask what epics would be good for my Stone/Super Strength tanker. I currently have the Energy Mastery set, but it's not really pleasing me. I was thinking of using the free respec we got to change to Pyre Mastery. I don't plan on using another respec since I have a perfect aggro tank. If this helps, I like teaming a lot and I don't have endurance problems (ever since I added end reduxs to my powers) or accuracy problems. I probaly should wait til level 47 so I can get the full benefit of the Energy Mastery set, but I'm having second thoughts about it.

What I'm trying to say is, I need some input and suggestions on my Epics choice.

RE: Epics help

I have the Energy epic on my stone/SS tanker, but I too am thinking of getting rid of at least laser beam eyes, crappy dmg now that I actually look at the dmg it does. I've had personal experience with fire and stone mastery. Fire is great for doing some fun damage, and its Char is a handy little tool for any pests buzzing around you. Stone was an interesting set to play with, very controller like. The Sleep won't do much, unless you solo, without mud pots. The other powers were nice tho, but not my style for tanking. I don't know about Ice, but the Hold and ice blast looks nice, but skip the storm power, since it will only do the opposite of herd.

Take Pyre Mastery, it has some really great powers.

I would also advise pyre. Fire ball now acts as a second taunt for me, but me with damage and a higher mob cap. There isn't a lot in it between the tank sets though, they are all mediocre.

Thanks guys, I'll try out the Earth Mastery (controllerish feeling sounds interesting) and Pyre Mastery on the test server.

RE: Epics help

The two I suggest is Either Pyre Mastery or Earth Master.

Earth Master because:

Salt Crystals-Attempts to encrust all foes within a large area around the caster in a Pillar of Salt. The victims will remain encased within the salt for quite a while, but will break free if attacked.

Fossilize-Encases a single target within solid stone. The stone slowly crushes the victim, dealing Smashing damage. The Fossilized victim is held helpless and unable to defend himself.

Stalagmites-You can cause Stalagmites to erupt all around an enemy, slicing all nearby foes. The Stalagmites deal lethal damage, and reduce the affected targets Defense. Some affected foes may be Disorient for a short while. You must be on the ground to activate this power.

Salt Crystals and Stalagmites are good mob control and both PBAoE so it catchs good aggro while keeping the mob in shape.

Pyre Mastery because:

Char-Incapacitates a targeted foe at a distance by charring him with smoldering soot and cinders.

Fire Blast-Sends a Blast of Fire at a targeted foe and sets the target on fire for a short period of time.

Fire Ball-Hurls an exploding Fireball that consumes a targeted foe, and all nearby enemies. Anyone in that explosion is burned and set ablaze.

Pyre Mastery is good cause it deals more damage than any other and seeing that your a Stone tanker Pyre Mastery has a Ranged attack (Fire Blast) so it saves you from chasing after a baddy.

So they're both an Even pick and I'd like to let you choose which one will suit you better.Good luck on the road to 50!

RE: Epics help

Thanks Houston, I'll probally hit 50 this summer, depending on what's happening.

I tried both Earth Mastery and Pyre Mastery and just Energy Mastery alone, and I've made my decision. Seeing as I want the aggro on me and I'm not worried about kissing the ground, I'm gonna go with (drum roll)..............Pyre Mastery Set! I tried Fire Blast and it was incredible, though I can't use Fireball yet, I'm sure that it is very good. And Char was also good, I usually put Char on a minion or Lt. and go for the boss in the mob, if there is one.

Thank you all for the input! :)

RE: Epics help

if i were u i would choose the energy epic cos its the only epic that doesn't have an immobalize power and i guess tht an immobilize power is pointless if your going to be attacking at melee range so u see but u might be able to skip the immobilize power in the epics so they could all be good

My fav 4 chars

Neon Blizzard - Tank ice/energy
Neon Fissure - brute stone/Energy
Robo Titan - MM bots/traps
Aieou - Dom Plant/Fire
Pyroxide - Blast fire/energy
Shadow Doom - Stlk Dark/ninjitsu

iv kinda split them into 3 sections

the Neons are Identical Twins who Who are aligned with different paths

Shadow and pyr are both victims of Dr. Nights failed LunarFusion mutation experiment

Robo Titan and Aieou are both behemoths(not Cot) figures from different areas of the globe
Robo Titan - Greek Titan
Aieou - God of Protection, from monsatu isle(mid pacific)

RE: Epics help

Pyre is great for Damage, and Char makes very good additional Damage Mitigation. I use it with my blaster to lock down baddies that I know will give me trouble, such as Sappers, or to help lock down bosses so they don't drop me. I don't have a tank high enough for epics yet, but I'm seriously debating whether I will go Energy for PvP or Pyre for everything else, lol.

W.P.
