Today since i live right next to D.C. we have that thunderstorm above us now and we had a tiny power surge. I was on the computer, but it restarted and this black screen came up saying, "Keyboard Failure, Press F1 to continue or press F2 to go to Setup." I was like WTF? That is the stupidest thing my computer's ever done...

I would say buy a surge protector cus chances are it fried your keyboard or if you thinki lightning is gonna hit unplug things so they dont get an electrick surge. your lucky you didnt kill you motherboard and rest of your comp (asuming you didnt since it still works right?)

Surge Protector are nice. If there is a power surge, it actually automatically shuts off, so everything connected to it remains safe... of course, everything connected to it also turns off. But thats better than getting something valuable fried by a power surge. Everything I really care about is plugged into a surge protector. Another convienence is that the has more plugs than a regular extension cord! :P

i do have a surge protector, i have one for every computer in my house. That's probly why it didn't fry. Still I was sitting there wondering how I'm supposed to press F1 after keyboard failure...
quit gw for good. end of story.

But yeh,

is hilarious. Silly PC makers.

common, it's obvious the programers figured you would have an extra keyboard. I mean, i have 3 for every comp i own ;)
but in all seriousness, that's pretty funny (i think that might be an oxymoron).

Actually, do you have a wireless keyboard?
The computer says that because it has not detected a keyboard (or mouse) yet because the USB has not been activated.
If you connect a wired keyboard to the computer, it won't say that (99% sure)
You should get a surge protector for your computer or just turn it off before a thunderstorm.
