Ice/Em build

Been working on building up my new tanker, was wondering if any one had any thoughts on my planned build.

Not really sure which epic to take or if I should pick up a few pool powers, like hasten, and teleport foe.

RE: Ice/Em build

First off, not bad, fly is a bit odd but hey whatever.

What are you wanting to do with your guy?
Herding,powerleveling,pvp?

and yes take hasten!

RE: Ice/Em build

How about Earth Mastery for the Epic Power? So your tank would be like a meteor. Think about it he's protected by ice, has energy attacks and flys. So, why not get Earth Mastery to complete the set?

RE: Ice/Em build

If you want to get some destructive ranged attacks, take Pyre Mastery. It's also the ancillary power pool I recommend.

Take away those two slots from Health (they don't matter that much), and put them in Fly. You don't want a single slotted Fly, way too slow.

RE: Ice/Em build

I would leave the slots in health where they are, or at least put them there once later. I always miss the extra regen when playing new tanks. Also you really do need to slot Hoarfrost more. Most people six slot it with three heal and three recharge, but you can get away with 2 recharge I reckon. I'd say energy absorbtion could do with further slotting too. I think you could take one end redux out of each toggle to help with slotting elsewhere, once you have stamina and energy absorbtion you don't really need them.

RE: Ice/Em build

I never noticed this thread before, but since it's been given a breath of life...

criticing the build above, some of the slotting could be better and medicine is not really needed on an icer because of hibernate being the awesome power that it is.

If you want specifics let me know.

RE: Ice/Em build

Right now I have a lvl 41 ice/em tanker so I can offer some experienced advice. First I would recommend you take out those extra end red slots in your armors. With 3 slotted stamina and your EA you can put those slots to better use. Second. Hasten isn't neccessarily a must. I don't use hasten and really don't see the urgent need for it. EA recharges fast enough to stack on it's own, and with the numerous attacks EM offers, you won't find yourself needing it that badly. I suppose if you wanted to do some pvp then it would help, especially in sirens, but again, it's not neccessary. You do have the right idea with chilling embrace. I have mine slotted 1 end red, 2 slow, and 1 taunt and believe me, you HOLD aggro. That's probably my favorite power.

Definately need more in your EA and Hoarfrost. I have my hoarfrost slotted 4x, 2 recharge, 2 heal. You can go 3:1 if you like, but you need that skill coming up as much as possible b/c you don't have any dmg resistance. More hp you have = the more hits you can take. Remeber with high defence, you will eventually get hit and those hits will do regular dmg as if you were a squishy. With my EA I have 2 recharge, 1 end modification and 1 defence. I will slot it eventually 3 recharge, 2 end mod, and 1 defence. The thing about EA is (I think)the more end mod you have on it, the more end your opponents are drained for which is really helpfull.

And lastly, for hibernate, you need to put a heal in it. DoT is your worst enemy when it comes to using Hibernate. It's happened to me plently of times where I was down to 10% hp, with stacked DoT on me and I would myself dead while using Hibernate. The heal enchant helps counter DoT that may be on you when you activate it. Also remember it takes about 3-4 seconds for hibernate to give +invuln. so don't wait until the last second to activate it.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

RE: Ice/Em build

Just curious as to the opinions on Stun from the EM set. I used to avoid this like the plague skipping it everytime, and I can't really remember what over all made me decide to rethink that and take it but it is a nice addition in PvP.

took it on a respec and headed over to WB with my tank to try it out and got a tell from a brute asking what power i had that kept stunning him through his Mez protection?

Is this strictly just a PvP power or am I just lucky?

anywho back on topic: if you enjoy flight better than that is your thing but i reccomend Combat Jumping and SJ cause Combat jumping adds to the defense.

hasten is not necessarily needed my EA stacks and i don't have it, think it has more to do with slotting. as far as atks go there is a nifty little Defense IO called Luck of the Gambler Def/Increased recharge. that ups the recharge of all your powers by 7.5% doesn't seem like much but i deffinitely notice a huge difference. It will cost you a pretty penny though. I luck sacked into mine but still had to put out a few mill for the salvage but well worth it.

I am going with Big on the medicine thing and i also agree with what Shadow says about Hibernate.

I found total Focus too long of an animation and too "Matrix-y" for me evertime i activated it I had the sudden urge to wildly rotate my camera angles. I probably will pick it back up later but i took Stun instead for now just to try it out cause it is one of those powers that everyone skips.

I would add to come to me if you need more help, however the other two amper's already extended that hand and probably for the better cause i never check my PM's anyway. :-)

good luck with your tank and have fun i know i do with mine

RE: Ice/Em build

Even though Total Focus has that long animation, once it is slotted it is unbelievable. I think it has a mag-6 or 8 stun, which means it will stun bosses almost every time you use it. BuildUp + BoneCrusher + EnergyTransfer + TotalFocus = a whole lot of hurting on anything. I think you can get all three in the duration of buildup. This will take down orange LTs and below.
