for those who dont want to read the whole thread
"Many people would like an option that would enable Auto Demo Recording but WITH an option to keep it at the end of each match"
could this be added into UTComp?

Sort of like WC3 then? Wonder if it's possible, but in my case I don't mind automatically recording everything.

It's something we've talked about in the past, and we would really like to do it, but it's not possible. It would require deleting the demo at the end of a game if a player doesn't "keep/save" it, which is not possible via a mutator: if you could delete files via a mutator, things would get REALLY ugly ;) The other option we thought of is to always record it under the same name (then it overwrites automatically), and then rename it to something else if players save it, but that isnt possible either.

whenever i record a demo, if i don't use stopdemo at the end, then the demo isn't saved whenever the server loads a new map or i leave the server. so couldn't you do something where it basically puts demorec with a new name, and then when it asks you to save the demo it either adds the stopdemo function into the console, or if you chosse not to save it, then it just leaves off the function and the game should automatically delete what you recorded.
i would love to see a demo recording function like with "save yes/no" so that i don't have to kill my hard drive with autodemo, and i don't miss sweet frags or forget to record a match.
