GW v WoW: The Big Question??????

This is soooo much stress! I mean Guild Wars V World of Warcraft, I just cant see the big deal! Some fo my m8s play GW and some play WoW! now i primarliy played Guild Wars, but then i'd get a load of jip from my WoW buddies saying stuff like "Oh come and get WoW! its sooo much more fun! oh come on come on!..."

I mean is that much of a big deal? and now i've ordered WoW im getting jip from some GW m8s. Now im not an experienced gamer, im 12 and i've got just over 2 years under my crudely made belt, but I think I know a Game Fued when I see one! Please you guys are experienced, why is there such a big deal over the two games?

I went ABing today and the graphics on GW are as superb as ever, butwhat I want to know is? are the raids on Warcraft as good as ABin? the whole process is soo confusing! Now its soo fun, us kurzicks beating the luxons all the time *rofl* :D, but are raids as simple and fun?

You guys tell me! Spread the word of my newly formed blog, tell your friends, your grandparents, your newly appointed headteacher, I DO NOT CARE! I JUST WANT TO GET IT CLEAR! now pls no arguing, i wanna keep my topic clean :D! ill b posting more soon!

RE: The Rofl

The difference between WoW and GW's is massive, and typing it all is too much for me.

However, i can tell you a few things you asked:

Alliance battles & Raids;

Raids are 40 man groups, where all are on the same side fighting against high level monsters for loot.

Alliance battles are 12 vs 12 with a ''capture and hold'' strategy, the group that owns more flags gets more points in simple words that is.

Guild Wars as you know, has no Monthly fees, you only have to pay when you buy a new campaign, which you DONT have to do unless you want more skills, new adventures and quests ETC.

WoW, has monthly fees, which is usually the main reason most GW's players play Guild Wars instead of WoW, others go for the better graphics, simplicity in skill use instead of 300 on your bar, and others for their own reasons.

WoW and GW's shouldn't be compared, its like comparing Half Life with Unreal Tournament, they are the same Genre, but not the same game, As an RPG you share the similarities like '''max'' armor, Levels, types of skills and attributes, and there you stop, thats the basics that define a roleplaying game, but thats also the only thing WoW and GW's share in my opinion.

You have 2 friends groups, sounds like one is WoW fanatics and the other GW's Geeks, you have to choose your own path friend, not let them make the decisision for you, its just a game ok? If you like one more then the other, so be it, if you let your life be controlled by what they think is cool for you, i advice breaking ties with them.

Good Luck ;)

RE: The Rofl

WoW is really fun, just like GW's, but they are two MMO's that go in opposite directions. WoW is more PvE based, where as GW is more PvP based. Pretty much, Raids on cities in WoW are amazing fun. One of my friends let me play his lvl 70 and join in a raid. It was his tactic to get me to buy WoW. But, unlike GW's where you can be AB'ing in a few hours, on WoW you'll spend about 4-5 months getting a lvl 70 to do Raids with. Then you have to get people to raid with, which from what I hear isn't always easy, and can take a couple of hours to get people together.

If your like me, and you like PvP more that PvE, than you probablly won't like WoW as much as GW. It just takes too much time to get to the good PvP in WoW.

Plus, I don't think any game is worth $100+ a year to play.

ps. I'm not dissing WoW in anyway here. Like I said, I think WoW is fun to play.

Reason why i really dislike WoW, its just too long... i mean, i'd like to try out different professions, but when each takes a very long time to level its... not fun anymore :S (my opinion ofcourse)

P.S, see if you can post the same thing on the WoW AMP side? :P

It's very wrong to say that WoW is very pve based, because depending on you server, you can be in the middle of a PvP battlefield in a PvP area.

Contested areas, ones of which are shared by Alliance and horde, can be used as a battlefront for PvP. The sheer thrill of not knowing if there is a rogue sneaking up on you, or a warrior just waiting to charge is something that is worth the payment.

they are so damn right!
i play the game aswell, not anymore cause of exams ><, but i realy love it, u get addicted to it once reach a nice lvl
im lvl 48 now, itut took me 1 month, or 6days play time

loads of people don't like WoW cause u need to pay for it, cause its kinda cartoony. Once u hit lvl 70? the real game begins...heroic dungeons, dark portal (if im right ^^), uber raids, and pownage in battlegrounds

rly..GW and WoW are both perfects games,ut one thing i do actually hate at GW is that Anet nerfs most stuff...y, loats of people say, omg, farming ain't nerfed...TRUE, it ain't, but it became boring/harder now, SV/AV screwed, 55HP farming same.

I just mean in general. WoW is generally considered more PvE based. I'm not saying that it doesn't have PvP.

RE: The Rofl

It all goes back to rivals. Everyone has to find their rival. I remember when I played FFXI, it was always FFXI vs Lineage II. When I played Lineage II, it was always Lineage II vs. WoW. When I played WoW, it was WoW vs. anything that wasn't WoW. When I played City of Heroes (and Villains), it was always CoH vs Star Wars Galaixies. When I played Galaxies it was always Galaxies vs. anything that wasn't Galaxies.

Then my ex girlfriend introduced me to Guild Wars, and I fell in love with it... but the argument I always here is Guild Wars vs. Runescape... which is ridiculous becasue RuneScape is a piece of crap compared to any MMO mentioned here. But recently I have been hearing the GW vs WoW debated in Guild Wars. The best reply I ever see is "Then go play WoW."

The funny thing is that WoW's main argument in these debates is "We have over 7 million subscribers," becasue thats what the box says now. That just makes me laugh hesterically, everytime. First of all, how many people play becasue so many millions of others do? And second, thats no where even close to Lineage II.

Lineage II has over 14 million subscribers... but I'll bet most of you who haven't looked in you little ads booklets that came with Guild Wars have even heard of it. I heard about it while playing FFXI, and bought because of a search I did and visiting their main site.

To this day, I say that Lineage II is the best MMO out there... and if I had the money to continue paying the monthly fee, I would be playing that instead of Guild Wars... but comparing any game to another in such a hostile manner as people seem to do just makes me feel that I'm back in High School and someone has just mentioned they go to Northridge (my school's rival).

IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER, and you don't really care, but you say stuff anyway, becasue there is that human need for a rival.

What I'm saying is (I know it took a long ranble to find a point at the end) that there is no real reason for the debate... rather the whole reason for the debate is the debate itself.

Make sense?

RE: The Rofl

Many play gw because of the no fee thing but it comes down to mainly is personal preference.

There are some things that I like about WoW but will not play because of the monthly fee or other things I do not like about WoW. There are things I do not like about GW but I still play because I like it.

Personal Preference over Fees.

RE: The Rofl

One thing that I didn't love about WoW is how committed you had to be to get any good rewards. Raiding for instance is not for the casual player, especially when there are 39 other people who will yell and complain if something goes wrong. That was one of the reasons I stopped playing WoW, because it was bad enough getting to level cap, then having to coordinate with a large number of people in order for you to have a slim chance of getting some good loot.

Guild Wars on the other hand is for the casual player in my opinion. I can log on for about 30 minutes or so a day, actually make some progress, and eventually make it to endgame and getting good items and such. This is why I still play Guild Wars as opposed to WoW, because there is usually a preference between players based on their availability, money situation, etc.

RE: The Rofl

Welcome!

GW vs WoW arguments have been goin on for ages. Personally I think that WoW is not as good as GW due to subion and graphics but just my opinion.

Variety is the spices of life, play both if you fell like it.

frankly they both got a section on GameAmp so why not play which u like best and stuff what ppl say to u about how you shouldn't be playing one or the other
