Unlocked chests ( kilroy quest ) nerfed?

I did this quest like 10 minutes ago and flagged my team until they greyed out, then i opened the chest and i got only one purple, usually u would get 4-5 , something been changed maybe?

i cant see any info on wikis chest page and i usualy check the updates page anyway.

I've never known anymore than 1 item to frop from any reward chest, so I don't know how you were managing to get 4-5 from each chest...perhaps your memory serves you incorrectly? o.O

perhaps perhaps, the last time i did this would have been jnaury maybe , i can recall getting 10 purples over the 3 chests, just opened the first one now and got 2.

What i used to do is complete it first then go back for the chests, ill give thata go for the next 2 chests.

I did this about 2 months ago and each chest dropped about 3-5 items each for me after I flagged my heroes away. Perhaps over-farming has reduced the drop rate on the chests a little maybe?

I used to do a tonne of those runs. There were definately times when I only got one item out of a chest - it really was quite variable.

this time i got 5 purples in total, guess sometimes its just good luck and sometimes bad luck.

by the way has anybody ever got the special drop?

Nice Signature The Sister, though the (i believe) character selections don't work yet :P

As for the chests... only one drop per chest i believe, unless its some sort of ''multiple drops'' weekend.

Never seen it myself.

i had a drawfen axe drop for me, too bad the mod sucked, and it wasnt perfect T_T. I havent done that ina while thoe, is it possible in hardmode?

yea its posibil 2 do it in hard mode(i did it) and the drops are better...got a req13 14^50 storm bow purple(the best drop yet from thoes chests=p)

I dont think the drops are better in hard mode... I did it and still got some non-max items...

I've done this before and while it is possible that you just simply had bad luck I think it's because of the drop scaling which prevents someone from clearing way with henchmen/heroes than flagging them away for more/better drops from a boss that drops a green wep or something similar.. I'm not sure if it applies here but I think that's the cause of your lowered drops. I'll try a couple of times and post my findings later.

Well, the other day I went Kilroy chest farming and encountered the same thing XD. I continued the quest and still got one. I started to think it was nerfed too. However, the next time I did it, i got 4-5 purples a chest. I think it just varies because I've gotten one item before, just not from all the chests!

Loot scaling!

Flagging ur hench away is just like going out solo... chest drops like these are now scaled according to party size. I'm just glad you can still do it with Greens, as they aint scaled ;)

I agree i dont think it has been changed.

How did you get a storm-bow from there!
sure you dont mean FoW chest?

I dont think the drops are better in hard mode, because the chest type shoudn't change, but i might give it a try.

The special drop i was talking about is crystalline swords.

Im trying to work out a way to run through grenths to make it faster, maybe use shadow form.

You can use them unlocked chests about 5 times 1 every month. I used up all my chances on my warrior and my dervish i think. Except for the high ones in that vortex place.

I got a stormbow and a crystalline sword from there... not even max, but still =P

I don't think it is nerfed.. you were just unlucky I think. It's all random, sometimes you get 4 purples from one chest, sometimes only 1 or 2.

Flagging your henchmen no longer works except for gold, green, and other rare items. So for kilroy quest it's like keeping your entire party next to you as you open the chest even if they're on other side of map. I just did it a moment ago and made no difference.

It is loot scaling, but not entirely the reason you mentioned.

What happens is when you have a full party of 8, you get roughly 1/8th of the drops......if you flag henchies away, you are still in a team, and you are still getting 1/8th of the drops, which just happens to be the same amount you get solo. The drops didn't scale down as if he was solo, they stayed the same, but he only saw his 1/8th of the drops.

What happened is before if everyone was off the radar screen, you got 8/8 drops, now since its scaled so each person gets 1/8 drops, it doesn't matter if your in a full party, or solo, you get the same drops....full parties just make you kill faster.

EDIT: Of course, none of this accounts for the exempt items as you get the full 8/8 for those items when you solo(as opposed to getting 1/8 with a group, because it divides the golds between the 8 players).

For those who aren't familiar with this particular quest line. Kilroy Stoneskin and his fellow dwarves can be found in the Sorrow's Furnace area of the Southern Shiverpeaks in Tyria.

The Sorrows Furnace quests are repeatable. THe appeal to that particular quest is that it can be done with henchman flagging just prior to accepting the key-less chest reward. Common chest rewards are purple items (runes, maxed items). It's a good idea to bring a few Miner's Keys in case of chests as a few lucky players have managed crystalline swords from standard chests prior to the loot/modes update.

The appeal to this particular quest is that with practice, it can be done in 5-10 minutes and the loots can be interesting.

Ok i accept that common loot drops are always the same due to scaling, but when stuff comes out of a Chest does it count as a drop ?

i guess so because it can be shared.

So the answer is yes its been affected an no im not going insane.
And its probably gonna take me twice as long to get anything decent :).

Loot increases with party size , so with 8 men u get maximum loot.

When u flag ur party away u get alll the drops!

although what ur saying is after u get all the drops then thats reduced so u get 1/8 , but why would that happen?

I havent done that quest in nearly 8 months.. :P Thats when I only had Prophecies. But when I got NF, and Factions, I was like 'This is teh pwn-z0r!!!1one!' Because there honestly is probably much better farming in the other two games, than in prophecies.

healing from gondor i think ive seen that charcter in town somewhere.

This run took me 12 minutes, excluding getting from warcamp to sorrows furnace which took another 4 minutes.
