How about CoX with personalized theme music/battle cry\'s?

I was wondering what you all think about ATs both Heroes and Villains having their own personal theme music/ battle cry being heard as well as seen?

I know it's a bit old school but humor me, here is the gist...

Players allowed to pick the MP3 they want as a "Theme Song" for their heroes, roughly 5 seconds (or so) of sound (this can also be a personal battle cry.)

Then players can use an Emote like /em play_theme and play their Music/Words, there is a built in safety for this if you wish to hear them or not...

Other players can choose to allow Player theme songs to be heard or not, just as you can choose to see "Chat Baloons" or not in your general settings. Maybe even set the number of times it can be played before you have to wait a while, this would help stem the "sound flooding" that would of course predictably occure.

And to prevent overlapping sound files ruining your experience you can choose how many sound files you wish to be able to hear at one time.

Now every player could have a theme song or if they wanted a personal Battle Cry they could broadcast to those who wish to hear them.

That would be awesome! I could just imagine taking little mottoes from songs like "You Get What You Give" or other positive/motivational stuff, or a 5 second hardcore death metal snippet if that's what you/your character is into.

I think you have a truly novel idea there, plus the checks and balances have already been addressed, so I think it's good to go! I say post it on the CoH forums if you haven't already, see what the other players think of it before sending the idea to the devs.

I like the idea...nice concept, safety measures in place for the habitual users...I'd say bring it up and see what falls.

Picture it, Sicily, 1963 (Golden Girls flashback)...You enter the building, put on your shields, buffs, etc... Then you hear...

\"I got so much trouble on my mind...Refuse to Lose...Here's your ticket, Hear the Drummer get wicked..\" Then all hell breaks loose...Then the battle ends, and you hear \"Now Welcome to the Terrordome!\"

I can totally get into this idea. It also works for the Villains in us as well.

Not sure how, but it needs to happen. Player customization has to be something that the devs spent a lot more time thinking about if they want to maintain the player base when MUO comes out. There has been talk in the official forums about mods, and I suppose creating personal sound files that could be played in-game would fall under that category. I personally don't find much good in mods, unless the game is designed specifically for people to come tinker (open-source code).

I would take this idea one step further and add in some kind of mild-mannered alter ego - to - super hero switch whenever the need arises (accepting missions, for example). You could chose to roam the city zones in regular outfits, without aggroing any nearby villains, but of course you wouldn't be able to your powers (maybe travel powers....that would seem to fit) until you hit the button to cue the theme music, presto-chango big explosion or whirlwind spin and BAM!.... Teh Ub3r Dud3 is ready for action!

I've been thinking about this stuff since I started playing this game over a year ago...and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it would kick all kinds of butt. The only thing that would top it is if they found a way to incorporate personal vehicles into travel (like the X-Men's plane)....that would rock even more.

That would be a phenomenal add-on for the game....hmmm...what would I choose?

Greatest American Hero theme? Just imagine Blackhawk lands at the feet of some Rikti and then the music hits.....

Man even though I dont play CoH/V anymore I am getting excited because I would love a feature as such. In LOTRO you can make and mimic your favorite music. But to have your own playable theme as such would be awesome. Great idea!

or, in villains, you could have the Barracuda song play as you summoned your School of Sharks lol

i would want something like a big symphony lead-up, then a big cymbal crash as i used my nova or whatever, that would be pretty cool.

also, COLOR CUSTOMIZATION! I WANT PURPLE FORCEFIELDS! I WANT GREEN ENERGY BLASTS! I WANT BLUE FIRE!! come on, devs! people want that a lot more than they wanted a stupid rikti monkey to follow them around after three years!
