I teamed with some brutes and another mastermind the other day, and we really had rather different playstyles. He was a Ninja/potion but had many attacks, I was playing my bots/dark and i have only buffs heals and debuffs(its my lazy MM, no aggro for me). we were wrecking the mobs on the highest diff but he sent in his ninjas set to aggressive and they attacked many people at one time maybe two ninjas per person but i play with attack my target set to defensive so i pummel one guy with 5 bots atm then move to the next one. as we hit the mob i set my bots on a Lt or boss baddy and then run around the mob to buff/heal my teammates and i noticed that his ninjas were all over the place...
My question is this, how do you guys run your MMs. Agressive taking on the mob? or more defensive taking down individual targets? have you found one to be more effective than the other?

I have my bots on attack on who I have targetted then bring them back to passavis then to the next target. Or I would have a another target ready and hit attach target again. I try to keep my bot under contral.

My MM attack style is target one at a time and keep it moving that way. Every once in a while, I'll command a 2 on 1 with the Assault Bot going solo on the higher rank. People say that this is the lazy play style, however I tend to disagree. Letting your boys just run wild all over the place is the lazy play style. Continuous commands and direction takes work, especially when you are adding the debuffs/buffs...that's what I call good game planning and execution.
I find that either way you do it, it works, however, I just find that having control of who and where your Henchmen attack is easier for you to help preserve your recasting time and energy.

i use defenive with "attack my target"as much as possible. if i'm out and out plowing through a mish, i will set them on aggressive. but in big teams or tough missions, i absolutely set them on passive, but you have to be on your toes to keep them onto the next target

On my ninja/dark MM I try and keep everything as tightly packed as possible for heals and debuffs. After that, its anything goes really. The ninja can decimate anything fast enough really. All I have to be wary of is whether or not they are attacking the anchor for Darkest Night, because that is the mob that needs to be kept alive longest. If there is a boss around I usually assert my authority a little more: I put the Oni and one Jounin on the boss to hold aggro and give a nice mix of soft and hard control while the Genin and the other Jounin get rid of everyone else before setting them all on the boss.
Though those are my main two strategies, I play according to the situation. If things aren't going too well I will use 'attack my target' to reduce DPS on my henchmen. If I am expecting ambushes, I throw down Tar Patch, stick the henchies on 'go to' and 'aggressive' and hide behind a corner. If there are annoying teleporters or cowardly flyers (yes, I'm looking at you Sky Raiders) I switch between 'passive' and 'attack my target' to stop them running all over the place.
My MM has no attacks, though if he has spare end and the ninja have aggro controlled he often jumps in with Sands of Mu. Other than that he only heals, debuffs and sees over the battle. Though I'd hardly say its lazy - I'm always on the go. Playing my MM is often like employing the Active Defence of a Blaster or Dominator. Because the ninja are always in melee, my MM also needs to be in there for heals and buffs. With all my AoE debuffs (that usually have to preceed my ninja getting involved) I can get a lot of aggro for myself and being melee it would be very easy for me to get hit. So I always have to assess the situation and use 'attack my target' or 'go to'&'defensive' to keep myself alive.

I have a few low level mms, and I hate it when people just let their minions run free, they aggro everything >.<

When I had my Bot/bub MM I was really lazy and just sent in my bots, if they died I ran away as fast as possible, resummon once it was safe and then buff my new ones. They were usually set to passive most of the time though and they didnt really die ever.

I have a robo/poison mm and what I normally do is debuff a target and then send in my pets to blow it away. I guess my playstyle with my mm is 1 target at a time so that I don't draw too much aggro but sometimes since I have several holds and a lot of debuffs I'll hit up an entire mob with debuffers/holds and then let my bots take care of the whole group. Some might say its a lazy way to play but my bots never die much and the enemies go down fast so I like it.

Pick ya target and unleash hell.
I focus on one person at a time. The more focus you give em, the quicker they die. This always works for me, you just have to make sure that you keep an eye on yourself too. Sometimes its worth setting your minions on someone, then helpin a teammate, for instance. Or saving your own evil ass.
I find that, in any game, its whatever tactic you like best.
I have an urge to try a MM without minons, for example =P

Depends....
If I want to lead the front lines or PvPing I set it up so my 3 First pets are on Defensive Follow (Bodyguard) and send the other 3 (the second and third pet types) off to fight whoever.
If my party's acting as meat shields I basically have my pets go wild. Shoot whatever.
If I'm soloing PvE,I just have em' attack whatever.
All while I'm a rather "Active" MM. I tend to shake a finger at the lazy "stand around and do nothing" MMs out there. Sure you don't do much damage but if your active your toon is like a 7th (or in some cases 8th) pet.

I agree. If you just stand in the corner you could just as well not play, and buy a lvl 50 from ebay. My poison MM is busy as hell. She heals, debuffs, traps, and because she has no attacks nor defenses she seems to get picked on by all the meanies. Good thing she does know how to run.

as a thug MM,i'll but all but the bruiser on defensive, and send my bruiser into the mob. otherwise he just stands there and throws rocks when he could be using foot stomp or ko blow. While they,re doin that ill set up traps around the mob so im actuyally contributing
