There are a number of us CoX Ampers that live in the MidWest and have kicked around the idea of a get-together, so here's my invitation to you all (including those not glamourous enough to inhabit the MidWest heh)...
Cedar Point starts HalloWeekends September 14, 15 & 16. Cedar Point offers a lot of draw to a lot of people and HalloWeekends offers content for the less 'thrill-seeking' of us to enjoy.
Deadman and I will plan to be at Cedar Point on September 15th and 16th and we invite anyone that is interested in spending the day roaming the park and meeting fellow ampers to join us. We happen to live within a reasonable distance from the park, so if anyone has questions about hotels, ticket rates, etc. please send me a PM or shout at me in game @nasali.
I would be more than willing to do some leg work about group rates, etc. if we get some response, the more of us go, the cheaper it gets and there are a ton of lodging facilities in the area to house all of us, the trick is making reservations early since the tourism is madness through the summer in Sandusky, OH thanks to Cedar Point and Lake Erie.
We could also look into some other activities if people are interested, there are fishing charters to be had and all kinds of exciting fun on good ole South Bass Island (Put-in-Bay) Would like to keep it family oriented so people with kids that play, or kids that can talk their parents into it will be comfortable and happy.
Please let me know here if you have any interest, not an RSVP, just an idea of who might be interested in a meet & greet with some mad fun mixed in.
I grew up in Michigan so I know all about Cedar Point. It's one awesome ammusement park. I think they still have the most roller coasters of any park in the country.
It would be a fun thing to do if I weren't living in Texas now. Travel just never finds it's way into the budget.
I hope you get a couple takers. And for those who like ammusement parks and haven't been to this one yet, it's well worth the trip.
I miss having the ablility to just pack up the car at 3am and just drive there for the day.

Im in Cincy and have a theme park 30 minutes away (Kings Island) and by far Cedar Point is the bestest eveeeeer. I havent been in 3 years so I have been itching to go. As long as I can gather enough funds to make the trip Grif should be able to attend.
As dates draw near I should know more. Maybe I can start saving my pennies now!
meh i'm eastern coast so I couldn't make it even if i tried. If you ever make a meeting in NYC i'd be more then happy to take a ride down there.
Also since i'm guessing maybe 4 or so ampers from the CoX site could make it, you should include some maybe other games. I Maybe even the whole game-amp network, you could hold a huge party and make the other sites jealous. But i'm just thinking that you should include some other games, make it a little bigger and you could all wear gameamp t-shirts. Just a thought.
Definitely going to put that on the calender as see if it is do-able, will also mention it to Delphon. Not a huge coaster fan but there is ton to do there either way.

If you dont like coasters your not allowed to attend....How can you not like cooasters......whoosh...zoom (makes coaster noises and motions w/ hands crazily).
Cedar Point has some of the best coasters; and thats not even my opinion many coasters shows I have caught on those learning/discovery channels agree. But there is other things to do like water but pfft....seen one puddle, seen them all. I have been looking for an excuse to go up again......I will do my damnndest to attend.
I would live in KR, always liked that zone but sadly its not reality and last time I bound from rooftop to rooftop I broke my back so.........
For those not in 'the know' here's a lil tidbit about Cedar Point
C.P. is in the Guinness Book of World Records for...
Most Coasters
Fastest Coaster with Longest Vertical Drop
Tallest Coaster
Tallest Wooden Coaster
They've also recieved numberous "Golden Ticket Awards" which are given out to the 'best of the best' in the amusement park world. Click the link above & check it out for yourself, and remember by HalloWeekends Maverick will be up & running to freak everyone out.
That all being said, my scaredy-cat buttocks will be staying firmly planted on the good ole terra firma and enjoying the Halloween decor and atmosphere (I'll be hanging with MarineX watching the rest of you crazy people hehe)

That sounds like so much fun, even though i get motion sick very easly and coasters and i dont get along. But between my last year of college and this summer trip to Italy i think im going to have to miss out on all the fun. :(
I have to clarify a bit. I have ridden a ton of coasters including most at Cedar Point, and will undoubtly revisit some favorites( Raptor, Iron Dragon, Corkscrew, Disaster Transport ). The last time I went I wrenched my Neck and it didn't straighten up for about a month ( it was surgically repaired after I broke it in 3 places in an auto accident in 1990 for a meager $250,000 ). The offending coaster on that trip was the Magnum, so I'll probably steer clear of it's Ilk. The Irony of placing a Chili Dog Stand right next to the Line to the Raptor seemed wasted on the Park Management ( and me ) until I sampled it first hand, hey, it was Lunchtime...

ohhh a wooden roller coaster noting like the sound of the clickety clack to add to the experience. I am really sorry I will miss this event....it s a 5-6 hour trip for me and worth the drive but we are at the beach that week.

Kings Island has he longest Wooden coaster in the Beast but that may be old hat. But still trippy....nothing like fearing decapitation in the tunnels because your friends told you that sometimes the planks fall from roof.....haha....got me....to this day I still duck (oddly w/ hands up though)...geez. But I love the Raptor, Millennium Force, Magnum...thats a rough one....oohhh...the lame Iron Dragon....haha....and all the other...13? coasters...they have a ton. Plus the Tower of Power...good times.
I am already trying to save up....I think I need about, oh $400 to come. Two 2 day passes, hotel, and food.

aww come on Grift you are making me drool....I love roller coasters...I tend to like the older style ones....the fear of the dark tunnels....letting go on the dips......and don't forget the screaming. Screaming make the ride so much better
Hmmm, Cedar Point or a trip to Spain, Big I think it goes with out saying you should come to C.P. I mean really, do they have cool rides in Spain? Or do they pipe scary Halloween music throughout the countryside? I think not. And of course there won't be other Ampers to hang out with in Spain, there problem solved, see you at Cedar Point Big bwahahahahaha!!!

Hell the chance to meet me in person, autograph and maybe a souvenir...is well worth the price of admission. And my crazy antics not only ensue here but there too.....what crazy hijinx will Grif get into......WHO KNOWS? Come and see! Wonder if I can get Nogame to pay for my trip...business expense!
Big I think you should come see us......360 hour flight or 4 hour drive......come on.....plus we can go check out Lake "frickin" Erie! How many times does that happen? Once, twice......12 times?
There are also a ton of options for group rates, if I get a general idea of who's interested in attending, also, I have AAA and can get discount tickets that way if we don't get enough to qualify for a group rate.
I also may have a way of getting some discounted hotel rooms for those interested in staying for the weekend, but again, need to know what kind of numbers we're looking at before I can get any more info on that.
I wanted to get the idea planted well enough in advance so people that wanted/needed to travel could plan ahead for it, but we do have about 4 months to really get ready for it.
Another idea I had was using my CafePress store to create t-shirts that we could get & wear if people are interested, my idea was a toon & name on the front pocket and some kind of event emblem on the back, but again, not sure what kind of interest people would have in an event tee.
Keep the comments coming so we can be ready to have a blast at the park.

How about we all just get one hotel room and move all the furniture to the sides of the room then fill it with those little plastic balls from Chuck-E-Cheese or place with a pit of plastic balls and have tickle fights? sounds like fun, eh?

Typical Big....lol
I just saw this thread, and I realized that it's been about 15 years since I was last at C.P....wow, I feel old now. It's tempting if for no other reason than to actually meet the lot of you in person. I'm only in the southern part of Ohio though it would be a bit of a trip for me. Better start saving my pennies just in case it works out that I can make it.
