You stay up for 16 hours
He stays up for days on end.
You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.
You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.
He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.
You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.
You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.
You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.
You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.
You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.
You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.
You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.
You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.
You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.
You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.
You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.
He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.

i fully support this. normally i dont like political posts in this fourm and i may bitch about them but that is because they start out about the game and are in a fourm that is related to the game but this isnt so i have no second thoughts about supporting it.
I fully support them as well, but I dont think quoting a post full of pictures is a good idea.
If 5 people quote the post, lets say theres 500kb of pictures in each quote, that 2,500kb that someone on DSL who wants to see what this thread is about has to download.
Personally I don't feel a game forum is the place to post something like this, the minute someone makes a post that disagrees with the OP a flame war will no doubt ensue.

RE: support
God bless all of those proud people protecting us everyday.
I just wrote out a whole argument but I realised I can sum it up in a few words.
This doesn't belong here and it makes me cringe.
Sorry but forums are for opinions and there's mine.
You just said forums are for opinions.. then this is the right place.
typo?
If someone can not express their opinion freely then why do we even bother upholding anything that America is suppose to stand for.
The only reason there are flame wars on opinions is because most of the people are closed minded to them. Reflect on your opinions but remain open to others.
I say let people post theirs until it gets out of hand then Admins should steer it back on track or close thread.
I hope that every single soldier anywhere in the world will be able to come home save. Whether they are American, Somali, Indonesian or Pakistani. Of course I do. And so does every single person visiting these forums.
So what is the use of this post other than a political statement?
Are you perhaps hoping somebody will see this and sign up for the army as well? Or do you hope somebody will start thinking maybe the current US government is actually doing a great job? Either way, the whole purpose of the post is propaganda, and it doesn't belong here. Just as much as that I am not posting here a whole range of pictures why we all should be pro-choice, or against drilling oil in Alaska.
Hot diggity there's oil in Alaska? Where's me pickaxe??
A nice well made point PD +cred.
Maybe we should let this one drop tho...it's just a chain email ->

i still fail to see how 'he' is protecting me...in anyway. Since the Americans and subsequently the British went into Iraq, terrorist attacks have gone through the roof, and my brother was nearly killed by 1 of those attacks, ppl here at home are dying MORE since, so how 'he' is protecting me is beyond my imagination.
So forgive me if i don't give my support!

Soldiers are there by order. I don't like it either more than you do. no one does but support the troops not the order giving to them.

it's a job they chose to do, if they didn't want their lives to be at risk then it's their choice. Also, i don't see the same remorse felt world wide for people in the rescue services that die in the line of duty.

I support the troops but i think Religion and War are the worst things to mix seeing as religion started this war.

I'm with you on that one.

Yes joining the military is a choice just like being a fireman, police or any other service job. People die all the time in those jobs and it is their choice. You should support them because most chose that job so you do not have to.
There are countries where military service is mandatory. Would you rather be there then a place where you get to choose if you want to serve.

This situation reminds me of somethin', a new game is coming out name: Haze. Although this maybe sounds outrages ( a game linking too War) but Haze pretty much tells things how they are , it's just put thrue another vision.
The soldiers in Haze have a vision which only allows to see them what the Company lets them to see, but once and a while the vision goes off-line and they see the reality and then when the vision is back up the Company gives them a little extra doze of a drug named Nectar (catch my drift).

And unfortunately this is to Black&White, some people just don't have a choice. I advice Jarhead as a good example for this one.
I rarely think about the world events and about them, but this made me stop and think. It made me grateful for things we all have, and it doesn't really matter where you live whether it be in North America or Europe, that we got it good.
So it reminded me on what was given and don't ask for much in return. Thank you.
P.S. and as for the on-topic/off-topic reminder by the moderators who are just doing their job, I say don't worry about it. It was put in the off-topic section for a reason. =^_^=

Somebody just lock this topic, this just makes me (well I'm not going into specifics)
Evil Geek is right, this is hugely inapproriate topic that conjures up different opinions that will divide this community. Lets keep off topics to stuff we can all relate to and keep away from topics like these.
Argg now you got me venting...
I am vet and served in combat zones, had to apply pressure numerous times to bullet holes the size of a fist just to watch my buddies die in my arms. this is what happens your primary mos is 11b (infantry) like me. the military does not ask for support and only sometimes asks for it (usually when they need money), the same goes for cops and firefighters, its their job. we all give back to the community in some way shape or form. some teach, some vote and some put theirselves on the front line. dont confuse what the military does and whats going on politically. the two are separate, we are not fighting bushs war and we are not fighting for oil or political gain. a soldiers death is the consequence of the occupation he or she serves in not because of war. They are people who serve 2 years in combat zone and dont die because theyre in the FOB the whole time. Then there are soldiers dying in helicopter crashes in training sessions, soldiers getting shot during live fire excercises on base. they are soldier that fast rappel off the back of black hawk and tangle in the ropes and choke themselves on the way down.
does the military need special recognition, i dont believe so. we are just doing out part like everyone else. we dont need special treatment or worldwide support to do our job. if people dont like us who cares.
JFK said it best, "Its not what your country can do for you, its what you can do for your country..."
There is no one group that deserves special support or attention because of current events, because we as whole make a difference. And if anyone deserves support during this trying times its the people who here at home keeping things going. without them soldiers wouldnt have anything to come home to.

somebody hurry and lock this topic before I comment again.

How can you think this is propoganda?
This is meant to open your eyes to how fortunate you are and how easy you ahve things. How others are fighting for us to go on with our normal lives. This is a chance for everyone to step back and be greatful for what thye have, and hope that they can retain all that they have.
I am joining the Marines in under a year, and do you think its because of what I see on tv? Of course not! It's what I think is right. So thank you for your support.
