| Rare enchants VS +40 Spell damage |

Well, as the name suggests, I've been wanting to know what people think of the soulfrost and sunfire enchantments over the +40 spell dmg, is it worth the INSANE mats?
Sunfire mats alone sell for 1000+ gold for only 10 extra damage. (I know... I have it.)

I am quite happy with the +40 damage on my bringer of death at the moment. I didnt find sunfire worth the extra mats, even though I do have the mats on hand for it.

You know, I found this topic while I was hunting for something else. I had looked at these enchants a while back and I could have swore that the original effects from them were different.
The +40 spell damage vs a +50. They both read +50 but to specific spells like Shadow/Frost and Fire/Arcane.
I could have sworn that this was one of those "Chance to proc" enchants like Mongoose?????
Did they change it with the last patch?
If this is the way it always has been. Then it's just one of those "Thundar killed a few too many brain cells this weekend" kinda things.
If you have an enchanter that won't screw you on the tip that they want, and let you bring the mats it's worth the extra 10 spell damage IF MY WEAPON IS NOT ALREADY ENCHANTED. I'm currently sporting the Staff of Infinite Mysteries and have the +40 chant on it. I wouldn't replace my +40 for this on that weapon. But, if I happen to get a newer, more uber weapon to swap it out for. I would go looking for someone with this and start saving up my mats.

friggen stupid logictech...they need to update their friggen drivers so I dont hit a button and it goes back and I loose my whole response anyway...
It adds to your base stats, not a proc...so its always there. It doesnt proc. You may be thinking of in 1.2 when they change spell damage stats to make it so a fireball and a fireblast for example dont get the same spell damage addition from gear like they used to because one is a 3 second cast and one is an instant cast. the longer a cast the more damage it gets from your gear. So a fireball will get the full damage from gear but a fireblast only gets part of it.
+50 meh...I like my +40 still just fine.

It's always been +50, never a proc. As for whether or not it's worth it depends on if you have the gold to spend and if the weapon is something you're going to have for a long time.
I put Mongoose on pretty much every one-hander I pick up thats worth it but we have a pretty abundant supply of Void Crystals in our G-bank.
