OMFG!!!!!
I believe I was a victim of Friday the 3th! If the mysterious unlucky day does have a way of spinning a mischevious web, then I have been entangled.
As I was installing the new 2Gig of memory that I just recently purchased (for a good deal btw!), my PC started going into convulsions upon rebooting and POOF!!!! Nothing! It no longer powers up and nothing that I've tried worked. I brought in my top guys and they all have the same verdict for me... *sigh* my PC has lived its final life.
Do to other RL financial obligations, there is no ETA on when I'm going to be back up and running, as a new PC (even a base model) is no where in the budget atm.
My apologies for missing the event last night :( Only death would have kept me from it, and...well, the death of my PC indeed made that happen.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was wondering where you were last night Nova and I completed the TF with a PUG there were only 3 of us ampers who showed up last night hopefully today would be a better turn out.
Have you tried looking at Dell for a new computer I know they have some nice ones on the cheap and they have payment plans that are reasonable.
Thanks to Death Fetish for this cool "siggy"

RIP Bishop's Computer :'(
Sorry to hear that bishop, maybe friday the 13th wasn't a good day for the event opening, and don't worry about it, the event was basically a total letdown last night, even if you had shown, it would have only been 4 of us, also my apologies to those who did attend, i thought the event would have been a bigger hit. Any ways, hope to see you back soon, bishop, sorry for the loss of your computer, it lived a good life.
You can get any computer you want for a decent price, you just have to be smart about it, like wait for sales and stuff like that, if you get the paper, read the store adds, like walmart, target, best buy, etc. But yea payment plans are nice too, not sure what others have them except for Dell.

Sorry to hear about that Boss Man. Guess all you can do now is open up a lemonade stand and earn some extra cash that way.
But Boy I can't imagine that..

Yeah, Friday the 13th wasn't nice.
I was doing a Hamidon raid and the servers crashed. All of them - the game servers, the site, the boards... the European ones, that is.

Well, when you get a chance, BD; tell me what happened and what parts you got. I've brought enough PC's back from the dead that I'm gettin' a messiah complex. Who knows?
To be honest, from your post it just sounds like a memory glitch, but if you've already gotten expert opinions; you would know best.
Still, parts is parts. I'll bet you could scavenge the box and get away with a rebuild for cheap. Usually a PC 'death' is only a new beginning. When a PC dies I usually 'phoenix' two out of the ashes.

I went to smith island. The boat didn't sink on the way there, I didn't get eaten alive by greenheads, and I got to spent some quality time with my dad and brother so I consider myself lucky enough despite the fact I couldn't make it to the event yesterday. I feel for you Bishop. I really hope you'll be back in action sooner rather than later.
Edit: Sapir not utilizing pretty colors for emphasis in his posts?! Is this a sign of the apocalypse?

Yeah, I know what it feels like to have a PC die on you after installing something, www.techonvent.net is a good place to go for PC advice though. If you got any spare cash to spend on a new rig, let me know how much and I'll help ya find a good deal on the parts.

Well, to give an idea of what i'm being told....there was an issue with the memory slots, which caused the memory to fry (not sure what or how)...
The hard drive was fried as well...
Was told my graphics card fried as well...
The power supply was damaged as well (can't remember the exact explanation...).
But what I gathered was, the entire thing was just wasted and wouldn't be worth the effort trying to rebuild it as the motherboard itself was bad. I think the only thing that worked was one of the fans.
And ta boot, my wife's laptop dies as well, so we had to get her another system so she can continue her business work. I think I may just bite the bullet and stretch the budget and get another PC, however, I don't want a Vista and that's all they have out there now :(
So, I'm on the hunt for a complete system for a reasonable price. If anyone has anything in mind please advise.
I would use the Wife's new PC, but don't want to inteferre with her business/work, so this is a good excuse for me to get a much needed new PC for my gaming purposes :)

Vista's really not bad once you get used to the changes. The CoH issues with it are minimal, there's a few simple things that you can do to get it working as well, if not better, than on XP. On my Vista box (primary gaming machine) I can get 40-60 fps.
