Album Of The Year IMO
Studies show that 92% of teens listen to rap. If you are part of the 8% that listens to real music then add this to your signature.
Nile is probably one of the best bands ever.

Question: This is the second thread that I've seen in the last hour asking questions about credibility and stuff.
Does it really matter who keeps score?
What happened to "I help because I want to" and not care about 'credibility'?

That is another interesting thing and I'm tempted to write an article of some kind.....
Just about every assumption that is guaranteed is that when it comes to guessing a user's gender, it is always a "HIM" even though the name could have Juvenile Feminine characteristics since it's also to easy to assume that those users are really undercover law enforcement. You always assume that the user is a 'him'
It's interesting when you come to think about it...

Credibility to me just reinforces when I am helpful....I help the best I can, sometimes I recieve credibility for it, sometimes I dont.....when I do, I figure that it helped someone, when I dont, I figure either A) My response didnt help them for various reasons(either I was wrong, or someone else already answered their question, etc) or B) it was someone new who doesnt know how to give credit.
Either way, I dont care if I recieve credit for helping or not, its just a reinforcers telling myself that I was helpful.

I usually assume that the user is an it, I use asexual references until I can be sure. Then I usually forget :/
What interests me more is the reasons for guys making female characters...I know that 6 out of the 9 chars in my sig are female (4/11 total are male) and I know my reasons for it but what are yours?
I know players of both gender who refuse to make a char opposite to themselves and vice versa. I guess that you can be pretty sure you're speaking to a guy most of the time since MMORPG's are still nerd territory and therefore we're pretty much all guys!
I rambled...can anyone find my point?...

I make female characters mostly and I am a male.....out of 8 characters, 6 of them are female. I partially make them female because some classes, a female seems to fit better....like a ranger, mesmer and elementalist. Whereas my warrior and monk(both of which I see as Male classes), are males. But I also make female characters, because the female shape is much more interesting than the typical male shape. :P
As for those who refuse to make a character of the opposite gender, I think they do that because they try to make the character like themselves.

i believe i can help on this one...
its a well known fact that is actually illegal for women to play video games. in some countries it is even illegal for women to be around a piece of electrical equipment. i think it was Albert Einstein who was a keen game fan himself who once said "Women...?".
Not only does that prove the above, but it is also impossible to argue with a scientist, especially one with as large a moustache as his.
Fig 1: Einsteins noticeably large facial hair
Fig 2: Einstein after a hard day on the Wii
back in the early 1900's when the playstation 2 had just been released, girls were often burned at the stake or dropped down a well if they were found playing with 'boys toys'. in one example in 1903 a girl by the name of Helen McTronic was burned when it was discovered she had made an underground den for women gamers much like herself. there was an estimated 15 ps2's 5 Nintendo Wii's and 15 game-boys confiscated. One girl was let free when she was found with a Sega Saturn and it was apparently some kind of bread making apparatus according to local authorities.
as you can see from the above i think there is enough evidence in as to why most gamers are known as a 'him/he'.
...hope this helps :)

http://infohost.nmt.edu/~val/howto.html - The fact that some people actually need to read this worries me!
Clicky - I don't really know what this one is going on about...I was distracted by the pretty picture!
Sometimes I think that women have an aversion to technology and then I meet one who can teach me how to cade and then kick my ass all night on GTA. (Not my GF :/ )

How did we go from Tribina, to credability, to gender, to a epic about late 18th century gamers, to reasons behind the gender of characters? Well I dont think you need to guess why I have female characters. If only they were real!
Remember the movie "Wierd Science?"

Yea wierd
well for me I choose male or female depending on how cool the armor looks for their particular profession, on GW at least
