Earth/Trick Arrow Build

The earth/trick arrow controller in my opinion so far is one of the most diverse and effective controllers that I have used so far.
Let me say right now that I think of this as a true controllers build. Holding, immobilizing, slowing, and de buffing are its primary talents with damage a long way down the list. You can and I have soloed with this build but do not plan on setting any records in finishing missions.
I have found that earth set has some of the largest area of effect in the game. This can be a blessing and a curse because you need to take care of where you use some of the powers. I say this from experience because careless use of aoe powers may and will make you an agro magnet from one or more groups. The trick arrow set has very few powers that will cause any damage but is a complement to the earth set by diversifying the types of attacks available to you. This is very helpful when encountering enemies that are highly resistant to one type of attack but is vulnerable to others. I have gone so far as to being able to lock down arch villains and elite bosses. Trust me when I say that is no easy feat.
This following build is set up with supporting a team in mind. This build has evolved several times on my way to level 36 to reflect the way I play.

From the earth set
Fossilize (very good staring power for holding)
Stone Cage (good for immobilizing a group)
Stalagmites (love this aoe power great disorient and good damage)
Volcanic Gasses (another favorite aoe power great hold and minor fire damage)
Animate Stone (your pet doe’s good damage. A means to control it would be nice though)

From the trick arrow set
Entangling Arrow (it has its uses)
Glue Arrow (good aoe slow and affects enemies recharge time)
Ice Arrow (good hold power)
Acid Arrow (minor damage but is useful)
Oil Slick Arrow (good power)
Note: A favorite of mine is to use volcanic gasses then Oil slick and you get a choking field of fire that does moderate damage.

From the Fitness Pool
Swift
Health (3 slot it)
Stamina (Get as soon a possible and 2 to 3 slot it. You won’t regret it)

From the Leadership Pool
Assault (A couple extra points of damage never hurts)
Tactics (Get this and six slot ASAP. I use 2 endurance and 4 to hit buffs.)
Note: To me Tactics is an absolute must because your life depends on your powers shutting down the enemy. I have never regretted 6 slotting it.

From the Leaping pool
Combat jump
Super jump (2 to 3 slot it)

From the Presence Pool
Challenge
Intimidate (will multi slot this)

This gets me to level 36 and I was already into my 30’s before issue 9 came out. So I feel this to be a solid build not biased buy the use of invention enhancements. Inventions will only further enhance the effectiveness of this build.

Note: I know that you may not agree with choosing from the Presence pool but I feel that by branching out in this direction it will enhance by character by offering alternate means of attack. I have so far found fear to be useful as there are few that have resistance to it.

Let me know if you find this useful. Any comments for or against this is always welcome.

Earth/TA is, imo, the most "controlling" controller

I don't like to team with Earth Troller.
The animations of the powers are awfull.
You can't see ANYTHING with a earth troller fighting with you.
Can't recognize anchors...can't pick specific foes...etc.

I'm listening to real music.
Real Rock, real Gothic, real Rap, real Soul, real Funk...etc

Not being able to see the anchors is a good thing. It always seem they are the first thing the tanks a and scrappers attack even when told not to. But yes the stone cage on larger enemies can sometimes cause vision trouble but I don't have trouble targeting enemies.
You need to admit that when used properly the earth set is one of the most effective sets out there.

I have not seen many... Although I had one for a while. She was a major END hog though. She was at 20, and I just couldn't play her. She couldn't solo, because she would go up against 3 same level villains and be out of END before the fight was finished.

I mainly could find teams and deleted her cause I ended up not enjoying the build. I will say she had awesome hold powers though. She could lock them down nicely. She just needed someone else to do the damage.

No need to admit anything.
I avoid teaming with stone-trollers as much as possible.
They are just pain in the a**.

Earth trollers arent bad in the least, throw quicksand down if the tankers go down and you got urself a quick escape. The animations are a little rough (especially when fighting larger enemies, but in the end, would you rather go w/o a troller or have one and breeze threw mishes better?

As they have said before, the most controlling of all trollers. Holds, Immobiles, sleep, stun, etc. u got the most mezing and holding effects between the two powersets. definatly not for a straightforward attacker

Studies show that 92% of teens listen to rap.
