magic powered airships! 

I thought my idea was so good it deserved a topic,
my guild like the idea aswell,
maybe its not for GW 1 but maybe could go in GW 2, although be nice to have it in GW 1.

The way the airship works is theres people who are payed to infuse their magical energies into the airship, then when you go on it you use your magic to make the energy lift u up,
( you wouldn't actully have to do this you just click the map )
so the airship could be in an airship shape or it could be more like a flying carpet or boat.

The airship would produce a map of all the outposts that one of your charcters has been to before ( so your new charcter knows how to get there ).

We already know in guild wars people have the ability to make objects float ( galraths tower in kessex peak ).

The airship would work like this :

Guildless players have to pay say 2 or 3 thousand
at a place near the start of the campaign where an airship is docked.

Players in a guild have the option to purchase an airship for there guild hall for say 100 to 200k ,
this reduces the price to 50 or 100g per trip.

The idea is to eliminate the whole grinding experience of getting your 8 or possibly more characters through 3 or 4 campaigns for those who just want to cap skills.

The thing with this is the reward for completing the campaign.
This reward should only be recieved if you have completed all missions in that campaign ( with the exception of two path missions where only one need be completed. )

I had a similar idea... although doing every mission in prophecies would mean a lot of backtracking for most of my characters lol

It's a nice idea but can't we just evolve the map? I like to travel fast and even having to zoom out or travel via a city or GH takes too long for me. I can't help think that an Airship will just take longer?

Had another point that i thought of :
the devs made the paths fixed in NF and factions to encourage
teamplay through missions, but a lot of us never form teams
because we find them far to unreliable.

There is of course the exception of when u play with your guild, but you can still do that for titles or on the really hard missions,
besides youve got to complete the path before you can use the airship, with that a lot of players will team up.

the airship is not a substitute for the map, its for a character that hasn't visited an outpost, but another character on that account has,
so if you wanted to take your level 2 to mouth of torment or unwaking waters you'd use the airship.

Yeah. That would be cool... like I want end of NF skills/armour for my derv. but can't be bothered to do the misssions..


On the other hand, that means that you have no incentive to play, if you can warp straight to the end...

for me repeatedly doing continent treks is not fun anyway,
once ive completed it once i probaly wont want to do all the stuff again, much rather do title stuff like vanquishing, allaince battle or go team or solo farming.

Yeah I like the idea to take a new char anywhere an old one has been but then you get into the same argument as you do with being run.

The introduction of Elite tomes allows any char you create to learn any elite you already have therefore negating the need to play a new char all the way through the chapter to cap say...Jagged Bones.

I still think it's an interesting idea tho.
