Does anyone think Dynamic Weather should be implemented into CoX? It'd make it more realistic and there could be hazards such as being struck by lightning when flying too high and their could be missions caused by it too, such as a secret lab being struck by lightning and some creature was brought to life and Lord Recluse wants it captured, heroes could save a puppy or something idk.
It could also offer mini missions that grant a temp power and this mish will only be available during certain weather. Like an eclipse you could find some dude that will give you a Dark temp power and during a thunderstorm a meteorologist or someone similar could give you a mission and reward you with an electric temp power.
Also the weather effects won't happen every day, it'll be random like it is in real life, it won't rain every other day cuz it can go weeks without raining in real life, stuff like snow won't happen until the winter months and so on.
Powers based on elemental type stuff can also get a power boost from certain weather.
Sunny/Normal: No power boost.
Cloudy: +End Regen for everyone.
Rainy: +Dmg for all plant melee and +Acc for all plant ranged attacks.
Thunderstorm: +Dmg for all energy melee and +Acc for all energy ranged attacks.
Snow: +Dmg for all ice melee and +Acc for ice ranged attacks.
Heatwave: +Dmg for all fire melee and +Acc for all fire ranged attacks.
Eclipse: +Dmg for all Dark melee and +Acc for all Dark ranged attacks.
Drought: +Dmg for all stone melee and +Acc for all stone ranged attacks.
That's all I can think of for now.

Old idea with a twist that would probably only add to the problem the original idea creates. It's a bad idea that will thankfully never happen. Ever.

Personally I like the idea... Sylus sounds like you put alot of thought into it and I agree something like that would add a lvl of realism to the game.

Just plain old mist in the monring and some rain would be nice. No special powers or bonuses, just little grey streaks coming from the sky.

Weather effects, if implemented properly could add a cool new realism to the game. However there are already people who do not team up with too many masterminds because of the lag caused. (I know because I am one) I fear that the addition of weather effects would cause tremendous lag for those of us playing the game on lower quality systems to the extent that the lag would make the game unplayable during such events.
I can remember playing several games on my computer that ran completely smoothly until I entered levels in which there was lots of weather effects. The tremendous number of effect sprites required to make the weather realistic looking was simply too much for my graphics to handle.
Don't get me wrong, if there were some way to simply implement this without causing this problem I am all for it, I just don't know how that could be done. Perhaps giving players the choice to turn off the weather? I don't know how it would work.

I agree totally, but I kind of figured the majority would want added bonuses. All I really care about is the weather and things that make it more realistic such as being able to be struck by lightning.

True, those people who have slower PCs would find it incredibly outrageous, but they can always upgrade. They probably could add a feature for weather effects, such as low texture clouds and low rain settings. It wouldn't look as good but it'd keep people's system from stalling.

I don't want this to ever happen unless Cryptic updates the all the servers' hardware. This Pentium III crap they've got going on just isn't working anymore. I figure you guys don't ever play on Freedumb otherwise you would realize exactly how bad this idea is. The game is already laggy enough on some servers, adding something like this before they fix the current issues is just asking for server-wide crashes every couple of days. If the Devs ever implemented something to this degree without first upgrading the servers and fixing the performance issues I would quit this game right then and there, go get myself an XBox Live Gold Account and start up Halo 2/3 again until the Devs fixed the darn thing or got rid of it.
I hate to be the a-hole here, but suggestions like this that don't take into account performance issues really get me going. I get irked even more when someone suggests you should just 'upgrade' your system. I'm running with a 3.2GHz processor, 1GB of HeatSync RAM, a very decent 256MB video card with excellent drivers to help balance performance (ATI RADEON 9600 Series with Omega Drivers), 2 very nice HDs which I Defrag regularly with a specialized defragmenting program (Perfect Disk), a great Motherboard that backs everything up with respectable 800 FSB, more fans and cooling devices than you can shake a stick at, and that's just the guts of the machine. A FireWire Card, an ASUS Sound card capable of surround sound, some gauges to measure temperature and voltage and such, and an uber groovy blue light that lights up the clear siding of the custom case almost finish it off (there's a bunch of other cool gadgets, but they don't affect performance too much because I never really use them). I get still get lag even at the lowest possible settings (before someone brings this up I have a very high speed internet connection, faster than 86% of the rest of the US).
I probably do need to upgrade a few things, but I'm pretty sure those specs more than meet the recommended settings printed on the box. That should at least allow me to play on Performance without any issues, right? Wrong. One more time: The lag is bad enough as it is this will make it at least twice as bad if not worse. Therefore, this is a bad idea because it screws over way too many people for something that really doesn't matter. I'd much rather have my EATs thank you very much.

Very nice Hard Drive. Maybe I should upgrade to one of those.

I do play on Freedom, yes I know bad choice for someone who doesn't wanna lag. My toon is probably stuck in suspended animation right about now since I made him with the 10 day trial and I have yet to purchase a copy of the game. Are you serious that they are running P3 Servers? Those things need be thrown into a burn pile. If they are using P3 servers then wtf are they doing with the $15 a month they are making from thousands of people?
Nice rig by the way, I'm upgrading to a new build pretty soon myself, my current specs are different than those stated in my sig, right now I'm running an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Clawhammer at 2.6ghz, 1GB RAM, ABIT KU8 mobo, kind of sucks, a 6800GT 256mb Video card, onboard sound and my case is an apevia X-plorer with 2 80mm blue LED fans though I am adding more someday. This rig will more than likely be turned into a digital studio/media box.
My new rig is gonna be a dual core AMD, something like a 6000+, 2 to 4GB of RAM, an 8800GTX, 750GB of storage, 32 bit sound card and Windows Vista, but that won't be until a while and I'm sure they'll have all the bugs ironed out by then.
