Skara Brae dinged guild level 24 this past weekend! We're one step closer to being able to purchase our own crafting stations using our status points! *goes back go daydreaming about crafting in the backyard*

I really appreciate everyone working so hard on Heritage Quests, writs, and turning in relics to make this possible. Boy and we are already off to a good start towards level 25. In addition to top quality home crafting gear this level will give us access to faster mounts, and some great status items. As a Paladin in service to the Diety Marr I know of one painting in particular that I will adorn my room with soon after level.

Gratz! I am not sure that it means exactly, but I do know you guys have worked long and hard for it. And that makes it extra sweet.

The guild system in EQ2 is really neat. The guild can gain levels, like a player. Only the guild gains its levels from the members doing quests called City Tasks (or writs), or by doing Heritage Quests (which are usually harder, longer quests), or by handing in Relics to NPCs of different factions.
As members do these types of things the guild (and the player) gain Status points. As the guild levels up, more special items become available to the guild members that can be purchased with the status points, like the horses, houses, and crafting stations mentioned above. The player can also use their personal status points to buy items like special pieces of furniture for their homes or paintings, some types of armor or clothing (not useful for adventuring, but for show), or even titles.
I'm sure I'm missing something. :-) But that's the general idea. It's one of the things I really like about EQ2, guilds have real meaning and a need to work together for a common goal. (Kind of like in Shadowbane where the guild had a common purpose of working together to build and protect their city.)

The whole Guild Level feature is a very compelling part of Guild Life in EQ2. It makes it very easy for members to have an unspoken way of contributing to the common good and makes goal setting and quest planning much easier. When guilds achieve certain Guild Levels (based on increments of 10) a broadcast message is sent to the entire server letting everyone know that that guild has reached a certain level. The message might read something like this "the Daring Guild Barbarian Knights of Norath has achieved Level 10" and the message changes based on the Guild Level achieved. Also on every guild level completions guild members hear a dramatic sound effect played in game along with a somewhat dramatic in game text display to let them know the guild has leveled.

It was pretty nifty to be there when it happened since it was my first time. I've officially been playing for 2 months. It's weird though.. the same thing that makes the guild system so cool, makes me sometimes feel that I don't contribute enough. I think it makes me want to work harder at things, and to get better at things.
I've learned a lot in the last 2 months, and I still like it. :)

Yes, indeed.. I have been sucked in... I shall find a way to get revenge on the parties most responsible for this at some point... but for now.. I'm just having fun.
But.. revenge.. revenge shall be mine... BWAHAHAHAHAHA
