| UTComp 1.6 Beta Bug Report |
|
|
|
I haven't done much testing (it's quite late), but I've found one slight bug: In warmup you only only have the amount of grenades specified for the gametype (i.e. if the default settings are used, then you only have 4 and if you choose 1 grenade, you only have 1 in warmup contrary to the 999 for the rest of the weapons).
If I see anything else, I'll add to this. (hopefully others will add bugs here too)

2nd bug: Duel Mode for 1.6 Beta3 is no longer available via "Host Game" and "Instant Action". The respective .UCL seems to be incomplete (it lacks the Game=(ClassName=utcompv16beta3... line). It can (obviously) be manually edited and will work properly then.

The ucl thing is actually intentionnal, in order to minimize the number of entries people will get on their server browsers and host game menus if they have so many utcomp versions. (Currently, people who have 1.5beta1, 1.5 and 1.5a versions installed get three "Duel Mode" entries) It will be back for the final release.

The following bind no longer works for ONS:
getweapon Onslaught.ONSAVRiL
I believe all getweapon binds are not working. This is confirmed on beta3.

The grenade ammo and getweapon bugs are both related to the netcode enhancement. Turning that off serverside should fix those 2 bugs for now if you so desire.

I was playing last night and turned off the colored enemy names upon targeting, but it didn't seem to work. I was still seeing wingzero's fruity bright pink name flying at me all the time.

I had that happen to me as well, a couple times. After turning it off it would still be there. Also, I've been having a problem where I choose CPMA style hitsounds but the hitsounds remain normal.

Wanted to add (and I'm sure you know already) the ONS vehicles all behave very oddly ATM. Great work as always Lotus, we're all eagerly awaiting this one.

More of a question about possible conflicts:
will 1.6b3 peacefully coexist with 1.5a on the same box?
e.g. can i add them both as server packages in the ini and use webadmin to switch between them?
or will 1.6b3 (overwrite 1.5a files and?) break 1.5a?
thanks in advance -
-chu

Yeah both of them are fine. We've been switching back and forth too.

If you disable warmup voting, the voting option is not 'greyed out' and can still be voted, although it seems to have no affect when voting passes. This bug has been active in many recent versions of utcomp and was not realized with utcomp 1.6.

From our GriffinRun Admin:
"There is no way of having them both on the server since both use same int file called utcomp.
If you want 15a back on let me know but I will have to remove the beta one."
How does this jibe with what you are saying? Do utcomp 1.6b3 and utcomp 1.5a both write the same "type of info" to that file? do overwrites by one cause problems with the other?
thanks,
chhu

When I start a LMS server, it starts like DM...only have the shield gun and assault rifle. Also, the server doesn't show up in the browser. When I ; the serverpackages line everything is fine again. UT 3355 WinXP home.

yeah - tell that to the server admin who cooked our core.u file while i was on vacation.
so far i've got a) griffinrun saying it could cause problems and b) 1st hand experience with a 2k4-server bork.
so until you can tell me the conditions that allow for non-explosive c0-installation - don't tell me they work "perfectly fine together".

Considering we've been beta-testing it for weeks and interchanging back and forth with no problems, I would say there's no problems.

The .int file is only used for the keybindings (so you can bind f5 menu in the controls menu).
You can install them both on the same server just fine.
