Could someone explain what the armour skills nerf actually means? I'm kinda confused about it...

i think its like this
Doylak Sig-+32 Armor
Doylak Sig+Physical Resistance=+40 armor
if you use one skill youll still get the full effect of the skill, but if you use two or more you'll just get the bonus from the one that gives the highest

So you can never get more than 60 Extra armour (armour of earth)

Let's say your warrior had AL 80 armor and a 16 AL shield. You also have 10 points in both strength and tactics. You ran into a mob and cast Dolyak Signet which would raise your armor by 30 points for 16 seconds. You also used "Watch Yourself" which would add another 18 armor for 9 seconds.
Prior to the update for 9 seconds you would have had 144 AL, because the two armor adding skills stacked. Now, only the bonus from Dolyak Signet would count because it is a single skill.

Ahh so instead of + 48 from Dolyak and Watch yourself, you would only get the +30 from dolyak?
That kinda sucks... doesn't this have a massive effect on tanks/ farming?

What it means is:
With a single skill nothing changes, you get the armour bonus as normal. E.g. +67 armour with Armor of Earth
With two skills you get the highest one: E.g Armor of Earth (67) and Kinetic Armor (82) you get +82 armour
With two skills with a low armour bonus you can get a maximum of +25. E.g a skill that gives + 20 armour and another skill that gives +20 armour will net you +25 in total.

Yeah, making most armor increasing skills far inferior. For an Ele, all they have to do every now and then is cast Aura of Restoration to keep up their Kinetic armor, thus being on the same level as or surpassing Warriors in armor. I don't see the point of this since they included so much enchant removers since Nightfall.
Dervish have them, Necros have them, Mesmers have them, Warriors and Rangers have skills to punish you for having them, Sins have them, Rits have 1 or a few. Only ones I can't think of are Monks (healers), Eles (direct dmg dealers), and Paragons (supporters). Only 3 out of 10 classes dont have something that's anti-enchant yet we all get punished for it...
Makes absoulutely no sense.

Yeah normally I see a nerf and I know what it was for like nerfing BoA was a PvP nerf and nerfing SF was a PvP nerf and nerfing Spirit Bond was a PvE nerf but honestly, Armor didn't really effect PvP or PvE. Anyone with half a brain brings some kinda enchantment removal to Ra/Ta, In HB you dont really need to, In HA of course you have some and its kinda useless to have it there too besides added armor like ghostforge insignias. And in Gvg theres so much enchantment removal so armor didn't effect pvp that heavily so its not a pvp nerf...
But in pve people did solo farming and it wasn't that overpowered but I guess thats what it was for, all the sol UW builds and things like that. I really dont care about this nerf that much, Urgoz warren ftw!

No.
What it means is one skill can break the limit, but stacking armor buffing skills that break the limit cap will not be affective, like stacking Dolyak, Armor of Earth and Defy Pain, they wont add up, but if you use Armor of Earth and it breaks the cap its ok because its ONE armor buff skill.

I think they did it alot due to paragons. In HA for example, paraspike is one of the FotM - builds out there. 6 paras with 80AL + armour buffs that can just stand there, take almost no dmg and keep hitting you is way overpowered. Alot of people complained about it. I mean seriously, they could get well over 130+ AL. Anyway, like I said, people complained and anet did something. And in the process they got tankfarmers and I heard somewhere that it affected geotankers aswell?

Welcome to the world that us necro live on even thou they improved it but not much.But when thy nerfed us necros we were getting are main source of energy complety kncked out of a are chacters cause we would use all theenergry and then half to wait 5 min ut to get hat 13 energy.
Wonder what class is gonna get hit next.

They havn't touched mesmers. But than again thats because many people dont play them. I personally believe they will screw over either expertise or the ranger class in general. But thats just me.

Yeah i pretty much lost the functonality of my old tank build that i used months ago..i used to solo many areas with melee monsters, now its much harder.
I mean i was stacking Armor of Earth, Watch Yourself, Defy Pain, Dolyak and all i got hit with were 0's....

Compared to the amount of people that play guild wars mesmers are a rarity in pve. Not such a rarity in pvp. But still not something you see frequently like warriors or sins. or pretty much any other class in general. And if they do nerf mesmers many people would not be affected simply because they don't play mesmers.
I personally have nothing against mesmers. Hell, mesmers and sins are the only classes I will ever play in PvP. Plus, with all the recent updates it seems like instead of nerfing mesmers they have been buffing them which is fine by me.

This is just another example of A-nets unwritten policy of putting anti-farming stuff before game-play, stability, fun factor etc, etc.....
Nothing they do would surprise me.....
HOWEVER, I have noticed that when I use multiple armor buffs I seem to get the last armor buff used rather than the largest. I say this because when Dolyak Signet and Watch yourself, I seem to be taking more damage than when I use Dolyak signet ONLY...
It is not exact by any means, but my damage numbers are smaller on the whole when I use Dolyak Signet ONLY.
It may be a bug or it may be just random luck..
Try it yourself and see.
