I is teh newbie.

I'm new here, just joined about 15 minutes ago, I don't own CoV, but I will soon. I used to play FFXI but that got old real quick, anyone who has played it can vouch for that. So mainly for the past 18 months I have mainly been playing FPSs and action games but I gotta say "I miss my fellow Geeks" I like playing CS:S but there's never any dedication, no one is consistent and it's always the same map, different people. So I have decided to put back on the gloves of MMORPGing and get my hands dirty once again, but this time I need a new game with new prey, and CoV happened to catch that dark corner of my eye. I have slapped myself repeatedly for putting this game down in the past, even telling a friend that got it for xmas to return it cuz "the game sucks" but after seeing some videos and reading more about it I feel a grave mistake was made. So now here I am with $28 in my wallet and a smile on my face because as soon as I get a chance I'm making a Collector's Edition of CoV mine, I also talked my friend into re-buying the game and joining me in my quest of chaos. So in short....."Hi, Everybody."

First let me say un-welcome to the site (thats our welcome wagon we are villains remember). Its always good to see a fresh face on the mound. I would suggest getting the Good Vs Evil edition instead of getting the collectors cov pack. You get more bonuses. Even if you dont plan on playing heroes GvE gives you more character slots per server(with just cov you get 8 character slots but with GvE you get 12), a jump pack (which comes in handy at lower levels when you have no travel power), and the Pocket D Vip pass which gives you a teleport to pocket D and access to the tiki room in there. But if your set on getting the Collectors pack amazon.com has it on sale for $19.99.

well the slide is actually a form of sprint that you get in the regular game it just has a cooler animation. well what you could do is get the CoV collector set and then if you decide you like it you can always buy the code from plaync for the GvE edition for $10.00 and just upgrade your account with it so essentially you get both for just $30.00

Edit: from the post above from ViV, yes the Prestige Power Slide is cool, it is like Sprint, they are both inherent powers, which means you get them right when you start a character, they are both very slow powers but better than just running, but from personal experiences, i think the power slide is a tad faster than sprint, but i may be wrong.

Ah cool, I'm also a bit of a Geek and I also want the card deck and the little figures that come in the DVD Collectors box.
BTW, what does the Jump Pack do and what does it look like?

it's kinda like a super super jump, you go very high, and slowly move foward, and it looks like a rocket pack, but with 3 jets instead of 1.

the jump pack is looks like a little rocket pack on our back it allows you to jump alot higher to get over high walls and what not.

Yay a new player to the game ^_^ You should totally go for the GvE edition I picked it up since I lost both my CoH and CoV cds. For the little figures you get, yeah... its only one and your like best buying them seperate if they even make them. I have one which is Capt. Mako, kinda crappy looking and I dont really understand the purpose of it much. But yeah the GvE edition gives you the jump pack which lets you jump several times in the air instead of waiting to land like Super Jump. I use it personally for Flying, it makes you go like 2x faster which is great. It's also nice to have with Super Speed since you can't really get to many places with just SS. You also get the Justice and Sinister costume parts which look really cool.

Hey! I'm the resident creepy dude that likes to sit in the corner and watch people from the darkness! Anyways, I just like to unwelcome you to the site and say I'll try not to scare you away like I did to those other newcomers who never seemed to post again after I welcomed them in and showed them where to get cookies. . . *sniff* no more cookies for the newcomers *sniff*. . . Very sad. . . *sigh* I'm sorry, I was having a moment there. Don't look at me like that, you wouldn't understand!

Alright, I think I'm better now. I just wanted to vouch for the jump pack and tell you that it is a godsend for anyone who uses Super Speed their first 38 levels (this was on a scrapper, but I'm sure the same pricniple applies for villain SSers). The jump pack alone is worth the ten dollars IMO. Don't get me wrong, the costume pieces are very nice and you will use your TP quite often, but I could make pie for my jump pack. And it would be good pie too. . .

And stay away from Candy Mountain!

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

hey, if you want any help from me or my SG mates the Anarchy of the Dark Abyss make a toon on protector. Villainous Vines is on protector also, so you might be able to get some help from her.

o and by the way did i mention that my Supergroup is number seven on protector?

OK, definitely getting the GvE Edition, that jump pack sure seems like it when be handy no matter what level you are, the Pocket D TP power looks cool as well as useful and the Exclusive Sinister Costume just looks plain bad ass. I hope I'm able to pick up a copy sometime soon.
