OK...here is my question. Every last one of us was a noob once, right? I mean, unless you were born with a Guild Wars disc hanging out of your rear end you had to load the game and mess up a LOT before you got it down. So why is there such animosity towards "noobs"? Those same noobs will make mistakes and learn the game, (just like we ALL did) and one day be some of the best players (just like SOME of us are). The funny thing is that the majority of 'noob haters' are pretenders who sat down with someone else's walkthrough or game guide and now think that they are Guild Wars Masters when they really just borrowed from someone else's experience! We ALL had to learn so why not cut the new folks a break?
Am I wrong about this?

Uhm, not all of us have/will be noobs, theres one thing ALL guild wars players have in common, we were once newbs.
Newb - A new player to the game, not too much knowledge.
Noob - A player whos been around for a while, but acts exactly like a newb.

The reason why there is so animosity toward 'Noobs' or Newbies is because there are people who don't try to learn how to play the game, they don't try to do a quest on their own, they don't try to earn their gold, so they sit and beg for items and gold and choke up the chat window full of spam.
Yes, we were all once new to the concept of MMORPGs, and we were all once new to the concept of working with a computer.
But there are two types of 'Noobs' in my mind: Those who try, and those who don't.
The ones who try, are the ones who usually have to pay the price for those who never bothered.

newbs are fine, as they are trying to learn the game; noobs are just stupid

Aww I was about to post that. But yes there is a difference between "noob" and "newb."

There is a big difference between newb and a noob, but way too many people assume every newb is a noob and treat them accordingly. A newb doesn't even know what a noob is, since he is a newb. A noob does know, but thinks everybody besides himself is one. If a geniune newb gets the noob treatment than that is the quickest way to make him one. It is kind of a vicious circle you can only break with a bit of patience and friendliness.

no one post any more that summed everything up into one comic lol. There's the perfect answer.
Studies show that 92% of teens listen to rap. If you are part of the 8% that listens to real music the add this to your signature.

Awesome responses!
Now I understand the difference. Seriously, your opinions cleared up a lot for me. Newbs are totally cool as long as they're willing to learn. Noobs are a waste of bandwidth. I guess I am definitely a "Noob hater" then. Thanks again!

Appreciate the input folks. I guess I will always be a newb of sorts because I am really enjoying learning all the details of this excellent series.

yeah, it's not really about how we once were newbs, it's more of about how we're not anymore. Kind of like how freshmen try to complain to upperclassmen thata they were once freshies too.
I reject your reality and subsitute my own.
