Just wanted to say that imho 'amp is better than guru.
Why? Because every time I go there I'm annoyed by the rude and vindictive responses some give to others' posts. You don't see it anywhere near as much here and if it starts it get stomped on pretty darn quick!
:D
P.S: I'd like to check back on this post but I probably won't bother because the new post/profile/thinggywotsit isn't working (though I'll have a quick check now in case it's back!)
^..^
EDIT: Nope, still not working :(

Well me personally I come here for mainly the forum but other information I usually get it from Wiki as it has more than Guru and plus the people here are nicer than Guru's forums.
I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.

i have found that amp is sooooo much better than guru on the community side of things. everyone here is great and new players are given breathing room to learn the game without getting yelled at whenever they ask a question. now on the more technical side of things (auctions, price guides, ect...) guru is better because they have a bigger community that contributes and updates their price guides constantly. if you want to create an auction, guru is one of the best places other than then the fake bids and such.
i only ever visit guru to find out prices, some builds and to get price checks. for any constructive threads, i post here and only here.

Same as the quick one.
I could never become an active guru poster simply due to horrendous load time on my end. Plus the general consensus that I have recieved from people that do go on guru regularly is that the people there are often quick to speak(or in this case type) and slow to think. While I enjoy a good argument as much as the next person I could not deal with arguments in nearly every thing I post in. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

no contest, AMP wins hands down. Community, guides and forums amp wins em all. I hate guru cus of its confusing forums names, poor community and its constant breaking. I only use it for auctions now and it still annoys me cus it breaks so much!
how guru became an elite fansite I'll never understand...especially when AMP is not.

Amp - Community and guides....guru might have more guides, but the ones on amp are usually easier to follow.
Guru - Auctions.....buying/selling
Wiki - Other GW info.

Only use Guru to Price Check thats it, To check on what drops where is Wiki, for a nice forum Conversation and Community Side is Amp. Guru loads nicely on my end but its just the incompetent asses that inhabit Guru is the main reason i wont sign up

The only reason Guru can be trying at times is that it is one of the larger forums which means it attracts all the bad elements. But having a larger member base has its benefits too.
I think the main thing Guru has going is the art section. It unquestioningly has the best artists, especially compared to GWO (not to point fingers :P). I've had a couple commissions done myself and I loves them all.

Yeah, AMP has some great artists too, but they dont have an art section, so the artists dont have room to show their works....other than a post in the off topic forum or a submission to the fan art gallery, which isnt as good as a forum, because their works will be spread out over many pages, instead of all of the one persons work being in a single topic of their own.

Here's one I had done by a professional graphic artist from Germany for only 45k (the version she gave me is extremely hi-res)
Even after several months, she hasn't taken any other commissions so that makes me feel exclusive and special ^_^
This is another nice one, he actually did it just for tips!

Guru loads way too slow here. And the forums are a bit weird to follow and stuff is not very organized. Loading definitely keeps my away from guru. I use it for PC's on my high end stuff and to sell that stuff. I like these forums because the people here are nice, experienced and welcoming. I didn't get a formal welcome when i first joined but i could care less since i soon started posting and i love to show my opinion when people dont flame me for having an opinion. Guru=Dark Side.
quit gw for good. end of story.

I prefer AMP, really because of the community. The biggest reason I dislike Guru is the loading time, It takes my computer more time to load the Guru homepage then it takes me to come and check the recent posts on AMP.
Also
- Guru has a larger and usually less friendly community
- Forums disorganized compared to AMP
- Guru doesnt have anything close to the Guides section on AMP.

Loads fine here, BUT in my native browser, Opera, Guru doesnt load right, the auctions for example, it shows maybe the first 5-10 on each page, then cuts off everything below that, so even though its good for the options, I have to fire up IE to use the auctions.

maybe my connection is slowwww. The auctions are even slower on my computer and a lot of the time they dont load and its a blank white screen. It used to load fast for me but idk what happened.

The reason Guru loads slow sometimes again goes back to the large user base. Just popped over there and there's about 2.3k users on right now. And during peak hours, it's a nightmare. They tried to put up some more ads to pay for more bandwidth, but it didn't make that much of a difference.

Guru is waaaaaaaay too slow and filled with errors.
They don't have an anti-flame policy either, flaming is like saying Hello there.
I still go there to sell once in a blue moon though :)
EDIT: Post this on AMP and people will say AMP is better.
Post this on Guru people will say Guru is better.

''Guild Wars Guru'', the very name strikes fear into the hearts of men.
And for good reason, if you could ever imagine a site, so slow loading, and people with an attitude you could shoot a nuke at, then you just ended up waiting 10 minutes for Guru to load and see for yourself.
AMP all the way, friendly people, no (or not much) flaming, though some discussions can get a lil' rough edged.
Fast loads, lots of Active admins taking care of whatever junk the next Gold Seller posts.
Good Community, well known, nice guides section, organized forum, what's not to like?
Guru is only a place if you want to know about what average price you can sell something for ingame. Nothing more, and usually the loading time is so much that if you ask your alliance you get the answer sooner, with a 90% correct answer, instead of Guru's overpriced things.

I meant the forum part really, but I didn't say that, and you have to include the 'whole package' I guess.
I have the guru pricecheck stickies in my favourites and, like others here, that's where I go if I need to check prices. Just about everything else I want to know about GW I get from Wiki, but I'll always look in 'amp's guides section if I want some tips on a build or whatever: even if it's on PvX I still like to cross-reference ;)
When I'm thinking about new armour, I always check (Tribina's) armour section here, as well as Wiki. It's very nicely laid out here, which is another reason I like this site. I like the layout and dark colours. Being without the ability to check up on your threads of interest is a big pain, but I know they're working on that.
So keep up the good work Ampers!

You will REALLY want to take that down because i checked, and buying signatures (or similar things) are strictly against the EULA..
Just a heads up.
On topic. If im writing a guide, ill write it on guru because my last one which was not accepted and asked me to give a reason to accept it was already written on the guide itself. i will not writ a guide again because it wasnt properly read through and cast aside.
But guru has a terrible, terrible server which is only suited to far less than the traffick that it takes. 99% of cases it wll be a server side problem, not yours.

Guru's lag is due to ts server and high visitor number. I use both for different reasons, and they are kinda different....so its pointless to compare AMP and Guru.

well i've been away from all of the websites l8ly with being out of the country and all my exams before that but heres my point of view
Guru is probably the Biggest community out there, so When it comes to Auctions they are the best...
Even if u dont include the long load time, rude responses, and akward forum setup, it still isnt as nice of a site
the Amp community is considerably smaller, enabling us faster loading times
We have an Anti-Flame policy which alos new players to actually play the game instead of getting flamed and never using it again
the Amp community also has Very experianced players who easily would rank in the "1337" category of Guild wars players
We also have new players, which gives us a good diversity, relaxed enviornment, and i gain a TON of thingsut buy listening to questions of new players, its sort of like when teachers say they learn from their students
the Guides section here is also of high quality standard. I have written countless guides taht we're politely declined and was given tons of links and help from mods such as Keo, Mriswith and everybody else
Because it is so hard to actually enter a guide, by the time it gets in, it has been looked at by several points of veiw from proffesional players and has been created to the fullest extent of its ability
this then allows the new players to understand
on guru, within seconds of posting a guide (or minutes case of load time =P) it is almost always flamed into submission
i love the fact the the Amp community is a small tightly knit pack of players that lets anyone in, but kicks flamers out
now that i've finished my long speech...i would like to give a toast...
\To the Guild Wars, and the Wonderful Game Amp Community!
*****E D I T*****
Welcome to GameAmp Baneat!
Send me your guide, I'll take a look at it and try to give u a reason the mods didnt accept
usally its from gramar errors, or not being very useful
sometimes u need extra screenshots or titles
Most of my guides are declined, so i redo them and submit them 10x clearer and better and they always get though ^_^
Hope that helps
