alright after quitting wow, i decided to come bad to GW since wow is just completely boring, and dumb.(i honestly dont suggest it) anyways i only have the orginal GW, and was wondering what xpac should i get first...i plan on continuing my monk and continuing pvp.
So my question is do u suggest i get Nightfall, build up my heros, get better weapons, gear, titles, ect, then buy factions for pvp
or
get factions try out the pvp, and then get nightfall
-----
whats the main differences between the games? whats worth more in value?
starting fresh, what game u suggest i get?
thx

I would suggest Nightfall because nowadays heroes are irreplaceable since more and more people hero/hench missions and stuff and are quite handy. Only until you get to the hard missions and stuff do u need real people. Factions is mostly for PvP and the storyline isnt so great imo. I would take Nightfall first, get your characters to lvl 20, get skills unlocked then go to factions for more pvp and stuff.
quit gw for good. end of story.

I suggest jumping into Nightfall now and when you have the opportunity, pick up Factions at a later date.
In terms of Value, I'd suggest purchasing Nightfall. The story is much better than that in Factions. Plus, with the Hero feature, it gives the game a little more depth and customization in that you can make your own super-henchmen.
Factions is a great game, think of it as a "express-way" to level 20. That particular campaign is geared to get players up and out into PvP from the start. The Quests offer much higher rewards.

yeah go straight for nightfall first then get factions imhp factions is only goodfor skills that you get there and if your bored of pree seering faction is like that on roids it alot faster more exp isgive so you get of the begginer island andgo to main land.you really dont need the hero from factions most fo the good heros are in NF and propochies.

Seeing as you said continuing PvP and your monk, I would say get Nightfall. As well for PvE, you get your heroes which are invaluable. But, for PvP, you get the most used skills (many of them) in PvP. As you seem to enjoy monking (I'm guessing so in PvP too?), you will probably need nightfall. Most monks nowadays are set up as 1) Lod/Infuse 2) RC (also with shield of absorption, a great nightfall skill) 3) Divert Hexes (Not used as much, but still there) 4) Zealous Benediction (Also not used as much anymore, but still a very nice skill for any monk).
IMO, the "PvP" aspect of Factions isn't really important. It's more of a PvE sort of PvP (basically alliance battles to gain faction for kurzick/luxon guilds - which also increases those respective titles).
In the end, you are always going to be missing some skill or another unless you have all the campaigns... but IMO nightfall is more important based on the current PvP environment skill selection wise. As well as the hero aspect makes Nightfall the easy choice for PvE.
I just went to look at Wiki as I almost forget to check regular skills as well. Here is (at least for the Monk profession) what I think you would miss from the two campaigns respectively that are used often in PvP.
Factions:
1) Deny Hexes (A nice hex removal, although can be replaced with holy veil easily)
2) Gift of Health (Great spell on a prot bar with ~7 or 8 in healing taking a few off divine for a nice heal)
3) Signet of Rejuvenation (Nice no-energy skill for an LoD bar, but can be replaced)
4) Spirit Bond (Have the other monk take it and you take Prot spirit if needed)
Nightfall:
1) Words of Comfort (Generic Healing spell - can be replaced)
2) Dismiss Conditions (Condition removal, can be replaced by mend aliment which is VERY similar)
3) Mending Touch (Depends on the other monk. Usually used on an RC assuming the other monk doesn't have Draw Conditions)
4) Shield of Absorption (Great skill. It COULD be replaced by shielding hands, but it is much better)
Well, that's basically it for non-elites there. The elites you would miss out on from Factions, which I guess I forgot to mention are: Blessed Light (Basically outdated), Life Sheath (Same as BLight), and Air of Enchantment (Used occasionally with Zealot's Fire smiter - for continuous casting on a melee character).
Just a final word: if you are looking for getting back mainly into PvP, I would suggest getting on and observing a few matches and watch the skills used. Pop on over to Wiki and check which campaign more skills would be needed from that you would rather not replace here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_of_skills_by_campaign . Strictly on a PvE note, I would go for Nightfall: you can get inscribable weapons without paying for every single one and you get your heroes.
