every time there are weekends with specific preparations with major stuff in them, extremely many people lag SO much that they cannot even have fun in the event...
yeah for the next posters that always gotta say something negative, i AM whining about it. because i cannot play guild wars at any place without suffering from the lag?!?!
why can't anet just totally remove these double lag weekends and rather keep working hard on the next expansion/game/updates?
yes sometimes/often the weekends are fun and often no lag, but for example in this dragon crap weekend i get that much lag that i can't even move normally for 10 seconds without rubberbanding...maps take ages to load,etc.. it's purely annoying and i don't get why is this is happening?
honestly i'd prefer to vote to remove these double lag events OR pay monthly like wow so that i do not get any lag...
it's just...annoying, you can't have fun in the vent to a certain extent untill lag kicks you out of makes it impossible to play!

they are, and one of the expansions has 4 missions where you will have to pay €26 euro's for... :@

or maybe Lag on get disconnected lol
But yeah, its a massive problem...and to add to it, my guild chat doesn't work properly in Towns as well...so I can't even lagg with my friends :(

Well, I don't know about you, but my computer is fine. Im having a great time enjoying this so-called "double lag weekend". Well too bad, and I haven't had any problem with any "double lag weekends". So ya, I do agree with you, and stop whining.

It's cos germany died.
To explain, it's cos the europe servers, based in frankfurt I think, are really rubbish. They seem to be on their last legs.
Basically, they are breaking down, so we get lag. meh.

I've had horrible lag since the start of the event, Everytime I enter a town outside of the International District I have a dead screen for about 2 minutes.
GW has dissconnected twice so far and as I attempt to farm, it keep freezing up like a glass of water in a snowstorm.
I think these weekend events are useless, they just make the game un-enjoyable for weekends at a time.

GG Rach, you got people hating you and they dont even know you. Yeah the germany servers are getting messed up. So really it's all European servers that get the lag, and america is saved from lag.
quit gw for good. end of story.

But you (and im trying to be as nice as possible) shouldn't complain about this event or other weekend events and say anet please remove them. People actually want to have fun. I think if you are having lag problems you shouldn't say "Anet should get rid of these weekend events" because thats where your basically saying "Hey anet, can you remove the weekend events just for me so i can have no lag?" Thats 1 person your talking for, you. Just like how you said this: "honestly i'd prefer to vote to remove these double lag events OR pay monthly like wow so that i do not get any lag... " Pay monthly??? Lag still occurs on Pay to Play gmes, and theres AGAIN where you said "I" Shouldn't complain like that, IMO.
Just my 2 cents. :D

Have you read any other posts? There are TONS of posts like this where people complain about lag but you're singling him out? C'mon...Maybe you don't have lag but other people do, maybe you're the one person without lag. Europe is screwed over with the weekend events cuz of the major lag and yes he's from Europe so lag messes with him too. Countless people were DCing all of the AB weekend because of major lag that was throughout the European servers. In Germany they're having problems with the servers and that's what is sending out such major lag issues. So he's really speaking for the majority of people in europe...

Yea but even if they got rid of it I doubt it would fix the lag anyway. I mean on the weekend more people play which puts more strain on the servers which means more lag. The events bring in more people. So your basically asking lots of people not to play so you can have less lag.

My point is this:
I usually play everyday. For the last 2 years I have Played, I have only had Lag like this during the weekends when Events like this were going on. I'm not asking A-Net to change it just for me, I'm just complaining because it's very annoying and I know I'm not the only one suffering.

Meh the solution is not 'anet get rid of fun stuff from gw' its 'anet ok I'll buy GW:EN and some character slots online so you get money now buy some decent servers!!!'

hey,
i really like these events (well most of them) because there one of the many things unique to GW imo. the festivals in wow every month or so are awful imo,
(from what i've seen ,orphan week, where you go to 10 places to get a mini pet and darkmooon faire,have to go to a ranomd place and find a box)
this weekend is moslt an afk weekend. gonna stop when i get my 3rd luckly and unlucky rank as they cost alot and stop me playing GW.
-i'd vote for them to stay.
besides somthing new everyweek is fun,from double balth, to X3 green drops, X2 exp form bosses...not a fan of HB tho, not great at it lol.
i dont really seem ot be affected much by lag on a major scale.
so i cant really speak,hopefully the eu servers will be fixed...soon

I usually have no problems with Lag, even during an event. But, it seems lately that, I have a problem at least once per session were the lag is so bad that it takes ~20sec to catch up. This seems to always happen when I am in the middle of fighting, it makes for some close calls.
I wonder if there is a problem with the American servers now...
...but, back to topic, I (as well as many others) like the events. I know I wish I had played more games to get my lucky title up so that I could use these Lock Picks better ;p
EDIT:
I just saw the last post about their 'ping'...I usually ping 100-200 and last night i was outside the Eternal Grove during a lag (that ended in disconnect) my ping was 10,000+!

It's their servers, cause I'm lagging, rubberbanding like hell, which normally almost never occurs.
My ISP is fine, my computer is stable, up-to-date, pretty recent and it got a full format last weekend.
I prefer ANet shutting their servers down for 8 hours for a clean reboot and maintance than a whole weekend of lag.

Yh I'm pretty sure all of europe has this, my ping is usually around 10ms but recently it has been constantly over 3,000ms. I once got a ping of 30,000ms! Also I keep getting randomly dc. I left my pc afk for a few hours to get my hapless title and when I got back it turns out I had been dc after 10 points :@

Anet themselves reported on the EU Server issue in Germany : read it here.
I gave up trying to play last weekend as the lag got progressively worse throughout the event, which was a real shame as I wanted that next faction rank. I havent played for a few days and I was really looking forward to this weekends event, unfortunately trying a quest at 4FPS (down to 2 in towns) with immeasurable lag...I had to leave. I'm going to try again later and hope its a little better, I really dont want to miss out on the missions.
The Germany servers are obviously on their last legs, I hope Anet can sort it out very soon.
Pay for play MMOs get server issues too, I was trying out WoW and logged in to discover the server was down so I couldnt access any of the characters I created there and that was within the last 2 days. Money might be a bigger issue with Anet but I have faith they will fix it.
Anet shouldnt stop the weekends, they just need better servers :) To do that they are going to need money and shopping at the online shop does give them more profit than buying games at a retail store - I want to support them more if I can, they do make a game we are all fans of after all...I dont have a credit card so I'll be giving cash to a friend whos happy to do it for me, if you want those missions and want to support Anet more then all I have to say is 'where theres a will theres a way' :)
I dont want to take this subject off topic, but the money thing was raised and it ties in with how much they can spend on servers...
In short NO to Lag YES to fun weekends!
