GW2. good or bad?

idk abouit all of u but it makes me upset that we cant transfer players and items n such to gw2 from gw. i know its a hundread years further but maybe find a way to go througgh time or sumtin. or maybe have a rencarnation of a your person with all of ur skills and level. i think thats a great idea. ima apply to work on the game now...jmjmjm....but sereouisly they need to put those in the game and leave the skill based studff alone its perfect how it is. KEEP IT OLD SCHOOL! itll make it way 2 easy for all of us older people. i say spam the makers with emails about the game lol. wat do u think about it?

Don't spam them with e-mails...

Guild Wars 2 is great, and I won't mind leaving all my characters behind. When GW2 will be released (2009) I'd probable seen enough of GW1, so a change will be welcome. Leave it the way it is, and if you don't want GW2, then keep on playing GW1 after it's release :)

I think as it is practically a New Game just with Similarities from gw1 then it should have all new content..meaning new Charecters, Everyone should start off the same imo with low level nd not "cheat" in a way with transfering Charecters..

It'l be interesting tho im sure

In a way we can. When we transefer our achievements we are transefering the thing that makes our characters who they are. Also we get a nice statue of them in the next game I believe.

Stop right now. I hate to sound overly critical but this is a very silly idea. It's a new game. It's like using Cloud in Final Fantasy 8. It's just wrong. I'm looking forward to redeveloping in my beloved characters into whole game, my pretty little monk with an attitude problem wants to learn some new skills. Travelling through time is rediculous. Why do you want to cling onto your characters so much, if you can't let them go just keep playing the origional series of games?

whining about wanting complete char transfers is just stupid, why play a game if your alrdy 70% finished it when u first start off and secondly have you ever played any console rpg series? they never allow you to do any garbage char transfer stuff because it would RUIN THE GAME.

I cant figure out why they feel they need to make a "NEW GAME" to begin with. If its not broke, DONT FIX IT. Why the jump in time? And as for the time frame...big woopie! Its a game, not real life, let us take our charicters. Even with the time jump we could all just have an exceptionally long life span....after all, we exersize, eat right and take our vitamins daily. So in GW2, were supose to be able to swim and jump, well, put it in an expantion, so we cant take jump back to prophesies, oh well, its not like we need it there anyway. Personallly, I just think it stinks that I have put in over 2 years into my existing charicters, and now im expected to just walk away from them.....not gonna happen. I know there are a lot of other things that GW2 is going to have other then jump and swim, many of which are good, some not so good, that we dont have now, but there are a lot of things that I have read about GW2 that im not the least bit happy with, 100+ level cap? Also, I prefer my own playing field, not one where there are possably 100s of other players out there with you. Or has that changed, or did i get poor information on that topic? Either way, I prefer my own field. Now Im not saying I wont give GW2 a shot, because I more then likly will, and will like it for itself, but that doesnt mean I have to be happy about what the makers are doing.

first off this was said b4, if you feel that strongly about chars that literaly are NOTHING then keep playing gw1 its that simply. secondly anet isnt going to care if 2 or 3 people of 20 dislike what there doing, they decided to do this for the majority of people playing mmo's now which is why its modeled after wow. the main problem i myself have had with GW is theres not enuf 2do in pve and the pvp is a nuisance at times 2 actually enjoy. most people playing GW play it for the pve mainly which is why anet is raising the lv cap to give people something 2do for a longer period of time.

also as my sig indicates i myself play both wow and gw and i like both games. the only reason i play wow though is due to the fact theres more 2do and pvp is much more accessable and no bullshit about people wanting rank20 HA blah blah blah.

if its a few hundred years on, skills would more than likly cchange,weapons and armour would be outdated and weaker and would be awkward to bring in,also your character could farm there a** off (added the * myself:)) and get a load of exp,convert that into GW2 and they have an unfair advantage over everyone else.

also im looking forward to seeign whas instore.
they have done it for a reason.

I agree with most of people in here, bringing our characters to GW2 is not a good idea at all, since it's a new game after all. Like someone said, it would be like bringing Cloud from FF7 to FF8, that's just not right, lol.

Plus, we'll have a hall of fame or something like that, showing all our achievements over GW :)

Here what I think of GW->GW2 transition...

My characters are making history right now in the current game. I'll buy GWEN because I want to record my achievements for my characters in GW2.

Now fast foward to GW2, the characters I make there will be descendants of my current GW characters. They'll have some ties to my original characters achievements but thats all...

These topics on gw2 need to stop its gonna be atleast 1 year and 10 months before its out and probally longer.Im glad they wont transfer charecters. I also think it will be great to be a "Noob" again ^_^

If we could transfer characters it would be boring in my opinion
Besides GW2 is going to have a completely different leveling system from what I've heard, the games set ages after GW1
EVERYTHINGS going to be changed
And yes...LETS PUT OUR OLD CRAPPY CHARACTERS IN!
OR we could start off and make awesome and NEW characters and have fun adventuring in a completely NEW world

oooh. yet another GW 2 topic.. and its still 2 years away.

First off, i ca nunderstand your point of view (original post), GW takes a lot of time to really earn some rewarding things. And it would be a shame to lose out on those things.

But,
In GW 2 it has already been confirmed that character names can be carried over, achievements can be carried over, so the only thing that might be difficult is what your character looks like, and assuming you pick similar face, hair and height options they will look the same anyway.

So really, you're not losing anything. And it would be unfair to start at a higher level than everyone else. I personally am looking forward to that new game feeling of love that i got from GW with the sequel, and dont want to be at a silly advantage. We will already have an advantage from the unlockable items and things that our achievements from GW will earn us.

It has already been established and mentioned many times that this isn't possible. The game engine isnt built to handle these things and would require some quite ridiculous alterations to the hardcoding.

Ok im done. I too long for GW 2, but remember it is a new game, not an expansion to the original, just because the storylines may link somewhat or the world is based on it. I'm sure when it comes out we'll all be ossessively playing too much to complain anyway. :)

okokokok i get xD the main reason y i want my guy to come over is cause i like the way he looks but i will agree itll be a better challange to do it all over again...but i sill say transfer items lol owell ill be happy wit it no matter wat cause i wanna be a char lol.....and people complainin about post about gw2 already...get over it its nice to hear peoples opinions about the game and neways id think that ud knew this already but producers of the game look at a bunch of forms on the internet and c good ideas and they use them...well neways have a good day

All in all not everyone is going to be happy how ever they do it. Thats just a fact of life. For those that say no other game lets you transfer from one to another forgot about some games, example Baulders Gate and Baulders Gate 2 you could transfer your characters. It makes no difference to me as long as its still free to play and its a good game. Thats the main things. I made a new character for each campaign and beat each one before I brought my other characters over to beat it with them. So I don't mind the idea either way as I'll make a new character anyway.

GWEN is ANet doing smart business: by creating a new format w/ decent ties to the old, they double their player base. People who didn't buy the first 3 chps of GW due to play deficiencies will have more confidence in the game & be more likely to buy it, and orginal GW fams will buy in order to stay updated.

Personally, I will be happy to have GWEN for the peace & quiet it will bring to the old chps. Plus, by the time I've finished all my chars & am ready to have them immortalized in GWEN, ANet will probably have created a new chp and GWEN will have settled down nicely, too. :-)

character transfer realy stupid.

1st our chars now are lvl 20 in gw 2 lvl will be 60-80 or higher
2d our chars now are only humans in gw 2 will be 4 more races if we all take our old chars other races will be ignored
3d its stupid to play with same char.
4th it will have climbing on the trees in gw 2

They are making a new game not making some add on to GW1. It is possible for them to add swimming and jumping. It was even mentioned in the magazines we would be able to.

The new game will more likly have a new type of game format like how the weapons stats will be listed and programed.
The weapon mods here wont act the same in the next game making item transfer impossible.
Skills here will be out dated in the next game or wont even exsist anymore.
So IF you do transfer your characters they will have nothing and be nude. Now is that something you want or a character that starts out with at least something?
I'll stick with the character that will have at least something.
