As my 5th blaster falls off my claws to the ground dead I find myself running for dear life from a tank. I lose him and turn around to come up behind him and let him have the full on power of my attack...Like a bad movie where the goon punches the hero only to break his own hand I stood there in shock.
Then he hit my twice I think it was and sent me packing hard.
well taking some time to think about it I know why i could not hurt him and why I lost so now I stay far away from tanks/scrappers unless I have a strong addvantage like them already hurt from another fight.
Thinking on this it comes to me... I can only really pop squishy in a few fast hits but that tank killed me in a few fast hits. How much less/more life do I have then say a blaster (my target of choice)?
Had I been a brute I could have stayed and fought the tank would still have lost but maybe I could have ran and lived thanks to more life and had I been a brute with stealth maybe I could just as easy still come up fast on blasters and drop them before they can get away.
So my Q is really would a brute with stealth make a better more rounded PvP stalker then the stalker?
The lack of hide would have me spotted much faster then a true stalker but I think it might still let me get close to my target and get surprise if I move fast.
I don't think the damage would be that much less then a AS and I would not have to stop with my pants down to get it off like I do AS.
What do the lot of you think? and is this in the wrong place to ask?

A Brute without Stealth is a good PvP character as well. If you choose some heavy single target hitting attacks like Stone Melee or Energy Melee. If you take - for example - Energy Aura, pick Energy Cloak and then Stealth from the Concealment pool, many people will still be able to see you. Every self-respecting, frequent and skilled PvP'er has at least one or two +perception buffs.
If you are a Stalker with PvP problems... then go do it. Practice. Train. Slaughter. Alter your build. Pwn.

I don't think you can run energy cloak with stealth, it's one or the other. And if you go with energy cloak and you want greater stealth then you'll need an invention stealth enchancment in your build. Even with that you'll still be seen from close range. Only stalkers can reach the stealth cap. Even a stealth capped stalker can be seen from 10 ft away from some heroes with plus perception and perception buffs.

If i'm understanding clearly what your Stalker Primary is...Claws is not a good PvP choice.
1) it does about the least single output damage
2) one of the most resisted damage dealing set, Lethal
3) it would take too long to do serious damage, despite having the highest DPS (seeing in PvP, people won't just stand there and wait for you to start any serious damage).
What you need to do is rethink the choice of Primary you're running on your Stalker for PvP purposes. Claws is very good in PvE, but PvP...well, you figured out the problem.
Spines or EM are some of the better choices for PvP as they provide damage that is not that highly resisted, Toxic and Energy respectively.
If you changed your Primary, you'd do a lot better in PvP without a doubt.
And you're correct. Stalkers hitpoints are similiar to that of a Blaster....so be cautious.

Ok time for the long awaited Col.Stryker to talk about something he knows about. First off Bishop is right claws isn't the best choice for PvP. If you want power go with energy. Especially since it can drop toggles. Me my rep is 286 on Guardian all I do is PvP. I myself a Spines/Nin. Very nice combo. Ok brute/tank/scrapper problems. Ok let me see what I can do to help you. Ahh regen scrappers. I beleive them to be the weakest of Scrappers. Simply put I fly up to one intead of hittin AS I hit brawl. Why you ask? Simple tatics. As soon as they are hit they get scared and pop everything they have. Yep your right BINGO. Now they have nothing to use. Placate-Buildup-AS-Impale their dead heros to me. Tanks and Brutes can be tricky, but they are not hard to take down. Tanks are primary Def right. So use it against them. Invul and Fire I love taking on. Invul the trick is to catch them doing something. The first power you use on them should not be AS. Trick them into using everything they got. Then let them have it. By the way Tanks hate energy Stalkers. Ice trick them into using their so called "Dull Pain". Yes being a stalker is hard, but plan out your attack before you go guns ablazing I use to do that and get ownd. But now and days Warburg is my Yard. Hope some of this can help or spark your mind.

I don't really have a prob I was just wondering.
It looks to me like most people can see stalkers right before they let there AS off but tend to run and not attack. if a brute with stealth can just get to the point where they can just slow down the reaction time of the hero's they should have little prob killing a blaster right?
If thats true and they can do that with little prob then they would be about as affective as a stalker. maybe even more so thanks to not having the need to stop for AS and still haveing the option to stay and fight if they need to.
I like the playstyle of the stalkers in PvP even if they are hated by all with much passion. I want to make the best stalker I can even if its not the stalker class thats doing it. The two things that make the stalker so great are its high burst damage and the power to stay unseen. Well a few times in SC I have had to live without the full power of hide and I find I don't count on it as much as I used to. All I really want from hide a lot of the time now is the added burst damage it gives to me.

Sounds like you need to get a Stealth power then.
Hide + Stealth/Invis = Not seen at all.
Or if you can get some of those travel IO sets that provide a +Stealth, I believe that'll help you out as well.
With everyone grabbing some +perc, this makes the 1 layer of Hide and/or Stealth a little naked.
Try this little combo and see how close you can get before they see you.

Well I took my stalker and shut off hide but kept my other stealth powers running. I had little prob getting close to blasters and the like but there was this one scrapper that took great pains to chase me down each time he spotted me and he did see me a lot but when I turned back on hide he still saw me a lot so I think that was in large part to his build.
So I think that a brute can stealth ok. Not great and you will be seen when you get close but if you can get close I think it might be to late for the poor blaster anyway.
My next Q is how much will a brutes burst damage fall short of a stalkers.
